Ok, this has been happening for the past two days and I feel like doing a roll back and see if this fixes the problem but wanted to hear your thoughts first.
XP home will boot, start it's load cycle but then when what appears for it to try to load everything to the left system clock (the tray?) it doesn't load any of it and I could hear the hard drive just stop reading. I checked msconfig and disabled anything I saw that *might* cause the problem and in a few attempts I am able to boot XP Home up. In safe mode it does work fine (since there is no drivers). If I try to move my mouse to the bottom of the screen I get the hour glass icon and I cannot access the Start menu or load any desktop short cuts. Ctrl-Alt-Del does bring up my task manager fine, and it looks like my CPU and memory useage does not really move. It's like XP home just stops and doesn't want to move.
When I boot to XP Pro, everything works fine. No problems what so ever. I know my primary and secondary hard drives are not in great shape (C and D) because of the tools I have used say they are on a caution level (I think one is 6 years old and the other 5 to 6 years old.)
Anways, before I do a roll back any suggestions on what it could be? I haven't really installed anything lately except the stuff from giveawayoftheday.com (mostly video converters for my cellphone). No problems so far. I wonder if it's my boot sector on my primary drive that's starting to fail since I did install XP Pro on my D drive and XP home on my C.
Any ideas?
