View Full Version : Need some help with Adblock Plus filter

For some reason, Adblock is blocking everyone's avatar from showing up in threads, and even on the front page with the little "mini" boxes you can see now.
I've tried enabling one avatar and then changing it's end user ID (since they all point back to someone's user ID on here) to a wildcard asterisk, hoping that it would realize "hey anything from this address under any number is fine," but it's not working.
If someone knows how I should add/edit/write the filter and where to insert it into Adblock Plus, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks all!
For the record, I have no idea how this happened. But sure enough if I look at blockable items on a page, everyone's avatars are listed. And I'd rather not have to go through and manually uncheck each and every one.

What's the filter you're using now?
If I wanted to block your avatar (just for example), I'd use this:
http://*cheapassgamer.com/forums/image.php?u=2432&dateline=1202294458I'm not sure what the dateline part is for, but in case that updates when someone changes their avatar or something, you could change it to:
http://*cheapassgamer.com/forums/image.php?u=2432&*Then just replace the 2432 with someone else's user number. I'm not sure what else image.php might get used for, so use the second filter with caution.

What's the filter you're using now?
I'm using Easylist, but that's a subs, not a filter.
The thing I'm getting at is that it appears that somehow I enabled a filter that kills all avatars, and I have no damn clue how I did that. I don't want to have to waste time enabling them all one by one.
Testing your suggestions out.
Edit: Ok, so here's the location of an avatar:
http://*cheapassgamer.com/forums/image.php?u=2432&dateline=1202294458
Blockable items says it's getting filtered out by:
/image.php?*&
Is that a usual filter? Or did I enable it on some other site and it killed avatars here?

Well... I'm using Easylist and I don't have that filter. You could try deleting it.
Try right clicking on that in the "Blockable items..." box and selecting "Edit filter in effect..." and then delete it.
Or you could try adding an exception. I'd suggest one like
@@http://*cheapassgamer.com/forums/image.php?u=*&dateline=*

That did it - they are showing up now.
Thanks you two!
I figured it was an asterisk somewhere, but two asterisks? Mind is blow/oh the humanity.
I'll be copying this down in a text file just in case.
If a mod runs across this, feel free to shut it down.

Why have CAG in the filter anyway? Easylist blocks ads on this site to begin with.
