Keeping with the theme of the most overrated movie of the past year in the other thread....

What movie DIDN'T get the accolades it deserved (be it higher reviews or a higher box office take).

My vote: A Mighty Wind.

I didn't hear good things about Elf, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I have to agree. Just reading abouts some of the stuff that the cast and crew went through to make this movie is truly amazing.

Equlibrium, very good movie but too many people brushed it off as another Matrix ripoff.

Definitely 28 Days Later, loved that movie. Although I did like that storyboarded ending on the dvd much better...

The Matrix Revolutions, I still don't get why all of the critics hated it.

I don't know about the most underrated, but, I'll tell you the most overrated (IMO) was "LOST IN TRANSLATION" This movie was just way boring and not one bit funny to me,I feel asleep!!!

American Splendor. Its a shame most people couldn't take a movie that isn't cheery all the way through. As someone who's married to an artist thats writes her self produced comics, it was extremely uplifting. Extremely recommended.

Open Range with Kevin Costner and Robert Duvall...the best western since unforgiven and quite possibly the best Robert Duvall movie since THX-1138

and 28 days sucked ass...the story was so full of holes..and I think the director just watches too much MTV

Lost in Translation was a very good movie...not for everyone though..you have to have taste to enjoy it.

Elf-still waiting to see

American Splendor was very very good as well.

Equlibrium-Yeah...quite possibly the winner here. This is the movie that EVERYONE should see. Quite possibly the most underrated film since resevoir dogs. That movie wasn't big either until it was on video and started to catch on. If you havent seen this DO IT NOW and dont think of it as a matrix rip off because quite frankly...its not...it has a story that makes sense with a solid ending. If Matrix had half the plot line that Equlibrium did then Matrix could have been the movie of the year.

umm..yeah I see lots of movies. I worked in a video store for years and I know too much...I think I have seen almost every major film dating back into the 30s.

oh..and Might wind was just cute and if you are under 30 then dont bother it will just bore you

Bad Santa

Went to the theatre to see something else (I think we were shooting for a Last Samurai showing), which we promptly missed the start of, decided to check it out, and laughed our asses off.

I particularly like the part where the [vertically challenged] guy falls over like a sack of potatos after being socked in the [groin].
