9/24:
Microsoft announced today that the N64 classic “Banjo-Kazooie” will be released exclusively on Xbox Live Arcade on November 26 , 2008.
“Banjo-Kazooie” for Xbox LIVE Arcade will retail for 1200 Microsoft points, or $15 when it launches this November . However, there is still time to take advantage of the “Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts” pre-order offer. Those who pre-order Banjo’s latest adventure at participating retailers not only get Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts but also receive, a complimentary code to redeem “Banjo-Kazooie,” from Xbox LIVE Arcade nearly 2 weeks before it’s global release. Consumers who participate in this pre-order program receive the added benefit of getting their hands on the goodies that await to be unlocked in “Stop N’ Swop” Before anyone else.
Initially conceived for the original Nintendo 64 version of “Banjo-Kazooie” ten years ago, “Stop N’ Swop” will finally come to fruition on the Xbox 360. “Stop N’ Swop” is a feature that rewards players’ accomplishments in the Xbox LIVE Arcade game by unlocking extra content and features in “Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.”
As if “Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts” and “Banjo-Kazooie” weren’t enough, “Banjo-Tooie” is also heading to Xbox LIVE Arcade in early 2009, making Xbox 360 the new home of the beloved “Banjo-Kazooie” franchise.http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/17657/BanjoKazooie-for-Xbox-Live-Arcade-Dated/
July 14, 2008 - At its E3 press conference, Microsoft announced that Rare's original Banjo platformer will be released this year for the Xbox Live Arcade. The game will feature slightly upgraded visuals and the long awaited "stop and swap" functionality originally promised at its release more than 10 years ago.
Many will remember that the first Banjo-Kazooie (http://xbox360.ign.com/objects/142/14265992.html) game promised to interact with Banjo-Tooie. That didn't pan out, but that feature will finally be realized on Xbox 360. By finding specific items in Banjo-Kazooie on Xbox Live Arcade, you will be able to unlock things in Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts.http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/886/886920p1.html

I'm just wondering how they ever expected to get Stop N Swap to work on the N64, since it saves to the cartridge.

Very excited. For me this is the best news to come from the three press conferences.

On board memory would've given players about ten seconds to take out Banjo Tooie and put in Banjo Kazooie (or was it the other way around?) and get the content. With revisions to the N64, it reduced the time available to switch the game to about a second, so they ditched the feature.

Super excited for this, hopefully it comes out before Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts. The only thing that confuses me a bit is that only the first Banjo game is confirmed, then why not Banjo-Tooie? Hopefully Tooie comes along eventually, but will buy this no matter what.
Edit: and it wasn't the memory card that was goign to be used for SNS, it was the Expansion Pak, I believe.

While I would like to see Banjo-Tooie as well, I think that the writer of that article may have made an erroneous assumption. It looks as if he assumes that Tooie was coming BECAUSE of the Stop and Swap inclusion announcement. The info released so far indicates that Stop and Swap was instead retooled to work between Banjo 1 and the new Nuts and Bolts game.
This doesn't mean Tooie is NOT eventually coming, just that the linked article isn't necessarily correct in announcing it. i.e. Don't get your hopes up too high.

I read that the same way...there's no credibility there, its just pure speculation. The Stop N' Swop never worked so the inclusion of it on the first game could mean that it will be available by mere unlocking of additional puzzles or by the connectivity feature with "Nuts & Bolts".

Sexy. Wonder if they'll do anything to Tooie about it's missing Swap N' Shop. To my understanding, the NEW SNS in BK is to link with BK360, but it'd be great if they could get the original SNS working for the Live Arcade games too (wishful thinking, I know)

the achievements are clever, but I don't like that for the most part, they are the "beat the game, get the achievements" type. I like it better when you have to do extra or challenging things to earn some, not just play the game normally. Only one that people might not normally do would be the Jigsaw maker achievement, because it's not obvious that you can go to Banjo's house and do timed jigsaw puzzles (I think it was in Banjo's house at least)

Then I remember I get tax from amazon and it raises back up to $25 :bomb:

For one, the game looks better. It’s not any kind of major graphical overhaul, like say Bionic Commando Rearmed, but the game definitely looks bright and polished and in HD. It’s analogous to the restoration of a painting, where years of soot and dirt are removed to reveal the artist’s original intention. Banjo-Kazooie on XBLA looks like it’s made from the same models and textures, just very cleanly and with some lovely anti-aliasing to boot.

I'm guessing the "improved graphics" are along the lines of Ocarina of Time on Gamecube. Higher resolutions just smooths all the jagged and blurry edges and makes everything pop a little more. I really wish I had a widescreen TV for this though :(

There's the Stop N' Swoop that links this game to "Nuts & Bolts"...then in 2009 we'll see Banjo-Tooie...which may use the same feature with either B-K and/or BK-N&B so I'd say its a possibility.

That's fine with me. The original was awesome, I'd rather see as little changes as possible outside of Widescreen support, Progressive scan (both seem very in), and just making it less jaggy than the original. [Remember the whole, N64 games are meant to look better but the hardware holds it back? The revamped BK looks a lot like Banjo-Tooie did on Project64 with some additional smoothing and hi-rez options on]

IIRC, it's in an alcove you need to fly to get, on the side of the mountain. I believe it is fairly high, towards the top, on the outside portion (ie, not in the inner arch where the stairs are. Picked up my copy of N&B today and went straight to this. Got through the first two worlds with 10 jiggies and 100 notes, but I forget where the second honeycomb is in Treasure Trove Cove.
I got the one above the crate way out in the ocean. Anyone know where the other one is?
It's in the ocean in a corner of the mountain close to where Nipper is. You also can find a Jiggy close to that area.
I downloaded my copy of Banjo Kazooie for XBLA and i played it through 2 levels. got all 20 jiggies and 200 music notes. exited the world. waited for it to save then turned off my 360.
Next time i played the game, my save file was gone. wtf? has this happened to anyone else?
even on my achievement friends leaderboards it shows my record of what i had. but my save file just vanished. Weak.

From what I saw getting my code from gamestop, it doesn't seem as though they're the most organized bunch. The customer service number had a pre-recorded message about how to get the M1A1 Code for W@W and the guy who helped me didn't seem surprised my code wasn't mailed.

Woot, just finished. That was a fun run. First time in a long time I got all 100 notes in Click Clock Wood in one go! Ranked 38 overall. Not bad, but could have done much better. Really screwed up Treasure Trove Cove (took too long), and somehow missed one note in Rusty Bucket Bay, so had to scour the level for that. Wonder what'll happen to that rank once people get their codes, and it gets official release though. Top fucker did it in slightly over 3 hours. I tip my hat to him.

Well, the framerate's much improved, the graphics are for the most part cleaned up (for better or worse), and they had to go ahead and change some lines from the original (jackasses). So I guess it holds up pretty well. Nintendo N64 titles seem to hold up pretty well IMO.

Not really, no. I got an N64 last year and played through most of the Nintendo first party titles. This game just feels so much clunkier. The graphical cleanup was nice but there were still plenty of times I felt like I was fighting the controls. I'm glad I played through it and feel it was a nice bonus to my Nuts and Bolts preorder but...I really don't understand the good will this game gets overall.
If I hadn't gotten it for free there's no way in hell I would have paid for it. I played through and got my achievements and Stop 'n Swop parts but I'm never going to play this again.

My biggest problem with the arcade release has been when some strange reason it missed up my note total in Mad Monster Mansion. I was stuck at 96 notes even after scouring the entire stage five times. I eventually just decided to make a new file rushed up to Mad Monster Mansion and got 100 notes after doing nothing differently. Might have been a glitch with the altered note collection saving. Now just need to beat Click Clock Woods again and I'll have all 900 notes. So irritating.
I don't know what's up with cochesecochese's version since the only time i feel like the controls are clunky is when activating the gold feathers. Otherwise it doesn't feel much different from the original control-wise and I played the hell out of that game. Second favorite n64 game period

This game is actually pretty fun! I had never played it before on the N64, and heard it was a major collect-a-thon, part of the reason why I stopped playing DK64 after a while, but it's really not as bad in comparison. This is definitely a great add-on deal to getting Nuts and Bolts.
STUPID egg in the 3rd (i think) level. Am I really stupid? Should it really be this hard? I cracked it 3 times, but the 4th time I tried punching, pecking, egg throwing, everything - it just won't crack. Not sure why i'm rambling on about this as I don't really want an answer. I just want to know if I'm stupid, I guess.

I think I read earlier on Joystiq that said the XBLA game's becoming public on December 3rd.
Don't know if this was mentioned yet, but there seems to be a slight glitch with the "learn all moves" achievement. I accidentally skipped the swamp level and ended up in the desert (I thought it was weird that they'd make you wade through the piranha-infested waters without the rubber boots, but I wrote that off as an N64 quirk ). I ended up finding Bottles, who gave Banjo the speed shoes, and then he said I unlocked all of Banjo's moves (unlocking the achievement at the same time). Nothing major, but if this is your first time playing this game (it is for me), you might get a little confused.
This is the first and only time I've ever played Banjo Kazooie (played Banjo Tooie on the N64, but never played the original), and I think it holds up well. It has some camera quirks, but several high-profile N64 titles had some issue with the camera, so it's not unique in that aspect. Aiming with eggs and the flight dash is a little tricky, but other than that, I think it's pretty good.

about 50 Jiggies in and still loving this. i had no idea that this was still an exclusive to those who pre-ordered. pretty cool that they're EXTENDING that window, too. i'd have to say that this game definitely holds up well (i'm guessing the N64 version had more jaggies?) hopefully I can finish this up over the weekend so i can start N&B (if amazon ever gets it to me :bomb:)

It took me about 12 hours to get all achievement points (aka collect everything in the game), and this has been my first play-through ever. On the one hand it is quite a bit of entertainment. You're getting a full (albeit aged) game for the 15 bucks. There's plenty of content there and the achievements are pretty straightforward. The problem is that it's still an old game and it plays like one. I did feel that the game was a much more a collectathon with little missions sprinkled about rather than a proper platformer.
If I hadn't gotten it for free with Nuts & Bolts I wouldn't have paid the full price for it. I personally do not recommend getting it at 1200 points.
