Something is fucked up, it tells me I have to agree to the new terms of use to be on XBL...when I click view terms of use, nothing happens. I can back out, but my friends don't show up. I'm assuming other things are limited as well.

In case anyone else has this problem - I figured out how to fix it. If you have your Windows ID and Gamertag linked on the XBox site, you can log in there and it'll give you the same prompt....accepting the new terms there fixed it on my 360.

I imagine a lot of the slowness is just the servers getting hammered with people downloading the new dash, and staying on and playing around with the new features. The Live server load is likely much higher than normal this evening.

Also, has anyone noticed some kind of wavy lines when running the 1680x1050 on a TV with that as the native resolution? Their very faint, but I don't notice them on any of the other resolutions. Anybody else having that issue too?

I picked up the Rock Band 2 theme and don't regret it. Even though every person on your friends list has the same amp background, the foreground is different (drum sets, guitar, bass, etc).

I just wish you could pick which one you could choose for certain people, or which one people could select for themselves.

And for those wondering about my Netflix "video buffering" problems.. the update earlier today did indeed fix this error and I was able to watch two episodes of CSI with it only buffering once or twice each episode. Very nice.

If you install Silverlight, you will see pictures of the different updates in a little box that you can move left or right (with a little joystick onscreen) much like what you see in the NXE.

This happened to me and I was just staring at a black screen going ahh ok. Shut down the console, waited a bit, turned it back on and signed on automatically and was experiencing the NXE.

I've been playing around with it and honestly think this is one of the worst ideas Microsoft has ever come up with. There's so much needless fluff and pointless bullshit they've taken what was a very bland but functional dashboard and turned it into something that Play-School would want to release.

I really hope they provide the option to go back to the original dashboard. Outside of the ability to install games on the hard-drive there's absolutely nothing here for me.

As flawed as it is, the PS3 now has the best dashboard/set-up system.

Yes, two or three times. Browsing friends, it will sometimes just hang up for a good solid minute or so, but this never happened in the preview. The photo share app freezes a lot too, especially if you are trying to access photos over a network - but I think that's just a buggy app, not the dashboard itself.

Games such as Halo 3 is actually worse because the game was optimize to cache to the HD from the DVD frequently, so if it was installed to the HD it would cache onto itself and basically slowdown the loadtime progress.

Other than that most of the numbers were about similar to the ones ive installed myself as well.

I finally tried it out last night - pretty cool stuff. I made some wacky avatar and deleted all of my 0 GS games. I don't have room on my HD to try out the game install though (damn Rock Band and its awesomeness). The one criticism I have is that scrolling through the Friends List is clunky.

I don't know if it's been posted or not, I haven't seen it listed in any comparison charts, but the difference on Guitar Hero: World Tour when installed is like night and day. It cut down on load times, completely eliminated other load times, and made the game tolerable to play without it having to load every other second.

Yeah some games I've noticed a substantial amount of decrease in load times, like GH and L4D... others haven't done much difference.

I think what will happen is that games will start having it built in with the hard drive option to possibly make it load faster with a patch update. Its the way it reads the data, like in Halo, which is why there isn't much of a decrease in load times. We are talking about few seconds when we really want a minute off the load time.

Everyone is having it. The load on Live is causing freezing issues, mostly in the friends list.

Well, I've played with it a bit, and I like it.
Sure it's a bit cutesee, but so friggin' what. If you don't like it, hit the Xbox button and use the small blade system.
One of my friends avatars actually does look like him. Impressive (in a silly kind of way).
I LOVE the install to hard drive feature. Playing Gears2, I can actually hear the critters all over the place, instead of missing half the game because I can't hear it over the disc drive. Love it.
I appreciate being able to delete game history for games with "0" gamerscore.
I like how quickly everything moves along from menus, to window panes.

One big problem with these community games, though, it seems there is an arbitrary time limit placed on all the trials. In many of the games you don't even get out of the tutorial before it ends. I may have bought Weapon of Choice, or Blow, had I been able to actually try the game.

I've only had one really random thing happen thus far. I was in a party and got the invite to join in our session of World at War, but when I accepted it I was sent to a demo of Lost Planet. I don't even have a demo of Lost Planet on my hard drive!

I'm liking the hard drive installs so far. I've only done it on WaW and GOW2 and only played multiplayer since installing, so loading times are irrelevant, but it's rediculously quiet. The disc spins once to make sure it's in there, and then it sounds just like you're sitting at the dashboard the entire time you're playing. I was able to keep my TV volume down lower and still be able to hear people sneaking up on me.

I wouldn't think so, but if you go to my xbox and go to system then memory, you can delete the full game there, it's seperate from the saved game.. that way you can rest easy. I wouldn't feel safe just going to where the disc menu is, hitting Y and hitting "delete game".

You could change your windows live account region to Japan which would take your current points along with you maybe. You can't change it back for 30 days however. I'd do it if there were no worse problems then being locked out of exclusive US content.

You know I was thinking how awesome it would be when "Zombies!" Comes out on XBLA that your Avatar could be your player in the game and when you get killed by a zombie it would show your Avatar getting chewed to pieces. Sadly I know it won't happen, but it would be so awesome.

I think it is a little silly how the Avatars can only be used in E games considering that there are so many games for the 360 that are well, higher than that.

One thing that I think could really help, even borrowing from Vista, is a universal search option. Just type in what you are looking for and it can search your Hard Drive, friends and XBL Marketplace.

Another thing I heard is that eventually they will try to connect XBL to social networks including Facebook and Myspace. Might be kinda cool especially if they really use it as tools to connect and play games.

The IPTV thing has still yet to happen though.

I still don't know why there are not full screen shots of themes and stuff because they have screen shots of demos now. And I kind of want to see what they come up with for the outfits. I think that they should have free downloads for basic stuff to have people interested in them. The premium stuff would be more costumes say like Master Chief or Ryu.

BTW, wtf did EA release a Monopoly 360 game and not have it on Xbox Live or compatible. Would seem to work perfect with the Avatars. If like they do a whole Board Game thing where you can download them and swap back and forth with ease, that would be great. I mean Connect Four is so easy but make it a cheap fun download.

1.when you are in your video library, you cant sort by type anymore by pressing Y, instead Y is play now
2.another big gripe is that all that time spent on the NXE and you still cant fast forward/rewind music, WTF? (correct me if i'm wrong, please)

Yeah. For now, when you want to browse the marketplace, do it through the guide button.
Hit the guide button and find the marketplace stuff in there. It will bring up alphabetical listings and genre listings instead of the coverflow stuff, until it shows you a selection of movies/games.

Okay, I'll play with it more that way-thanks! I was somehow able to get an actual listing listing last night, but it was confusing to get to, and I'm thinking "why isn't this just the default?"

I am guessing most people have had at least a year with the old blade system. Give this system a year and then you won't even remember the blades. This probably wasn't in response to mine specifically, but like I said in my first post, that isn't it. The blade system (and the PSP/PS3 XMB) is intuitive and really has no learning curve at all if you're familiar with computers or electronics. There's an obvious section you go to for whatever.

None of those took me ANY time to adjust to-this is the very first console interface I've not just instantly understood. I guess you can say its already a given, majority of games do run much faster ie: Lost Odyssey, The Orange Box improved drastically, other games such as Gears of War 2, Burnout Paradise you'll see little improvements mainly cause the game is optimized well. Games that gets worse w/ installation is Halo 3 because of their cache to HD optimization that is still there even when its installed to the HD causing it to cache twice which = longer load time.

I already replied w/ some sites showing a chart of games improved and I guess a lot of people already know and theres those who dont care so its not that big to having another thread just for it. I guess it would help if the first page did have more info on this so I dont have to keep replying to it lol.

All I have to say is this. Party Chat = the best thing ever to hit xbox.

Now I can completely ignore every douche bag in every game and still talk to ALL of my friends. It sucked when you could only talk to one at a time.
It's nice. Except that now everyone in gears of war 2 is able to use the camera system when they die and tell their buddies where everyone is.

It's starting to get really annoying. It's almost impossible to sneak up on someone because everyone has eyes in the back of their heads now.

Has anybody else noticed their console taking a bit longer to shutdown?

When I hold the guide button and choose turn off Console, the screen goes black, but my 360 continues to stay on for 10 seconds or so. During that time, it flashes only the power button (like it does when you are downloading something with the power off).

It shuts off as it normally does...it's just taking a bit longer. Not really worried about it, but I am curious if anybody else noticed it.

I noticed this as well. I assumed it was meant to flush out all the remaining hot air inside the case to extend life.

It depends if you enable "Let downloads finish in the background."

I enabled it and noticed a ten-second delay after shutting down my 360. I really do need to disable that setting again.

I've had that feature enabled since its release, and it only started this process since the NXE update. It's happening even when I do not have any downloads running (unless the NXE downloads something anonymously.)

It's not a big issue for me...I just wanted to make sure it was a common occurance.

Does installing a game to you Hard drive actually make it faster? If so, I'm surprised someone hasn't created a new discussion on it or add it in the first post of games that run better.

Well, I've said this twice already in this thread (but it moves fast so those comments are buried many pages back) - Civ Rev is MUCH better with the HD install. I mean, the noise reduction is all I need from this - any benefit in increased speed/faster load times is just a bonus. But Civ Rev really stuttered around when it had to access the disc, and game saves (for some reason) were slow. It has all been sped up dramatically and the game is a much smoother experience now.

I plan on installing anything I play more than once. So far all I have on there is Civ Rev and GHWT. I have about 36 GB free, so I guess that is only enough for about 3 or 4 more games depending on the size. But then again, I have at least 20 (full game) demos on there I could get rid of if necessary. I've been hesitant only because they are so big and a pain to re-download if I ever want them. But then again, I have such a huge backlog of real games, who needs a backlog of demos? :lol:

It would be nice if the requirement was a once-a-week disc check or something instead of having to have the disc in there each time (simply for convenience). But then I guess that could get exploited for extended rentals ;). Or maybe just an every-other-play check (but then I guess people would just leave a game on till they beat it). OK, I guess I see why they did what they did...

I've certainly found it to be worth it, even if it's only to quiet the system down a bit. Look around for deals and it won't be as bad either.

- Social: Linking your gamertag to various social networks. Similar to how Apple has them on the iTunes store. You can download a Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, etc. You can post messages and link to other friends.
- Networks: Create various groups for either websites, friends, clans. This would solve issues with limiting the number of friends on a single person's list. You can view what networks people are a part of. So say, you join the CAG network. We can all see one another on the list and then play games and add people to our list or even hide people. Part of this will include a event system.
- Network Events: A calendar system where you can schedule out a time to meet up for a certain game. Would be like what Microsoft is trying to do with it's events but we would have more control. These would flag up on your NXE as a reminder. You can also view open events to join them.

NXE Favorites
- Favorites: An easy option to select various parts of the NXE system as a favorite for easy access into a Favorites channel.
- Xbox Button: Xbox button, taking a cue from the iPhone, can have a feature selected to it for a quick double tap. This can be to your gamer profile, friends list or just My Xbox. Would be a faster way to get directly where you want.
-XDock: A third party app for the iPhone added the Apple dock option the corner which had a lens flare. This can be used easily by the right control stick. Favorites would appear as a ring and you can select them that way.

NXE RSS
- Feed: RSS, Marketplace and News Updates can be added to the bottom of the dashboard. These would also include updates for games you do have. You can also view the feed in a separate section. Various options are available with keywords for games you own. So say you want to be updated when there is a new song for RockBand2 or Gears of War 2 getting a new map. It will tell you on your dashboard. Same for new videos and other things like optional Xbox news, world news and sports. RSS feeds can be added aswell.

NXE Video, Photo, Music Update
- Youtube & Flickr: Videos and Photos will also get networked and added support. You can link your Gamertag to your flickr images. Youtube will be added to your video section where you can browse through them like on the iPhone.
- Zune Marketplace: Finally connecting your Zune to your 360. You can share the music but also the entire music store and subscriber options, similar to how Netflix works.
- Party Jukebox: You can play music among your party. The music can be tagged for purchase.
- Dynamic View: Basically cover and grid view for photos, videos and music.

Every time I log in on console B, I have to again recover my profile on console A. An error pops up saying my membership is not valid and i am forced to recover my profile. Whats the deal? Is this support to happen. I cannot stand having to continually recover my profile. Thanks CAGs

That's what I've got. It'll always hold at least one game at a time, so it should work fine. At least for how I'm playing it, I usually just play one game at a time until I finish it.

It sounds like you should buy a memory card, move your profile to the card, and just move the card back and forth between those consoles as needed. Otherwise it's going to keep doing that. And out of curiosity, did you buy a separate 360 just to stream stuff off Netflix? And if so, why?

Keep in mind that you BOTH have to have Live Gold AND a Netflix sub. You can't share the video, you all have to have a subscription. So you may as well just do voice chat or talk on the phone while watching the movie.

It's always been like this, since the 360 came out. That's the entire reason they sold Memory cards, so you can easily carry your profile on it.

Think about it, if it were really easy to log into a gold account on multiple xbox's, you'd have a lot of people (especially cag's) sharing gold accounts to avoid subscriptions.

Your gamertag is specifically tied to a console unless it exists on a memory card. They allow you to recover your gamertag on other consoles, but they make it slow and painful so you won't want to do it all the time.

Depends on how you define "works." Sure you can install it, but it doubles your load times. I wouldn't call that working.

Sounds like server load or your internet connection. Try to redownload it again on off traffic times like in the middle of night or early in the morning. I grabbed the Halo Wars theme and didn't have any problem and I'm with a satellite ISP.

But if your optical drive is ailing, it's an acceptable trade-off. Jumping DVD reading can artificially increase load times, and Halo 3 did have some problems with disc read errors.

I wouldn't call troublesome DVD performance "working" either, unless you're lucky enough to have a SKU with a decent drive.
