Addams Family or the Munsters? Which one is better

I don't really like either but the Adam Family movies definantly PWN the Munster movie. Besides Adams Family are more entertaining.

There is simply no competition. The Addams fFamily were developed fromt he rich body of work created by cartoonist Charles Addams and had a great subversive quality. When I was little kid in the late 60's watching reruns, Gomez Addams was the first really cool adult I ever admired. There were lots of other characters and public figures who were technically adults but most people like rock stars were living a prolonged adolescence. Gomez was a husband, father, and financier yet still still knew how to have good time.

The Addams Family had an element of genuine menace whereas the Munsters were just like an odd group of immigrants from a country nobody has ever heard of. Odd but completely harmless and rather dull, too.

Now for the real question: Carolyn Jones or Yvonne de Carlo?

I can't explain why, but I actually preferred the Munsters. If we're talking movies then the Addams Family wins but as far as the show goes I thought the Munsters was more entertaining....

The Adams family is soo much cooler. They were a sex positive household, where the Munster parents slept in separate beds.

Of course Grandpa was cool on the Munsters, he was always trying to bite people. But even so the Adams Family kicks the crap out of the Munsters.

I've read the original Adams Family comics too, which I liked alot more than the actual TV series. Was there ever a Munsters comic strip?

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT watch the last Addams Family movie (Addams Family Reunion). At least I think it was the last one. Tim Curry as Gomez, Daryl Hannah as Morticia...BLAH!

The Adams Family humor is like Garfield, its all character building humor and little slapstick, but they never actually advance to use those characters to build complex comedy routines.

The Munsters uses a combination of character building humor AND slapstick humor, which is a much better formula.

I did like Addams better, but I liked when Herman Munster jumped up and down and everything started to shake. If the father was a Frankenstein and his mother was a Vampire, why was their son a werewolf?

however...as far as the TV shows go...

Rockin Surf theme song
Eddie had a doll named Woof-Woof
They had a dragon living under the steps
Grandpa's secret lab
The Munster Mobile
Butch Patrick would STILL look like Eddie if he wore the costume

I like the Addams family better but the Munsters had one thing I really like and that was the monster in the stair case. That was a neat bit.

I cannot believe how many Muster lovers there are here. It was painfully lame. It's like comparing Married With Children to Full House. Back in the day, like MWC, the Addams Family was one of the shows that many parents wouldn't let their kids watch while the Munster's primary audience was kids.
