no, this was march 2007, I dont think the elite was out back then. it was before the canadian dollar got a huge jump and the 360 was 400$ in the US and 500$ in canada. I think the elite came out at 550$?

I know price drops are inevitable but my timing just blew chunks. 16 months after release and it didnt drop a penny. then 16 months after that it drops 40% which is massive (and gets a few extra perks like hdmi).

16 months ago was march 2007, which was before the summer and it was definitely 500$ at the time. I think the first price drop was to 400$ which was more to get on par with the states because of canadian dollar doing so well.
