I believe that was one of the new features this year along with trading. But I may be wrong

That being said, we have support for up to 32 users, full player stats, player trades, a fantasy profile draft, news options and a myriad of other features.

IGN: Can we start our online league with a fantasy draft?

Ferwerda and Castorani: Yes, we created something this year called a profile draft. Essentially, on your machine, you'll pre-rank the entire list of NFL players and what round you'd like to draft them in. This is very similar to a fantasy football draft pre-rank system. Once your profile is set, the league will automatically run the draft and assign your players based on your preferences.

This is our first iteration of a draft, and we'll be looking to expand to a real-time experience in the future. However, this year, we decided it would be best to focus on the base experience and expand as we interact with our community and build features that everyone wants.

Well according to the interview you can still be the Vikings

If you wanted to have thirty-two users control thirty-two versions of the Packers, with unique teams off, that would be allowed. I would turn unique teams off, but then we would have 30 versions of the Pats(who im surprised no one has picked yet), besides why do it if it really isn't your team. But instead one comprised of different players.

On that note, I guess if enough people wanted it we could have a fantasy draft. I'm against it though....but trading would be nice.

Do you mean can people with the CE can play with people who have the regular version? If so, yes. The CE has the same Madden 09, just additional content. Didn't quite understand the question though.

Strike 4-There's only an autodraft. There is no free agency as well this year.

It's super simple so you don't have to worry about scheduling other than the start date. When you hop online, you can play ANY of the opponents that you have not yet played until you play them all. There is no linear progression. It makes it so much easier for everybody. Of course, a little coordination might be necessary once you only have a few opponents left.

The way you wrote this reminded me how sad it is that is sounds like the game doesn't support divisions for online play. It is basically a 32 player tournament is the way I heard it described. Fun, but not really a "league."

I like the concept but it sounds like if we move beyond the capabilities built into the game itself then some one has to play "commissioner." Kinda defeats the whole purpose of having an online league if someone has to do the work.

I'd hate to have someone do work beyond just playing the games.

Based off of the link posted a few posts back, I think it's exactly as you describe Dr.SP . I was hoping it was similar to the franchise mode, or at least similar to how NCAA 09 works. Oh well, there is always next year.

Yea there will presumably be a roster update with all the preseason moves available on the first day as well as a patch to fix some minor gameplay issues.

I don't think there are any commish activities to do throughout the season anyway. I just think there is a better chance that I, and others, finish a league where you have to play 15 games versus 31 games. I think that makes a lot more sense.

Yeah, I'm starting to like the division idea more and more. Split the teams in half and put one half in the AFC and the other half in the NFC keeping the real conferences in tact as much as possible (assuming there are less than 32 teams. If there are 32 no problem).

Played online last night for the first time with Madden 09. The game isn't as good as I wsa hoping, but it will do especially playing with some CAGers.

My first online game didn't go well. I got beat 38-7. I had 5 interceptions and one fumble. I have a lot of work to do!

My goal is to not lose every game in our league! :)

This pretty much describes my experience too. Haven't play much football online since 2k5...but this year's Madden brought me around. Overall it feels pretty good and a lot better since the last time I played Madden. I got to get some practice in and get used to the new game :)

But yeah, trying to get into the lobbies just locks up my game.

in 09 u have to use user skills to catch the ball if ure going 1 on 1 with another cb, in 08 u could have just launched the ball and spectacular catched it.

in 09 the jukes are more sensitive and the animations are more realistic, in 08 u could just button jab stiff arm and make it for 7 yards most of the time...

No, the deep ball is really tough to connect this year though you should be able to have a better chance of catching it if you user catch. Go lab it for about 30 mins. User catching has overall gotten a lot better this year, its close to last gen.

You can't rely on speed to connect the deep ball, you really have to scheme it.

Thanks for advice, I spent about an hour today, going over deep passes. I think it helped a lot, I ws able to see what exactly needs to be done to increase the likelihood that the deep pass would be completed. I still can't cut the ball off like I used to. Seems to me that a grade A, receiver versus a grade A corner and youre likely to complete the pass, however, to increase the likelihood you really have to focus on matchups. As I become more comfortable with the teams, and their personnel, I suspect that I'll be able to get better deep ball completion results.

ive had this happen about 3 times during the replays when the game is over.

it would friggen freeze when i try to go too fast or something to view the plays and then id go return to gaame and it would freeze.

this league will be funny because im sure it wont mirror real life, since some of u guys are probably really good at madden and using real life "bad' teams

its supposed to match your skills when you set the difficulty to MY SKILL, now if you use all pro difficult setting, all the gameplay will occur in All pro setting. Myskill will vary. Even though I've practiced on deep passes, I still find those throws to be so dificult. I've been punished with interception after interception. I feel like the game really punishes those who try to go deep. You really have to be careful and precise on those deep throws.

Anybody else had in game freeze ups. just hit my second one in franchise mode. The screen freezes on the play select menu, but you can here the sound and the game continuing. wierd glitch. just wondering if anyone else has had this. hopefully a patch will fix it. I haven't tried an online game yet. I was waiting for the league...

I had exactly what you were talking about. Freeze in the middle of calling a play during a franchise game.

I also freeze when I try to go into the lobby online.

FWIW I tried to add everyone on the OPs post as a friend. Of the 29 I tried to add, 5 came up as ID not recognized. Either I typed them in wrong or those accounts don't exist.

You've already done it, but I think that you're just confusing the situation too.

There's nothing in Madden that would prevent the OP from setting up two leagues. Yes, we're going to have an AFC and NFC leagues but that isn't a setting in putting the leagues together. The OP was going to do it manually so that we wouldn't have to play 31 games.

We're all anxious to get going and I'm sure we're hear from the OP with an update soon. Just rest easy that no one else is playing league games.

I'd just as soon let the OP call the shots for now.

i've been playing at least one game of madden a day(since last week), and I'm almost on at least once a day to play whether it just me, my son, or me and my wife playing Pixel Junk Monsters.

Anyway, The Giants are left;Sprintfinance dropped out. i'm sure other spots will open up because 32 people is alot to maintain though more than a few games. I wish I had grabbed the chargers, but I came into this a little late, ended up with the jags. So , I got lucky and ended up with a good team anyway. I did not play madden last year; This is the 1st madden I've bought in a few years and it is pretty tight, I've had some good games online so far and it's been fun. The game has gotten me even more amped for the real NFL games to start!

I was in practice mode, and hitting turbo at the right time can pretty much mean the difference between a 3 yard run and an 8-10 yard run.

everyone makes that mistake. Even on the kick off, you can't hold down turbo is you're about to engage in a block because you'll get knocked down easily.

You are very right Plinko.It seems to be the opposite of the "suction"blocking on offense. I have noticed this a lot the more I run the ball. The way it is set up it makes it hard to run the ball between the tackles. I've had some good gains on the ground you just have to get past the d-line first..

Have any of you guys faced players who are "cheesers" or those who just plain do cheap,dumb $hit? I played a guy earlier today his name was MLF_2124 he all game long did nothing but onside kicks, dropping back like ten yards to pass(he threw about 2-3 picks) I almost beat him, but my wife was giving me a hard time about playing when we had to go some where and the jerk beat me 21-17(I was winning 17-7 @ half) after he did a QB sneak on 4 and goal,(on 2nd down he did a kneel down play)

I should have smashed this dude if it wasn't for my wife changing channels, etc..

My advice is if you can find guys that play the game properly, and with some sportsmanship stick with with playing those guys...

just do outside runs. the inside runs collapse almost immediately. LB's that are in zone coverages will chase u down.

My thing is that you would think that it would be easier to run inside, off tackle is not so bad, instead of doing pitches and toss plays. But I think it really depends on who has what team.

its not as bad as it used to be. Now you can see which of the D-Line are about come free. Same with linebackers, if you see your lead blocker get knocked out by a linebacker then you know to run the other way. Or to use your stiff arm... if you get hit while sprinting its easier for you to be knocked down.
You really have to pay attention to the blocking by the online and the lead blocker if you have one. Sometimes you're lineman get so free that they can get into the linbacker area. sometimes you have to be patient when you run, hitting the hole immediately isn't always the best option, sometimes you have to stay behind your line and then make a move.

haha when they no huddle, u hitstick them, ure players get tired after playing 3 straight plays, notice the icon becomes red.
the more fatigued u are the greater chance of fumbling.
my friend no huddled for 4 straight minutes, got into the redzone threw a flat route to his rb i sticked him and bam fumbled.

I don't remember it step by step but at the end of the game, there are options to watch highlights or something like that. You can create and save clips of plays. After you save the clips you can view them in game under My madden or something like that, and it will give you the option to upload the clips to easportsworld. It lets you save 10 clips at a time to the website.

I know, not great instructions, but that'll give you an idea of where to look. It's pretty self-explanatory once you know it's there...I didn't know you could do it until someone else mentioned it and I started poking around.

I haven't seen a post from the OP since the one where he apologized for not having it up when he originally said he would. don't know what the deal is, but it might be best if we waited for the first patch since there are still a few hiccups in the game. doesn't mean we cant all get our reps up against each other by adding friends and playing straight up online games.

I think we already went this route. He first said it would be up last Saturday. Then after a few days of silence he came back and apologized and said it would be up " soon."

Like everyone pointed out, that was kool, life takes over sometimes, stuff comes up etc.

That was five days ago. I already stood up for the OP and asked tdot3dahardstout (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/member.php?u=161884) to hold off when he was setting up one of the conferences. I almost think we should've let he go ahead and do it.

My vote is that if the league isn't up and running by Sunday, mid-day, that we let tdot3dahardstout (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/member.php?u=161884) set up the NFC and then find someone to set the AFC.

I'm in the NFC otherwise I would do it. One other point, I don't know if we every resolved the questions around settings (quarter length, rules, playoffs, etc). Perhaps at this point we just let the new commissioners decide.

I wonder how many people we've lost b/c this has taken so long . . .:-(:-(

I'd be willing to help out on the AFC side of things if needed. Although we might want to get a headcount of who's still interested, because if we lost a large group of people, we may not need to split the league into two -- or if for example, we lost a bunch of NFC people but had a large group of NFC people, it wouldn't make sense to have two leagues, one with say 10 teams and one with 4 teams...or whatever...you get the idea ;)
