That sounds great...except I thought Gears of War WAS Gears of War with a survival-horror paint job :D

I thought the middle third of that took on a bit of a survival horror feel, which is the main thing I liked about it, and the only thing that kind of separated it from most FPS to me. It's no Resident Evil, but it still had some creative (by FPS standards) scenarios in there, at least during the middle of the game. Pushing it further in that direction would probably make it more fun to me.

I agree with some of the other comments, it's a great value at $30 and a steal at $20. I played through it on PS3 and had a lot of fun, the cover system and gun play is a little broken but the Glaive is completely addictive and a great gameplay mechanic that I hope they can build upon in future games. I'm really considering picking this up for another play through.

I got the Demo on PS3 and I like the glaive. The power throws are tough to do and with the SIXAXIS controlling the Glaive is tough but a good idea. If the PS3 version was $20 I would totally bite xb people are getting lucky with the amazon deals.

I bought the game before the demo came out, so I don't know what the demo consists of for sure. However, I've heard the demo is sections from chapters 3 and 4, which were my least favorite parts of the game. The game really takes off at the boss battle at the end of chapter 4, and from there through the end (there are 10 chapters) it was awesome.

I picked the game up for the DOTD a few days ago. I was a bit hesitant because i though most of the reviews were lackluster but the last 3 or 4 games I've really enjoyed have had good user review but lackluster journalistic reviews. I fear as our industry is getting more and more mainstream and tastes are continuing to diversify many journalists have started to become as irrelevant as movie critics.

I have a backlog of about 12 games myself but at 20 bucks its worth a play through or worse comes to worse it colects dust for 6 months and I sell it for 8 bucks to a GC or EB.

Either way, just called somewhere in India and got my refund for the $2 something extra I paid. It was rather scary and sad that I spent a good 5 minutes arguing with the guy about how I could have paid $20.91 for it last week and now it's $18.61 but somehow he says I'm getting back $2.03 + tax. After the fun 5 minute dialogue, he profusely apologized after I asked to speak to his supervisor (probably sitting next to him like that SNL skit) and he took "another moment" to check his math. It was fun and all for $2.30 + tax. I love CAG :razz:

Why do you guys insist on calling to get the refund? If you do it by e-mail, you will never have a problem and they have a very easy to use form for doing it. During the last batch of clearance games last month, I had to do five adjustments and each time they processed them accurately and quickly.

I hated the Turok demo. It felt like Doom 3 but even darker never even got out of the cave I was so annoyed but for this price and the fact that all of the gameplay videos look like a lot of fun (and brighter) I couldn't resist. I miss the old n64 turoks.

As for Dark Sector I think I'm going to hold out for the PS3 version to drop to $20 or less. I really enjoyed the six axis controls in Heavenly Sword and I'm not really an achievement whore.

Dark Sector is a good game...worth the money.

Turok is ok. It is to dark at times, even with the TV cranked up. Some parts of the game are fun, and some parts will have you scream because the controls just don't feel tight. The co-op maps are worth the 20 bucks though. Fun with friends.

Damn.. I'm glad people are getting Dark Sector because the price is tempting (and I hope it opens a few eyes.. it's a sleeper hit) but I kinda hope they continue plans on the sequel and don't get discouraged by the poor sales.

Why do you guys insist on calling to get the refund? If you do it by e-mail, you will never have a problem and they have a very easy to use form for doing it. During the last batch of clearance games last month, I had to do five adjustments and each time they processed them accurately and quickly.

Agreed. It is really easy to shoot them an email and everything is done quickly and automatically.

On a different note, don't base your judgement of Turok on the demo. The game is better then that. And the online had some fun moments. The only thing about it is, it doesn't have auto aim adjustment, which makes it more of a challenge to target things. That may turn some people off slightly.

Yeah, I would have gotten it too. Did get Assassin's Creed as it was close to $20 and it was in my Gold Box too. I *STILL* don't know which system should be my primary, but I don't feel AS bad about buying 360 games now that I know this fall I'll be able to play them without the system sounding like a blender.

I've been playing Dark Sector from when this first hit below $20 at Amazon and it is indeed a good game. Entertaining gameplay built around the glaive weapon and a look and feel that brings to mind both Gears and the lab/night sections of RE4. It isn't as good as either of those greats, but it puts on a good show nonetheless.

I hated the demo because the dinos were too fast to kill with the guns. Since I picked up the full game, I realized that it's much easier using the knife on them when they get close. Maybe I missed it in the demo when it popped up on screen telling me that or something, but that really reduced the hate factor for me. It's really pretty fun now. Nothing revolutionary, but fun.

Great game. Easily the best Gears-type out there. Story sucks, but duh. Gameplay and graphics are superb. Its a deal at $40.
