PSN games can have 21 points (Bronze=1) that can be spread however the developers like, so that's not an issue.

They are talking about the downloadable Bionic Commando Rearmed. Not the retail Bionic Commando.

Ah, stupid stupid stupid... i didn't buy the BC:R for $5 because it doesn't have trophies, now they're releasing the patch? I hate Capcom's unconventional trophy patches.

Can someone kindly post the trophies for:

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection

Thanks in advance (other sites blocked at work and the info wasn't on the first page).

Frisky's correct... I think trophy values are (correct me if I'm wrong):

Bronze = 1 pt.
Silver = 2 pts.
Gold = 6 pts.
Platinum = 12 pts.

If you look at the MvC2 trophy list and add their values up, you'll get 21 as well. Same goes for SSHD and PJ: Eden (just checked those as well) ;)

But if you backed up your HDD, you could always import that HDD data to a new PS3 and it'd work (it makes it think it's the same system).I was sure that if you backed up your PS3, and tried to restore it on a different PS3 that it would not restore your locked saves and downloaded paid games.

Not true?

Shoot I'm happy, I'm tied to a 60GB =D

While were on the subject, I can swap HDD's on the same PS3 and transfer the data from the old one to the new one with no problems right? Also, just how would I go about transferring the data anyways?

I wanna stick in like a 320GB HDD, b/c my 60GB is not gonna cut it for what I got planned.

IMO, just do a full back up to an external drive. I takes awhile longer, but after you do the restore your PS3 will look just as it did before the HDD swap.

I just put in a 500GB HDD in my original 60GB. The only difference is I have lots of HDD space now!

If you don't have a big enough external HDD you can copy your (non-protected) saves to a flash drive and just re-download the stuff you want from the PS Store.

I gotcha. Hopefully I can find someone with an external HDD to borrow from.

It will copy those and restore them IF you restore on the same PS3.
A backup copies EVERYTHING off the drive.

It will be the same PS3 as before, just with more space as noted above.

I'm assuming that's what would happen, especially since the trophies correlate with the in-game medals and one is clearing all the challenge rooms with at least one star.

Dallow, do you know if you can manually copy a copy-protected save from an external HDD to the PS3? I'm thinking of creating a back-up when I swap HDD's, create a new save and complete the trophy list, then delete that and re-copy my old save. I REALLY don't want to go through the trouble of aceing all those Challenge rooms again.

Thanks guys.

Congrats! I'm close to FINALLY getting my 1st platinum with Fallout 3.
Was my first Platinum trophy too! The trophies in Fallout 3 aren't hard. They just take too much time.

How were the zone trophies? Any tips? =P

You mean the Zone Zeus Trophy? Yeah it was hard, but with hours of practice on Anulpha Pass (forward) and it is possible. I can't really give out any real good tips except to practice on Anulpha Pass and get use to the speed. Here are my tips.

The alternate path on the right of the course near the end gives you good time to gain more Zones and Energy.
Hit every speed pad on the course.
Get as many perfect laps as possible at the start.

Ive been playing Zone Mode in WipEout since Pure and Pulse on the PSP so I have gotten use to the high speeds. To tell the truth I think the Arcade Perfect trophy is the hardest trophy to get in this game because the courses in reverse are very tricky compared to forward courses.

do not play Ski-doo for trophies... i GF'd it for "easy" trophies, it turned out, the damn game is so freaking hard to control. I earned a few trophies and just gave up.

Oh Wipeout HD is hard... but if you can master that, i think Ski-doo should be piece of cake. Timing in racing games is not my thing.

I agree that the controls are unforgiving. However, that being said, I think the trophies were still pretty easy if you just stick with it for a little bit. I got the platinum within about 6-8 hours.

Approach from the left side, Go diagonally to the platform with nose up. Do a barrel roll as fast as possible. Zico took me about 2 - 3 hours to do. Mostly due to that damn platform barrel roll.

The new update has some new stuff for trophies:

Trophies – Showcasing your hard earned trophies just got better. Update 3.00 gives game developers the ability to modify how they display trophies for add-on content. Base and add-on game trophies will continue to be combined into a single list so you can see where you stand in a game as a whole. Within that list, trophies will be broken out into subcategories-base trophies and add-on trophies-that way, you can easily view the percentage of your base game trophy collection, and separately track your trophy progress in add-on packs. Look for this enhancement to be included in upcoming games.

The PS3 version of TFU will be getting a patch in the near future to add trophies!
The trophies will cover all the original TFU content, but you will have to delete your save game and start over to earn them. This is a Sony requirement. The patch will come out some time before the Tatooine downloadable level. From Lucasarts http://forums.lucasarts.com/thread.jspa?threadID=139422&tstart=0

I can't see how it's a Sony requirement to have you start a new game for trophies when they didn't make you on Disagea 3. I call lazy devs who can't be bothered to do more work.

They better hurry with the Game of the Year edition coming in about a month and a half since each week that passes gives PS3 owners another reason to just wait for the retail game rather than pay $50 for each expansion.

Because they still want something for those of us that neglected to get the game at all. Coming out the same day as Brutal Legend and Uncharted 2 wasn't a great idea either.

I was able to go through it, although it was no cakewalk. I think Naughty Dog recognized just how much they made enemies into bullet sponges in the first game. I think the real thing that might limit the Plat is the difficulty of the online based trophies.

I find the AK takes like 6+ shots. The pistol is about 3-4.

The thing I hate is when there are endless waves of enemies, and either (1) like the last guy in the wave kills you or (2) another guy pops up out of nowhere a few more feet up the path and ends up killing you / more waves of enemies come after you and make you start over.

I did manage to get from level 5 to 11 today, so maybe platinum isn't too much to ask.

Picked up Star Wars Force Unleashed from a Gamecrazy for $11.xx and spent about an hour last night churning out trophies. I had started the game on the 360 a year ago when I bought it for $45 used from GS (at least as part of a B2G1 though). I never played more than a few chapters :wall:. I have always wanted to finish the game at least, but it just seems pointless to play it on the 360 for just plain vanilla points. Yet I want to play it on the PS3 and then push ahead for all the trophies as it seems like I actually have a chance at a rare platinum (they seem so impossible to me in most games).

But Sony is definitely on to something with these platinum trophies vs the 1000 points thing on the 360. I'm much more likely to want to play a game on the PS3 if I think I can unlock everything and get the platinum vs just 1000/1000. The flip side of that is that I'm passing on older games that don't have trophy support. I think it is a smart move for any developer to add them in if it is at all feasible - I know there are plenty of more sales they would have gotten from me (whether I would ever get around to playing those games or not ;)).

See, I've found myself to be the opposite. I find that I have no real attachment to my trophies. I mean sure, I'll go and try to get trophies in the games I have, but I don't put too much effort into it unless I really like the game. Achievement points on the other hand I will go out of my way to get, as I have an attachment to my gamerscore. I look at my trophy card and see that I'm level 4, and go "Oh, well I suppose that's nice." On the other hand, I look at my GT and see that I'm 110 points away from 14,000 and it drives me that much harder to pick up more games and replay some of the ones I've already got in order to hit that next mark.

That's gotta be personal preference. I see my trophy percent and see that I need to get to the next level. I will give you that it's easier to feel that though with a number rather than a percent. Trophies can be translated into points as well though.

I just got to Level 11 on the heels of Batman. It's really good. I don't see how it's possible to do the Combat Challenges, though. The one Predator Challenge that I did was pretty fun, so I want to do more of those.

I think the PS3 needs a good, solid game that dishes out Trophies sparingly for cool, little things that aren't insanely difficult. How do I put this...it needs a game like Fable II (in terms of Trophies). In that game, there are lots of cool, little things you can do to get Achievements that are cool to get. You don't have to do everything to get all the points (except for the DLC). In most PS3 games, it's usually a long grind to get a Platinum.

Well, I'm up around 35K and maybe it just starts to feel pointless after a while. Sure, it would be nice to break 50K but I'm not going out of my way to do it. In fact, I have a ton of games in the backlog that I could do that with easily.

I guess what I was trying to say is it isn't the levels so much on the PS3 - it is the platinums. It just seems pointless to grind for 100 hours on some 360 game to get 1000/1000 when all you get is just a few more points than you get from the same game by only playing it for 30 or so (like, you can usually get 700-800 or so without too much trouble). Yet on the PS3 that grinding or tricky play results in at least the platinum to show off. Yeah, sure, it's all meaningless in the end, but I guess if I'm going to do it at all I'd prefer to do it where it is more obvious. There are still some 360 games I'll want to max out. I just finally got my 1250 on Beautiful Katamari for example. And I want to do it on Oblivion (as I'm already 80 hours into it anyway). But on games like Star Wars Force Unleashed I don't see the point of playing all those hours to get 1000/1000 when I could get those last 300-400 points just as easily off some other game in 1/10th the time and it makes no difference on your total gamescore. Yet on the PS3 I'll end up with a platinum if I grind it out. Make sense?

If you never played LBP before, it'll show up as a new trophy listing. If you have, then it won't. That will most likely be the case for Fallout 3 as well. There aren't many games where there are different versions with the same trophy lists that you can Platinum multiple times. Here are the ones I know:

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis/Mega Drive Collection
Buzz Quiz TV/Buzz Brain of UK (and it's many other varieties)
Sonic Unleashed/Sonic World Adventure
Tomb Raider Underworld (US and JPN)
Disgaea 3 (US and JPN)
Trash Panic (US and JPN)

These games have the same trophy lists, but can earn you multiple trophies. The exception is the Buzz series, as the questions vary from game to game, but the trophy and Platinum is the same between all versions.

BT is pretty much like that Wii game come with the Wiimote, but it's a lot more elements than that. Well, the tanks look cooler too. The trophies are a bit hard to get, you'll need to play a lot to get them.
TMNT is fun, the trophies are not too bad and you can finish the game pretty quickly. However, if you're a trophy whore, it's not ideal to get 100% on a PSN game, too demanding (most of them) and too little gain, play a disc game instead!

A theory on NGS2 Hidden Trophies:
- 3 are going to be for finding the Hidden Skulls (one for 10, 20 and 30 respectively)
- 4 will be based on finishing Team Missions (1 for each difficulty)
- 9 will be based on the Tests of Valor

Also, I'm 2 Trophies away from getting a Platinum in Dead Space. Now I need to know which Weapons I should focus on using for it. NOTE: I plan on glitching/cheating the hell out of this run with infinite respawning credits, semiconductors, and Stasis/Oxygen cheats.

Ah, thanks for the heads up, looks like easy Plat :) So, is it easy to Plat SW:FU? I know some games disable trophies if you use cheat :( (X-Men Origin Wolverine for one).

Yes, it is a very easy Platinum. There is a way to enable cheats and get trophies.

It's supposed to disable saving, but it doesn't quite work. What you do is start a new game on Sith Master difficulty, play through the prologue, once you jump into the first level as Starkiller, pause, then enter the 3 cheat codes for maxed talent, force power, and combo upgrades. Play through the start of the level killing all the enemies in the hanger and then open the door with the 2 sliding arrows. Step-through and move down the hallway it doesn't show that it is saving, but it is. Wait a little bit to make sure it's done, then exit out to the main menu and select continue game. The cheats are now off but your stats stay maxed.

I did that after playing the game first "straight" on normal difficulty which I would recommend as even with maxed skills Sith Master can still be fairly challenging (some of the stronger enemies can still kill you in 2 or 3 hits).

It's pretty easy to get most of the trophies. it's just kinda time consuming as you won't unlock many if any of the "kill X 500 times with each force power" even after 2 playthroughs. Once I finished the game I ended up replaying the first level on apprentice (easy) over and over since it has a lot of clusters of weak enemies to finish those up.

There's a new edition coming out with the 3 DLC missions (about 2.5-4 hours worth of content) on disc and represents the other 36% of available trophies. So you might be ahead to wait for that to get cheap and pick it up.

edit: Wow, you've got more patience then me to platinum Bionic Commando, after finding out you can't replay levels to finish off challenges/collectibles I gave up on getting those and the hard/Commando tropihes

I probably wait for the SW:FU game... The Seth edition is coming out and i wonder if the same cheat works on the new edition :) The price for FU is not that cheap comparing to the Seth edition (value-wise). Thanks for the detailed tip Guardian Owl :) (i don't even have to look it up).

I just got the Slim and I'm trying to sync all my trophies to the new system, but it's taking an incredibly long time. It also doesn't get to 100% and I get an error saying " Communication with the server timed out (87010102)". It's done this every single time I've tried to sync. I have close to (I think) 450 trophies. Is this why it's taking so long? The highest I got was in the 30% range.

Davestation
09-25-2009, 06:18 AM
Just keep trying to sync, the PS3 does not like to sync trophies to other systems and it can take awhile. That 30% should be on your system though and do it again to get more, it does take a bit of time and I had a few errors syncing my other PS3 up.

Anyone here have multiple PS3's (instead of just upgrading from an old one to a slim)? I have a Slim and was going to set it up downstairs. I'd like to sync up save files every so often - is that even possible? Man, it would be nice if it would do so automatically via wireless communication. That would be a sweet feature! Then me and the kids could just jump on whichever system and play online games (like Fat Princess) together while keeping saves/stats.

But can you even do it at all? Will a USB flash drive do the trick?

As for trophies, I had started in on SW: FU (got a nice cheap copy at Gamecrazy). Thanks for the glitch info as I will definitely want to use that after my first normal playthrough - don't want to have to grind the second time.

I also picked up two more games during my recent work trip: Ghostbusters and Batman. I hear some of the Batman stuff is near impossible. But what about Ghostbusters? Any chance of a platinum there. Oh, I also got Harry Potter Half Blood Prince - hopefully that one is smooth sailing.

And of course I have to keep working on Katamari Forever when I get home. The one trophy that may prove to be elusive is getting 55k (or so) on the "loser" minigame - ie, the "trial" the king puts you through for failing a level. You run back and forth and have to avoid asteroids that break on the ground and bounce all over. Best I could do was about 26K. It would suck if I get denied a platinum because of that which has nothing to do with the core game :bomb:.

Serpentor
09-25-2009, 04:07 PM
Yo IO, if you figured out how to do it, let me know, because i'm planning to do the same thing... For the time being, i guess you just have to use the PS3 that you started the game with :( (copying game saves might work, since you're basically using your own account's saves, but either way is too much work). Perhaps we can ask for this feature?

Batman AA is not nearly impossible, but the timing of the buttons for combat is too much, i just don't have that kind of energy. I just play another game instead :)

Have not played Ghostbuster yet, but i have seen people with Plats for HPHBP, so looks like you can Plat this one :)

Did anyone played Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs? Man, the challenges are not for kids at all! I thought it was an easy Plat, boy i was wrong... The challenges are set to the maximum condition (i.e. no room for errors at all). Not only that, it's possible that the required time is glitched. The damn timer continue counting while the next screen loads, in one of the challenges, you actually lose 1.5 seconds because of it!

If you want a good, simple Platinum, get Burnout Paradise. Just make sure you do all your Timed Challenges in a car and not a Bike. You'll pay for it otherwise.

Save synching...some save files are locked to the console they were made on, like LBP and SF4 (maybe KZ2 does this, not sure). Otherwise, if you use the same PSN ID, you should be fine I think.

Batman, it's pretty much the Combat Challenges that are the bane of your Platinum hopes there. Predator Challenges are quite simple since youtube videos make them go by real fast.

Ghostbusters recently got patched so getting a Platinum is possible now, but the hardest difficulty might be a challenge, as well as finding people online.

The rate is actually 15 for B, 30 for S, 90 for G and 180 for P.

I just got my 3rd Platinum trophy a couple of hours ago. I love the Batman trophies because there's no need for a second playthrough and there's almost no need to consult a FAQ to cheat. You can have fun with the game and go back to your completed save file to collect all the things you need. There's also maps in-game that tell you the location of all the Riddler challenges you're missing. The challenges can be a little frustrating and time consuming but once you get into the flow of it, it becomes pretty doable. Just make sure you don't miss the two missable trophies.

Har har har. I still need to do the Combat Challenges in Batman, though. I can't get 3 medals in the first one, though. That's preventing me from moving on (I feel I must conquer it before moving on). I tried the Infinite Challenge, and that's just crazy because of all the guys that jump on your back. Sadly, the DLC ones don't count towards Trophies, otherwise I'd spend some time with them.

Oh, and I got Force Unleashed, and I'm on level 2 now with max upgrades on Sith Master. Cheat maneuvering helps a lot. I should be able to Platinum that fairly easy from what it looks like now.

I put aside SW: FU to do Katamari Forever, but will definitely come back to it with that glitch to finish it up.

Katamari looks doable - I thought the punishment minigame one would be impossible but while I was out of town my 6 year-old son did it on his game, so I think I can handle it. Though when I tried last night I couldn't do any better than 30K (need 55K). It is really a matter of luck so I guess I just need to keep trying - or maybe ask my son to do it for me ;). The only other tough one there is the 100% collection. On Beautiful Katamari this was a pain in the ass as there's always just one or two items you can never find and you have no idea where they are.

I'm actually kind of disappointed there isn't one for getting 120's on each level. That would have been time consuming, though, so I guess I'm glad it isn't like that. Still, though, that would have made it one of the harder ones to get and I probably could have done it.

I think Star Wars' Platinum is easily doable because of the Power glitch which basically gives you free healing powers whenever you want, given you have enough orbs. Story Mode might take 4-5 hours. It's just that going back and getting every collectible and every sub objective (On Apprentice, because you can switch difficulties like that) is going to be harder.

You didn't switch difficulties at any time in the middle of your game right as doing that negates your ability to get sithmaster difficulty trophy.

Also on some of the secondary objectives (like kill X monsters and obtain X points) you don't have to do those all in one playthrough. If you've killed 2 Rancors and obtained 250K points from your first completion of the level your totals start right back off at 2 kills and 250K points when you replay the level. A good trick for getting the rancor one for instance is to kill the Rancor you first meet solo, then let the other guys kill you before you reach a save point. You'll respawn just before the first rancor again and each kill will count toward the total.

Sithmaster is pretty smooth sailing until you start hitting some of the specialized storm troopers who have defenses against your long-range force powers.

No, I switched it to Apprentice after I got the 5 Trophies (4 difficulty ones, and Revenge). I started up an Apprentice run, used the code, then started on Sith Master.

I seriously wish that game upon no one, because that difficulty curve is horrendous. The last room before the Boss Gauntlet...wow. I have to get 17 Trophies before I get a Platinum in it.

Giant Bomb needs to fix their point values, because their including DLC for their near 1000 point totals. It's also 100% broken at this time.

So, I just earned my 9th Platinum coming from Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. It took roughly 15 hours to do spanning almost 2 playthroughs (1 on Sith Master, 1 on Apprentice for Holocron purposes) with about 3 hours of grinding kills with various powers.

Oh crap, i got that one by accident... To get that one, play as the the circular creature (pressing the button will make it rotate). I believe once you're at the bottom bottom, there's a big circular creature (a super duper version of your little circular creature). Just keep rotating around the big guy and it kind of twitch if you hit it on some spots. After killing the big guy, i got the MEMORY trophy...

Beauty is dorable, peace is a pain, i don't have them yet... For PEACE, use the creature that turns yellow when you press the button. By turning to yellow, the creature can't ingest... For BEAUTY, well, don't get hurt. Maybe both trophies can be gotten using the same creature i just mentioned.

Vegetarian and cannibalism are just too anal... i'll pass...

Oh, yeah. The energy weapons and the medicine bobblehead are missable.

Giant Bomb is disabling their Trophy support next week because Sony has to go back to the drawing board on it. However, the games you have on your profile already won't be deleted.

It is obvious that Sony only wants people to be able to view trophies by going to playstation.com. It has nothing to do with Sony fixing anything. They are going to remove the trophy data from our Giant Bomb pages, it says so directly on the newest "most popular achievements" news story.

I don't get why people are so worked up over trophies. Its not like they are as cool as high scores or anything. Just because you have a lot of trophies doesn't mean you're good and they don't make the game any better. I just find it ridiculous that people don't buy games or hold off on playing games like mgs4 just because they want some stupid virtual trophies. I think they are a kind of cool thing to have, but I really don't care for them all that much.

Er, why wouldn't it mean that you are good at a game, particularly when a lot of trophies require you to beat games on a higher difficulty or with a handicap (no guns through the entirety of Mirror's Edge comes to mind). Not to mention the Street Fighter IV trophies one of which requires I believe 100 wins online?

It also helps add some extra replay value to the majority of single player games.

Serpentor

It definitely adds replay values... Look what trophies did to Uncharted (the first one), i played the game over and over, beat it on Easy, Normal, Hard and Crushing. I enjoyed every play through, of course, Crushing is quite anal, but patience and perseverance really paid off.

I do want to continue play MSG4, but man, it's just not the same w/o trophy incentives. And that Level thing... For some god damn reasons, it taunts me every time i look at it. Maybe it's this RPG thing in the past, i used to level my characters to max just for the hell of it... But now the concept is not the game character, but ME, the gamer. I know it's lame to kill "unworthy" enemies to level up, but it's part of the strategy (aka, play Hannah Montana for the platinum, i'm not ashamed to mention this over and over).

I know there's nothing to gain from trophies (maybe in Home, you can display them in the trophy rooms). But to me, it's like giving games a purpose, i know it's painful to unlock some anal trophies, but it's a very satisfying accomplishment.

In the past, the games are quite hard (limited continues, no saves, harsh punishments, no checkpoints etc.), so beating them is very satisfying.

Now, gaming is not just a hobby, but a progress, a growing/living progress. You're a character, the super character that governs all of the game characters. The only way to advance is to level up...

Speaking of progress, i've found that the PSN system is more addictive than the Live system. On Live, you're only a gamer score, there's no leveling up... Also, there's no special treats for unlocking all achievements, aka, the Platinum trophy.

So, on the Xbox system, you're only rewarded with gamer points, which is an addiction... But on the Playstation system, you get two doses, one being leveling up and another being Platinum trophies.

Oh, i also like to add that, with trophies/achievements, you actually see parts of the game that you normally don't get to enjoy if you just want to beat it. For example, Godfather II, execution styles... Not very important, but yeah, you don't need to do them to beat the game, but it's actually pretty cool (or brutal) to do them. And no, no rewards if you do them on civilians or cops, only on the mobsters...

Do i need to mention scouting the whole damn map looking for artifacts and stuff? If you just play the game, do you think you care about finding them at all? Perhaps you do it to unlock new contents... but we all know companies are charging for those contents you can unlock

Why do I think it's fake?
#1 - Claim is that it's of the back of the back of the Greatest Hits version of the game, but to my knowledge the game has not gotten a Greatest Hits release
#2 - Previous version of the game did not use the Playstation Network

I think I'd have...25 or so of them if they were retroactive (They're stored on Capcom's servers). I definitely wouldn't go for a Platinum, though. I'd probably just pop it in to get my Trophies and that'd be that.

But yeah...wishful thinking.

I got my Ratchet Platinum yesterday. Challenge Mode on Casual is a joke. It took me roughly 2 hours to conquer that Mode.

Let me talk about this next game, a game that no one in the world has gotten a Platinum on, because it is insane. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. If you only want Trophies (Not Silver, Golds, Platinums), Ninja Gaiden Sigma gives you roughly 20 in 4 Missions (Or about 2-3 hours of gameplay). Not only that, there are some glitches that will get you easy, but dishonorable Bronze and Silver Trophies. Those being the 1000 Kill Trophies (17 of those in total).

So overall, if you're looking to be a cheating jerk, 35-40 Trophies can be yours in a little over 5 hours if you know where to look. But seriously, 20 trophies on your in 4 Missions ain't too shabby either.

Huh, never heard of a helpful trophy glitch for this. Count me in.
