I had an employee check on the price of The Darkness for me, and as he's getting it out he says "PS3 games are 59 bucks, but I'll still check it for you anyways." He scans it and the look on his face was priceless when it showed $13 and change. He eventually mumbles "is this a demo or something?" He made the deal feel that much better :P

Dude it's Geometry Wars Galaxies and it's better and deeper than the 360 version.

This one has levels and a bigger variety of enemies.

My FAVORITE part of CAG is when you know the deals are good and the employee reactions. Today I picked up "The Darkness" and the lady ringing me out didn't really "say" anything but the game was marked at $59.99 and she said it was $14.XX she thought something was up.

As I mentioned in the other thread I picked up both Lost and The Darkness at two different CC's for $13.XX price. Good deal as I almost bought The Darkness at BB list for $20+

Anyone else's Circuit City switch to having empty copies on display with sealed copies in the back?

My store did this, apparently the display copy is an actual copy that an employee opens and puts out on the shelf...I walked up to the counter with Harvey Birdman Wii, Lost 360, Dragon Blade, and Godfather Wii. The employee went in the back and said the only sealed copy they had was Godfather, but that he would knock a couple bucks off the opened copies...I passed on Lost as it was a gift but that I'd be willing to take his offer on the others if i could see the condition of the discs. He then comes back with the disc for Dragon Blade and says that Harvey Birdman is missing.

Awesome sauce, Circuit City.

The disc for DB looks to be unused, so I say okay. He gives me DB for $9.99 and Godfather for $9.99 as well "for my trouble," even though it's new/sealed. Cool.

Asked him if I could get a price guarantee for some clearance games I had bought that were now 20% off. He had to take a supervisor request phone call first, so I went back and grabbed Obscure for the Wii and Dungeon Siege, which had the price sticker UNDERNEATH the plastic seal. I pointed this out and he said that they aren't supposed to have display copies for PSP games, and gave me Obscure (which is new/sealed) for $11.99 and the display copy of Dungeon Siege for $7.99. Also cool.

It's a shame I couldn't buy all of the games I wanted and pay a few more bucks for sealed copies because of this stupid practice, but at least this employee was willing to make up for another poor decision on Circuit City's part. I'm going to miss these clearances after they go out of business.

They had a huge bin of PS2 games at my CC, honestly I do not remember a whole lot other than Battlefront II and MGS3 (which you could go in the back and get for 10). I ended up only snagging Godfather but that's the one I wanted anyways so it was worth the trip.

They also had a Monster Hunter Freedom 2 for 16.96. All of them rang at full price and had to be manually adjusted, and I'm sure whoever stickered them got them confused with the prequels/earlier versions that are actually on clearance.

I also found that CC is beginning to wise up to the fact that the Gamer cards are not valid on clearance games, only regularly priced stuff as it states on the back of the card. Half the stores in my area will not honor the 10% discount on top of a clearance price anymore.

A few months ago I spent about $50 on clearance games and the manager who was ringing me up even suggested I get the card if I spend that much on games.

I bought something on Wednesday without the 20% off and even worse I saw someone last Sunday buy a copy of NiGHTS for $29.99 plus tax. If I were them I would be annoyed that I could get it for less than half of that just a few days later.

I wish I had known about the list as they are really bad at checking the shelves thoroughly and I could've scoped out the games in-section. If you've read these CC clearance threads, you've noticed that CC's clearance prices are not permanent drops. Even in this thread people are saying some clearance games have gone *up* in price since an earlier clearance.

If a "clearance" price is a regular price, what differentiates a clearance item from everything else? A clearance is an unsanctioned, progressive, "permanent" *sale price* (ie a permanent price below the retail/regular price set by the publisher).

The language on the reverse of the Gamer card can indeed be used to enforce non-discounting of (already discounted) clearance items. Just because they have been doing it does not mean they were supposed to be doing it. These were supervisors/managers that were denying me, specifically saying that clearance games are not regularly priced. I've been using my card for 8 months, and only in the last two days have I been denied and at multiple stores. Coincidence you say? These managers had no idea the games were 20% off the clearance price. That had nothing to do with it.

Sure, Circuit City will still give the extra 10% on clearance games, but they do all sorts of things they shouldn't do. At one store yesterday, the register automatically took 10% off the 20%-off price. No manual discounting here. When the card is scanned in correctly it will take 10% off the current price even if the game is "on sale". It's up to the cashier to say no, but they have no clue. I get 10% off the "sale" price all the time. I got the 10% Gamer discount on GTAIV *and* the $10 giftcard on release day. Were they supposed to do all this? No. They did it anyway, and I didn't even ask for it. Every time I go to CC the first cashier doesn't know how to apply the Gamer discount, and a few times they've gone through 3 people before they give up and manually adjust everything. A couple times I actually taught the cashier how to do it (scan the card first, blah blah blah), and I've never worked there. So, how do we know they are supposed (ie corporate says) to give the Gamer discount on clearance items? I just hope I get a 16 year old kid who knows how to manually adjust and doesn't know any better to ring me up. :P

All I'm saying is that there may have been communication from corporate in the last few days trickling down, perhaps just regionally. Watch for it.

I hate the Gamer Card. It always takes them an extra 5 minutes just to figure out how to get it to work, and that is assuming they are able to. I went to 2 CCs today and at the second I stood around for almost 10 minutes while they screwed around and then finally I just paid $13.57 per game. I'm half tempted to contact corporate and demand 10% off the purchase or give me a refund for the Gamer Card. They told me when I got the card it could be used on all games and accessories, they didn't tell me anything about how it can only be used for regular prices.

My CC did the same thing - this morning, I picked up DQM: J and Picross ($15) and they were both display copies. I picked up the last copy of DQM in the store, so they had to put the cartridge from the back in the display box and told me that since it's not new and sealed, he'd bring it down to $12.99 from the $16.96 price (I missed the 20% sale), so I was pleasantly surprised and got out of there with 2 games under $30, so I'm a happy camper.

I'm pondering going back for Dragon Blade and hope that Crackdown goes on clearance soon - I'd like to get that display copy deal again!

The month I splurge on a 24 inch monitor, 5.1 computer speakers, and the orange box, both Nights and Wario Master of Disguise hit the bite zone for me... fuck. Of course I don't have the money for either right now since I need to renew my WoW sub and buy a PC controller too, lol.

This is still a good clearance, I picked up Sega Rally revo and the darkness which were empty box on the shelf they were labeled 16.96 and I brought them to the coutner and they couldn't find the games so they gave me half off each game so I only paid $8 a game ha! and the rally revo was still labeled 59.99!

i use my 10% gamers savings card all the time on clearance games ......except this one CC which has extremely old systems. The cashier has to do a manual override.

Ive always used it on clearance games... a couple months ago picked up a HUGE haul from a CC... so big that it essentially paid for my gamer card... used it the other week on Lost and NFL Head Coach... paid about 15 for the both... 20% off clearance games, and 10 off with gamer card... the trick is they need to scan the card before the games... it didnt work otherwise on anything...
