Having any problems with ESPN NFL 2K5?

Mine is messed up. I have to sub my QB and HB for every game even though I have them 1st string on the depth chart. My favorite running formation, the Strong I Spread is totally messed up. My kicker is in at HB and the punter is the Center. I tried subbing, but somehow my DB replaced the kicker! I had a 340 pound running back with the the speed of a slug and a 0 rating.
Now that I'm 7-0 in the first season of my franchise, the frigging game freezes right before kickoff. I tried the Game Cast option, but it still froze when I tried to join in.
Is this stuff happening to anyone else?
I just exchanged it and I'm still having the same problem with freezing every time I try to play. This is the only game giving me any trouble and my XBOX is only 6 months old.

The only problem I've encountered so far is that the game would freeze during the NFL Draft in Franchise, but now it doesn't freeze anymore.

My only problem is that it plays songs in the stadium that are on my HD but not on the stadium music list.

I only had a problem during ONLINE league. Which is stated in another thread.

There is also a bug in when there is a clipping call when you run the ball, it takes 15 yards away from the rB's stats. Kidna sucks, but deal with it.

ok for the first post. You have used or made a playbook? If you have then go back before a game and edit it again. You must edit your subsitiotions. Put who you want here. Pick your plays. then save your playbook. Everytime you start a game you have to go to load/save and load the playbook. Then after the game save it. Then you have to when starting the game where it shows the two teams before it shows the stadiums there is a spot that says ( on x box) to hit y to change options. Then select your playbook name instead of the teams that you have selected. You have to do this each time you play a game. Pm me if you need more info.


The freezing could come from marks on the disc. Check to see if you have put any finger prints on the bottom of the disc.

I've had a problem, somehow Terrell Owens disappeared in the middle of my franchise season... :?

Not for the Xbox, but I'd really like to know what happened, he's like, not even in the game anymore somehow... He played for about 3 games and after that he just... vanished. :shock:

Yep, everything seems fine for me except the one game that didn't register online in a league. Although, I think I should've waited longer....I had another one where it took a good 5 minutes before it registered.

Hey Rag,
I'm having the same substitiution problem. It keeps subing my halfback at the start of each game, and during week 8, it subbed him at halftime too. It's also a major hassle getting him in the formation, I have to select him 10 or so times to get him in.

Must be a glitch. Might have to try creating my own playbook.

I still can't play a Franchise game even though I've exchanged the game for a new one. I guess something is wrong with the save file. I hope I can reassemble the same cheapass defense because I'm going to start a new franchise.

A problem that I have started having is when I turn on the game and start either a quickgame or a celebrity game. Once I select the coin it automatically ends the first quarter, and then the second quarter and will freeze at halftime if I let it play and will also automatically end the last 2 quarters. The ony way I have figured out how to fix it is to load my franchise, start a game and end it after the kickoff and then exit without saving and then I can play the other modes fine.

Also I have unlocked a couple free angents (Steve-O) how do I use them? Can I use them on my franchise?

yea im pretty sure its a save file. smilar problems were happening to me and i just restarted my franchise (i was only a half season into it) and made a new one. im on my 4th year of the new franchise right now.

Hey Rag,
I started having the freezing problem too, but either right after kickoff (when I would get the ball) or when I'd go to substitutions. What I started doing was switching my playbooks (I have a franchise with the Lions, and I had to switch the book to the West Coast offense playbook, almost the same thing). Once I did that, it works beautifully. I haven't tried going back to the Lions book for awhile now.

OP, you have to substitute you QB for every play, type of play and formation, I made this mistake at first also.

Still noone having any problems with the game. My second copy froze yesterday when I got to the second round of the playoffs. I find it hard to believe my copy is the only one doing this. Mine is unplayable. It locks up right after the coin toss.
I'm considering getting the PS2 version because I like the game when I can play it, but I'm not sure I want to give SEGA anymore of my money. This is the second copy with the same problem. This is the only game I've ever had trouble with on my almost new Xbox.
It also started messing up my subs again right before it froze. It subbed my 2nd stringers for the starters in the depth chart.
