A bit of a downer, this one, but it's happening nonetheless. SOCOM: Confrontation developer, Slant Six, confirmed today (http://socom.us.playstation.com/post/2008/07/SOCOM-US-Navy-SEALs-Confrontation-Release-Date.aspx) that the new title for PlayStation 3 (which will be available both at retail with a Bluetooth headset, and on the PSN) has been delayed from its original September 16th release date (http://talkingaboutgames.com/content/view/669/35/), until October 14th. Bummer, huh?
According to the studio, the month delay was due to the fact that even after serious crunching and numerous late nights, the team just wasn't going to be able to deliver what they wanted, in all of its glory, on time. "Tough decisions had to be made", and thus, here we stand. On the plus side, there is still a public beta on the way (http://talkingaboutgames.com/content/view/1250/35/), and we'll get an updated look at the first next-gen, non-Zipper developed SOCOM at E3. As long as it's good, take all the time you need.
