http://www.ebay.com/cashback/

Go to the link, enter your registered ebay/half.com email address. Purchase a game off of ebay (no half.com) AND pay with PayPal between 3/1/04 and 3/31/04. Auction price has to be $10 excluding the shipping & insurance and it has to be one game at $10, not several items equaling $10 or more. $5 will be refunded to your Paypal account.

Not bad. I'll be using it, but I couldn't find the game I want at a decent price today. If anyone uses it let me know how it works out.

I wonder if this will work for video game accessories.

I tried it but It said that I cannot use the coupon with my purchase. I don't know if I did something wrong or not. I'm going to e-mail them I guess.

Can it be a Dreamcast game? Also, can the price be over $10...

Be sure you have a Half.com account. The instructions say so.

According to the site, as long as your item is found within the Books, Movies, Music or Video Games Categories on eBay it should work.

Nice deal, thanks.

Please note that this is not an instant rebate, but "The Rebate should appear in your PayPal account by April 15, 2004 provided your purchase is confirmed by eBay." Just a reminder.

The fine print:

*To qualify for the $5.00 Rebate, you must purchase one item for $10.00 or more, (excluding shipping, handling, insurance and sales tax) on eBay.com within the specified categories, and pay for such item using PayPal during the Promotion Period. You cannot combine purchases to satisfy the $10.00 limit. The Rebate will appear in your PayPal account by 5/15/04. One Rebate per registered member of the Half.com Site. Offer will expire on 3/31/04 or while supplies last.

Good on any book. movie, music item or video game on eBay.

Just to point out, the date it should appear is MAY 15th, not April. Still a great deal though, thanks!

No, you have to be a REGISTERED USER before Feb 25. You have to buy something between Mar 1 and 31, and only the first 10,000 entries are eligible.

That's a helluva long time to wait for a rebate. Oh well, I guess I can pick up a Sega CD game or something.

The only reason this promotion in to get rid of the bad publicity surrounding paypal stealing from its clients and freezing accounts

Thanks for the info, Minx. Some interesting reading there. I get my money whevever my account hits $100. I think I will continue to use paypal until I get screwed, because it's just so damn convenient when selling stuff on ebay.

Bought a game. We'll see if I slipped under the 10,000 person limit.

I thought the reason for this promotion is that eBay was shutting down Half.com and wants to get those users over to eBay.

I feel out of the loop here but what has been going on with Paypal? I've had them for almost two years with no problems? Whats the controversy?

I'd like to know this too. Been using using them for over 2 years without a problem. I try to read through the "horror stories" at PayPalsucks.com, but it usually turns into a whiney rant 3 after 3 sentences, and I dont bother to waste my time reading. Oh well.

Anyone know if this deal exludes "Buy It Now" purchases? I'm about to pick something up but I'd hate to get screwed on a technicality...

Well, I'll double check the Terms and see if it mentions anything.

"This offer applies to purchases of auction-style listings, Buy It Now listings and Fixed Price listings."

Never mind. :-P

I just used the deal to get an X-Port... if you want to download PS2 saves, that seems to be the format most recognized on the net. Plus you get to use your hard drive as a giant memory card. There's a bunch of them for sale right now for under $30, and you generally can't find these in stores (I know, I checked a bunch of places yesterday). Considering that a normal memory card still retails for about $25, it's a pretty sweet deal.

Me too. When I contacted a rep about this, he didn't have any knowledge of the promotion and said "we don't give out money".

I almost forgot about this myself, I got credit for my purchase of Metroid Fusion(complete non-Hong Kong) for $15 incud. shipping. So a $10 good game is a sweet deal I think.

It took them long enough, but the fine print does say by 5/15.
