You could do that back then but now you can't. Most of the "preorder gifts" will only be given to you when you buy the game. Unless you're good buddies with the staff there or they have alot left in the back a couple weeks after release, no chance in getting the stuff.

We generally get pre-order stuff a few days to a few weeks beforehand, and it's generally random. If you really want it, ask for a note to be made when you pre-order for them to call you, or just call around when people start posting they're getting theirs. Most of the time another GS will give you one if you tell them you pre-ordered at another store.

As far as I can tell the only use they'd have for motion control is balancing on pipes and the like, which, though a minor enhancement, could really be cool. Myself, I can't figure out if I want this on PS3 or 360. Probably PS3, since I don't have an HDMI 360 and this game is so reliant on bright, vibrant, shimmering colors that I would want to squeeze every pixel out of my TV to play the game. But then, there might be technical problems with the PS3 version. So I'll probably just pre-order one of them to get my bag and make the final decision on the release date, after I've read a few reviews.

But it's obvious that Sony has been geting the interesting games like Patapon for the PSP, Little Big Planet for PSN, the whole Home concept, Folding at home, which isn't a game but still something unique to the system, Everyday Shooter, etc. Not to mention that the six axis allows developers to try out different things while Xbox is limited in that regard.

Once Sony has a white PS3 then I'll get that (I have a white PSTwo and I want my PS3 to match that and the 360 when I get it). That reminds me of how many times I forgot my black USB stick at my school's various computer labs, same one with my papers also had my financial aid forms with SSN filled and everything. Of course, I now use a different stick for papers after I learned...twice, but still, bright yellow may have helped ;)

I can't imagine any replay either. The combat also looks like Assassins Creed, in the sense that it looks beautiful, but it's all done automatically once you press a single button. The interview said there's one action button...It seems like this can make you jump, dive, or slide...

But that shouldn't happen at all. They should have bounus items in equal numbers with the pre-orders. Yeah, I know they have the "while supplies last" language, but I think that is such BS. That's part of the reason why I dont pre-order for bonuses unless A) I can pick up the bonus at the time of pre-order or B) The bonus is pre-packaged with the game (basically the Limited/Special Editions). In particular with this game, I declined to pre-order it because the bags werent in the store (on top of that, the manager wasnt even aware of the bags, just the "Time Trial" codes.)

But to each his/her own I guess.

The main manager from each Gamestop store was given a bag already. It is theirs to keep. They do not have the ones in that are supposed to go to customers, those will arrive much closer to the release date.

Here, I couldn't find the good camera so I took these with my phone. Excuse the clutter, I had to make room for the 360 to fit without possibly scratching it up. It will indeed fit in there with room for the power brick and probably cables. It won't fit across though. I had to stand it up, but it will still zip closed. I didn't feel like unhooking everything. I wouldn't be surprised they canceled ALL the online bag preorders since shipping it would have costed them a bomb. They would simply use the "while supply lasts" as the excuse.

I believe Valkyria Chronicles was another recent example of how GS fucked up their preorder bonus. Quite a lot of people didn't get the artbook with their online orders. Some stores didn't even get enough artbooks to fill their preorders.

I'm gonna try to remain optimistic here, since I've never been screwed over on a pre-order bonus by GS (including the Valkyria Chronicles artbook last week), in-store or online. However, I wasn't really interested in this game until I played the demo last week, so that's when I preordered.

The guy didn't sound too sure as to whether I'd get one or not (he gave me some spiel about the cutoff date usually being two weeks before the game comes out for these things, even though I've preordered games the day before they came out and still got the bonus), but I'm still gonna take a chance. Worse case scenario I just cancel my preorder and pick it up at CC with the book instead.

I've done In-Store pickup a couple of times, and your order pretty much shows up the next day in the stores system with a zero balance. I'd stroll on in there tomorrow and tell them you want to pick up your pre-order. All they need is the phone number you used when you ordered online.

As for online pre-ordering, GS is very notorious for screwing over early pre-orders out of bonus items. If I have to go that route (or GS at all for that matter), I usually wait until the last week or so to place my order. It seems to work most of the time. Not sure why they give recent orders higher priority. It might have to do with having less of a chance to cancel the order. Your guess is as good as mine.

Cool cats there, but lately they have been slipping up badly. Like not properly cueing in coupons that could have saved me 20-30% off (not even stacked on Edge Card) games like Madden and Fallout 3. So I can imagine what happens if someone gives out the bags to cats who aren't suppose to get them.

I'm really enjoying it. Don't take the comparison too much to heart, but it has the same feel for exploration as Assassin's Creed. The game does take some getting used to control wise, especially if you play a lot of FPS, and there is some trial and error in navigating the levels.

Well, I just called my local store (It's 11:08 CST time here) to see if they had the bags and/or games in. I don't know. Mine seems pretty sturdy. Nice amount of padding on both sides and the handles seem tied to it pretty well. Doesn't seem super-duper cheap like I was expecting.

My GS actually seemed to be holding the bags for the pre-orders so I got mine with no problem. They actually just got Mirror's Edge in and hadn't even scanned their shipment in yet when I got there (and this was after 1:30pm).

They even threw in a free GOW2 exclusive theme for the new Xbox experience. Guess that was a preorder extra that they had plenty of. Nice!

Went in to pick it up and didnt get my bag. Just like every other time I've pre-ordered (save for Dead space, LBP and GoW2), they didn't get enough to cover. I told them to cancel my pre-order because I'll be buying it elsewhere. Really frustrates me that they promise a bonus and fail to deliver time and time again (Lego games, Eternal sonata, majority of "art book" bonuses) on me. I sent an e-mail to their customer service department....

I know it isn't the store's fault, so it's either the district manager not putting in for enough or some screwy policy to not deliver enough bags / orders.

I went into pick up my COD5 but decided to pop into the gamestop no-one really visits and I know the staff pretty well, we got to talking about the Mirror Edge promo, and he went on to tell me almost half of people who pre-orders called in to cancel but they still got a good portion of the bags, So I said I'd like to buy the game if I could get a bag, he was happy to sell me one, then four other guys came in and started asking if he still had any left to sell, I saw the last four get bought before I even left.. guess it was perfect timing for me for a change..

Picked up my game and bag from the Wilsonville, OR store, using credit from the Hollywood Video flips :). I mentioned to the guy I knew (he was helping someone else, a different clerk was helping me) about the bag, and he was like "Uhh....hold on." He went to the back and pulled one out. He said "I had to check. Yesterday we only had a couple, but got a few more in today, but still not very many." Glad I got mine, although granted, this store doesn't seem to have high traffic (it's pretty small), but very well organized. They had tons of copies of Call of Duty and GoW2 still sitting out.

Also, I wouldn't put a PS3 in the bag. The PS3 is too fucking heavy and dropping it in this bag wouldn't protect it at all. It is pretty cool for other purposes though. Can't wait to see people in major cities with these bags, running and jumping all over shit.

Clerk told me that they've been having a constant flow of customers picking up the game, and that they wouldnt have enough to cover. Im pretty happy that I at least got my bag, but I do wonder how many people are gonna get screwed over by them.

However, I feel kinda bad now as I'm thinking of returning the bag. I have a newborn and my wife got injured so between waiting on them, I didnt make much progress through Fable 2. And I just know that I'll want to play Prince of Persia as soon as it comes out, so that leaves a very limited window for ME. It almost makes more sense, economically, to take the game back and await a % off used coupon. But the yellow bag is just so darn cute!

Or beat it quickly (since it's supposedly a short game) and trade it back in. That way you're only spending like $20 (assuming you get close to $40 back in credit after bonuses). It's definitely not a game you need to invest HOURS in like Fable or Fallout.

Keep the bag, return the game (assuming you haven't opened it). You might want to return at a different GS store than the one you bought the game from.

If you do decide to keep the game, you could probably finish it fairly quick, it's not that long (if time is an issue). Neither is Fable 2, for that matter - I finished that game in about 11 hours.

Anyway, I picked up my bag and game today. It's really cool for what it is (a freebie). I wasn't expecting actual Timbuk2 quality, but it's still well crafted. Will probably use it to hold my notebooks and textbooks, on occasion. Thinking back, it's strange how I wanted a bonus pre-order gift more than the actual game, doesn't happen often.

Played the game through mid-second chapter, the game is really awesome and fun. It breathes a fresh new gaming experience, which is really nice. Ended up getting two bags, I got one when I picked of COD5 in the morning before the game came in. The clerk gave me a bag then. I went back after work to pick the game up, and even though I already said that I picked up a bag already, the guy still gave me a second one.

That second one is on ebay right now, to help recoup the costs of the game.

The game is really really fun.

I ask about it and he acts like he didn't want to answer. He asks a cat I trained and he's like, "Nope all gone." So he tells me it was busy and they were "flying out of here." I let him know I reserved the game, back in July, and was expecting a bag. Cancel it. Then he asks if there is anything I want, as if after jacking up the last several trips to this store I'm going to spend coin.

I ask him if they had Banjo in. Instead of just turning around to the counter, he looks in the computer for a used copy. First he doesn't know how to spell "Banjo" and that the game came out today. So after wasting time looking for it used, he sees they have it new.

Sigh...

As I thought, the store has slipped into BS customer service once I left. Is there a bit of ego involved, yeah. But I ****ing rocked. So I'll get the game elsewhere (Best Buy looks good and it will go towards my Reward Zone/Gamer's Club Account) and call it a day.

So tomorrow I'll call for the manager, let him know what happen. The way I figure, if you don't have enough to cover pre-orders, there should some other compensation for those who are doing Gamestop a favor. Not to mention, I reserved this back in July when the bag thing first came up. They just handed them out like it was nothing to whoever bought the game.

Dude. I feel ya on that one. Like I said previously: I'd be pissed too. All I have to say is after dealing with so many horrible gamestop employees, I give kudos to you and any other employee that actually took pride in helping the customer (even though he/she can be a pain sometimes) and were on top of your sh!t. I cancelled my pre-order on Gamestop.com last night after hearing that people's orders did not come with the bag. I figured that I had too many games to get through and I was mostly getting the game only for the bag.

However, after getting more games at HV, I decided to drop by on the way home to a Gamestop that is out of the way. I go in and ask them about Mirror's Edge and they said they had them in and they had the bags as well. Needless to say, I caved in and bought the game and got my bag.

If everyone is saying the game is short, I'll just return my game tomorrow with receipt for credit back on my EDGE card. I can probably pick this up like I did Motorstorm: Pacfiic Rift for only $29 used.

I managed to get a bag at one of the GS's that doesn't get much business (there were maybe three preorders at this one, while there were at least twenty at the GS down the street). I called ahead and made sure they had enough to fill all the preorders, but it's a good thing I went down there anyway, because one of the bags turned out to be badly damaged (the bottom was ripped pretty severely). All the more incentive to eBay the thing instead of keeping it, if it breaks so easily.

For those of you who wanted the thing to keep, don't worry about it too much. It feels rather cheaply made.

Yeah, those bags were at the top of the box IIRC - with no additional protection at the top of the box. That's the last thing I'd assume would be at the top of the box, an unprotected piece of cloth, but there ya go.

Finally... After an angry e-mail to customer service full of curse words, GameStop decided to ship me the messenger bag! I just received a shipping confirmation notice!

That was some bullshit GameStop pulled though. First I get the reply saying that I would receive a bag and my order was canceled because of a technical glitch. 10 days later I fire off an e-mail asking where it was. They reply that preorder bonuses are "limited in quanitity." The issue I had with that reply was that the previous e-mail already promised me a bag. So apparently GameStop lied. I replied saying that their customer service was a bunch of bullshit. The next day they said these items were limited, and they would look for a bag for me. A couple of days later (today), I get confirmation. What assholes!
