OK, I just played my Madden game in my other league and DAMN, it was absolutely seamless. As in, they ONLY difference between single player and online was that I had to wait a couple seconds for my opponent to pick their play.

Going into this afternoon's game between the Colts and the Vikings, all the attention was on the Vikings' all-world running back, Adrian Peterson, and with good reason, too. In his first year, the Oklahoma standout rushed for over 1,000 yards, 12 TDs and set the NFL's single game rushing record.

However, it was another back that stole the show as the spotlight shone brightly on his counterpart. Colts' RB Joseph Addai spoke softly during the week leading up to the game, but he let his game do the talking rushing for 176 yards and 4TDs Sunday afternoon, including two long TD runs. "The line did a great job of clearing lanes for me and Peyton got us into the right plays at the right time," said the Pro Bowl running back of the Colts.

"Well, we went into the game expecting to pass with the run-stuffing line the Vikings have," Peyton Manning added (9/10 passing, 129 yards, TD). "They started playing more dime though so I checked off to Addai and he did the rest."

Little attention was given to Addai, but that will surely not happen again with his breakout performance.

Not to be outdone, the Colts' defense--once highly critcized as the team's greatest weakness--picked off 3 Viking QBs 7 times, with 6 different players getting INTs. Two of those picks--DB Dante Hughes and LB Tyjuan Hagler--were taken back for TDs. They also did an outstanding job clogging up the running lanes for Adrian Peterson, holding the Vikings' running attack to 30 yards and a single TD.

"We did some good things today, but we have to make sure we carry it through next week. We had a disappointing outing last week so it was nice to get this one, especially on the road," Colts' coach Tony Dungy commented.

Next up for the Colts are division rivals the Jacksonville Jaguars in Lucas Oil Stadium.

For instance, Merrimen, Vince Young, three of Jacksonville's OL, Etc.. So are we going to do it for only those players that are out for the whole year? Personally, I'm cool with whatever especially with me being the Bills. =)

This is a tough call for me. The thing is, Brady is obviously a game changing player, but where do we draw the line in regards to reflecting real life rosters? I mean, if an O-lineman is out for a couple games, but Madden's roster isn't up to date, are we going to expect him to be benched for the purpose of our league as well? Say the Rams lose Orlando Pace...are we really going to force pelf21 to bench him? If not, like I said, where do we draw the line?

Having run a league in MLB 08: The Show, it makes me appreciate their dedication to updating the rosters weekly. Without it, I don't know what we'd do. It feels like it would be overly tedious to make sure every real life injury/suspension is upheld manually. As much as I'd rather not have to face him, I almost think if EA doesn't update the roster to remove Brady, you've gotta let him play.

Teams like Minnesota or Oakland, who rely heavily on their running game, would be dead in the water without their starting O-line. I think it's gotta be all or nothing. And I agree that if the QB's can't play, every player can't play. I vote for the "fuck realism" ballot and just play the game however EA has it. Injuries happen too often in the NFL, and there are too many players to keep every player off manually.

Every line plays about the same other than 2 or 3 teams. Pats, Colts, Bolts. So in my opinion it doesnt matter. Ummm. I think you are completely over estimating EA. This is EA they wouldnt do a single thing to help us ever. It takes them at least 5 months to update anything......ever.

The only reason...the only reason they will be quick to update this is because its Tom Brady (but EA quick not equal to actually being quick......) but anyone else they wouldnt bother.

Thats a little harsh but Matt Young you kinda deserve it. I dont know how people forget so easy when it comes to EA and their games. EA is most likely one of the worst companies in regards to updating and its EVERY YEAR almost EVERY GAME and yet people still believe that there is always some type of patch coming.

BF BC just now got a patch announced and it came out months ago (the patch is basically worthless because it doesnt actually fix anything but thats another story)

I remember in past maddens half the damn season would be over before they would release the 2nd (after training camp) roster. I will bet a 1000 bucks that this update wont come soon but if it does its solely beacuse of Tom Brady and no one else. Look man, the only reason I fired off on you is because you deemed it necessary to tell me and soodmeg that our "argument" was pointless (to me, that's being an asshole). Call it defending my right to free speech. Whether there would be updates and if those updates would be mandatory was never in question. That's almost common sense. It's not like we were even flaming each other...just discussing the likeliness of consistent roster updates from EA, and the effect that those updates (or lack of) would have on the league. I (Kansas City) won againt Black Sunrise (Atlanta) 28-21. Fucking wild game. Not to be rude, but it wouldn't have even been close if I knew how to properly use the Fair Catch button.;)

I was punted the ball a couple of times and Black was able to get right on top of my guy when he got it, so I got hammered without me pressing the Y button. The problem was, I thought the RB button was fair catch, so I got cooked. That gave him 2 touchdowns, and then for his third TD, he got a dumpoff pass to his HB just before I was sacking the QB, and he ran for about 60 or 70 yards due to some heavenly blocks.

I started off the game marching down the field, only to miss my FG. I then mixed in the deep ball with some good medium passes for first downs, and it was working great, with the occasional run that was stopped because my RB has a magnet in him that attracts large men that want to kill him. To end the first half, I got a monster deep pass, but couldn't get my guy out of bounds, so I wasted another TD.

I felt like some of the would-be interceptions really should've been interceptions, but sadly, Madden's purposely broken this way because we're not pros and we throw the ball to defenders too much. There was one time where my defender was literally waiting on the ball for 3-5 seconds without the receiver even touching him, and when he jumps up to get it, he bobbles it and drops it. Tough luck.

Fun game, but man was I getting pissed. You did a great job of exploiting my weaknesses (not being able to press Y for a fair catch) to keep the game close, but I got the winning touchdown drive at the end of the fourth quarter since my QB was spitting hot fire.

Yeah, that was a good game. Some vicious hits and some really big plays. I agree about the INT's, they still seem to come from nowhere and I hate the wide reciever catch animations. It still seems broken but not as bad as last year. And damn if I didnt get close to tying the game with my last little bomb and then I threw the end zone int which sealed the loss. Nice game, SJ41

In a manner of speaking, you did. It's just a bit of a slap in the face to people in this league (and Jagged's for that matter) who are struggling to go a single week without someone dropping out.

We understand, you think Madden is shit, you're "tired of it", or any of the other million and one excuses people give for dropping out and leaving 31 other players hanging. I'm sorry. I just think it's disrespectful, and therefore, I could care less about disrespecting you. Simple as that.

The game started off with Eli driving right down field on the bad cinci D, when Eli reverted to his old self and threw a costly pick to Jonathan Joesph for a 96 yard pick 6. Eli regained his composure and lead another drive down the field before being sacked and fumbling, Corey Mays calmly picked up the ball and ran it back for a 76 yard TD, Making the score 14-0. Giants make it 14-3 at half with a field goal.

The 2nd half started off with the Bengals driving the ball to the NY 37 and deciding to take a delay of game penalty and punt the ball, on the ensuing punt RW McQuarters fumbled the ball on a bone crushing hit from Simeon Castille and Cincinati recovered the ball on the NY 5 yard line. Cinci then punched the ball in to make it 21-3 on the next play. Then the Giants showed life as the Bengals playing nothing, but deep Dollar defense let the Giants score twice to make it 21-18 with 33 seconds left.

The G-Men had 1 chance at a onside kick, but failed letting the Bengals improve to 1-1 on the season.

Tough loss for the Gmen. They were in the redzone 5 times, completely dominated the offensive side of the ball and came away with a loss b/c of two key turnovers returned for tds in the first two drives of the game.

1st td the Bengals corner...who isn't even good mind you. makes an unbelievable cut on a comeback pass intended for Plax. The timing couldn't have been any better by Eli and this is the second time I fall victim to SStylers' sniping defensive backs. I couldnt have timed the pass any better. Also, the play before the TD, Eli throws a fade to Plax who catches it but he couldn't get two feet in...
Bengals up 7-0
Giants get the ball back and are again in the redzone. Eli goes back for the pass, gets sack and fumbles the ball and the Bengals get yet another TD off the turnover.
Bengals up 14-0
Giants get the ball again and drive into the redzone. Lose a TD on 3rd down to a wide open Kevin Boss who somehow...i am not really sure who drops the ball. The announcer said that the Bengals got a hand on the ball but there was no one near him...so again the bad luck continues

Bengals get ball and can do nothing on offense and turn it over on 4th down. I drive down the field get to about his 30-35, thinking I still have one timeout left but I don't and I don't spike the ball although I think I would have had enough time to do so and lose a shot at the field goal.
Bengals get the ball at the kickoff and again do nothing. They punt...McQuarters fields and fumbles the ball at the 5 and again the Bengals score a defensive touchdown. I probably should have let the ball bounce but it looked like the defense was far enough away where I could make a big play.

At this point I want to give up and offer the friendly quit but I felt like I had a chance b/c he couldn't stop my offense all game....if I could avoid crucial turnovers I could make a game of it still.
I get the ball back. Get to the redzone and score making it 21-10. I score in workmanlike fashion driving down the field after the kickoff.
Bengals get the ball and do nothing on offense and I get the ball back with about 2 minutes left. At this point I know I am going to have to kick an onside kick if I do score...but heck stranger things have happened...if my opponent can get three defensive tds why can't I recover an onside kick?!
I get the ball back and score making it 21-16 with about 40 seconds left in the game and one timeout.
I go for two and make it 21-18. I am now in field goal range.

I go for the kick but don't recover and that's all she wrote.

I meant that i was letting you take time off the clock instead of you making big plays like the rest of the game. I completly agree you should've won the game as I stated the toal yards and said you drove down the field multiple times. I wasn't trying to skew the game in my favor sorry if you thought that. Good game n8rockerasu. I broke a big running play up the gut for a TD and got lucky on a few WR screens, other than that it was close.

OT: I'm glad you didnt get some calls like Denver got in the Chargers game today. That was a crazy game. I'm a huge Panthers fan and I'm glad they took care of the Chargers last week and the Bears today. Huge wins without Steve Smith.

Week 3 game: Saints 20 - Broncos 13

I was just overmatched in this game. I felt like I was doing everything I possibly could just to keep the damn Broncos in it. Wanderlai was playing basically a perfect game, until I FINALLY forced him to make a mistake late in the 3rd quarter, when he threw a pick in his own end of the field. I turned that into my only TD of the contest, capping 10 unanswered points on my part, and tying the game 13 all.

Then my defense just started giving up yards again. NO's blocking is just too much to deal with. Bush and McAllister were running all over me, and Wanderlai was even running wideout screens for 20 yards due to the insane blocking. I thought I played decent, I just couldn't freakin stop him. Good game Wanderlai. You know the game well.

Edit: Also, there was one play at the end of the game where I thought I had you. When I kept running up the middle for 8-10 yards at a time, and was juuuuuust waiting for you to get aggressive. Then finally, I took a chance and called for a RB screen. You blitzed, and Young was WIDE OPEN. But somebody had to get a freakin hand up and knock the pass down.

I'm pretty sure that would have tied the game cause he had room to run. I was really considering going for the 2 if I had scored too (didn't even know about the SD/DEN game at that point). I just figured I had trouble stopping you, so it would have been do or die anyway.

Jackson is a beast, Bulger is pretty damn accurate, and Torry Holt isn't quite as injury prone in a video game, haha. They've also got a reasonably quick defense. They might not be The Greatest Show on Turf anymore (I miss Marshall :-(), but they can still do some things.

Yeah the early turnovers helped me have a strong ground game for pretty much the entire game. Garrard was solid passing and I was able to control the ball for the most part. Good game man.

In fact I dont blame anyone who drops out of the league. This game is pure fucking trash and I understand how you can just be fed up with it and want to trade it in.

Now I wont....at least until after this league. I might not play a 2nd season with you guys but I am at least going to finish this one. But god damn, this game sucks on so many levels. Every time I put this game in I hate it a little more there are so many problems with it.

On 3rd down cats are running through my defense like cheddar. Which would be fine but it has nothing to do with play calling or personal, I am watching my linemen just simply move out of the way. I am watching my DB just stand around looking at WR.

This is my first madden since 05 and the same shit that was wrong in that game is still wrong in this one.

Bottom line is this. I am sorry for anything I said to the people who have dropped out. Oct is such a huge month of actually GOOD games I can see why you would want to trade in this shitty one. I just cant wait to NBA 2k9 and Fifa 09 you know games that actually play like the real life counter parts.

All I am saying is that I understand and cant be mad at anyone who just trades this game in.

I am going to wait to the league is over and that pretty much only because I have a lot of extra money this month so I can still get all the games I want.

I wouldnt just ditch the league.....but I completely understand. To many good games coming out that are actually good and fixed their problems to be wasting time with bullshit 09.

I will say this though. Its only week 2 in real life and week 3 and our league and we are having a shit ton of problems. Unless we make some type of change I cant see this going the entire 16 weeks. Thats just my opinion though.

In fact I dont blame anyone who drops out of the league. This game is pure fucking trash and I understand how you can just be fed up with it and want to trade it in.

On 3rd down cats are running through my defense like cheddar. Which would be fine but it has nothing to do with play calling or personal, I am watching my linemen just simply move out of the way. I am watching my DB just stand around looking at WR.

This is my first madden since 05 and the same shit that was wrong in that game is still wrong in this one.

Yeah, except for EA being too lazy to include FCS schools (especially one that has won 3 straight championships and pulled off the biggest upset in the history of college football) in its "next gen" game 3 years in a row, NCAA is much more realistic...not to mention its own problem with missed tackles :roll:

Azu- I had the same problem I had with you, but with ItlnStln this time. You 2 are the only ones I have had problems connecting with, but regardless, the problem is likely on my end. I cannot change the NAT from moderate to open.

I was on the phone with Verizon for 2 hours and the problem could not be resolved. Their internet service is far superior to the Time Warner cable I had before in most respects, but this issue is pissing me off. I apologize to all users for the delay.

Theme of the game was ball control for the Bills. Lynch was able to churn for 98 yards and a touchdown through the St. Louis line thus keeping the potent Rams offense on the sidelines. The Bill's secondary was torched twice by Bulger with WR Donnie Avery hauling in two touchdown passes for a total of 120 receiving yards on the day.

good game pope. It started out with 5 touchdowns in the first half and had 2 field in the second half. Dallas drove it down within the 10 with 20 seconds left before the eagles got lucky with a pick to end the game.

Kinda've a defensive game throughout. It took me awhile to see what the Giants were doing so well, but I figured it out too late and couldn't get the last drive going. =p

It was a defensive struggle throughout. The GMEN did not want to turn the ball over to give the Seahawks a chance and they did so by ending the game +3 on turnovers.

Seahawks get the ball and the captain on the GMEN, Antonio Pierce, Intercepts a ball in the middle of the field and takes it home for about a 15 yard scamper. GMEN 7 Seahawks 0

Seahawks get a field goal in the 1st quarter and make it 7-3.

Giants get the ball back after a punt via another Hasselback interception in the first half. Giants drive down the short field and Manning hits Toomer on a Fly pattern to the back of the endzone for 7.

Its 14-3 going into the half with the Giants getting the ball at kickoff. GMEN drive down the field into Seahawk territory and at about the 29 yard line Eli throws a bad pass to the flat which gets returned for a TD making it 14-10.

G-MEN get the ball and drive down to the Seahawk 24 yard line where they are stopped just short of a first down on a third down pass to Kevin Boss. Giants elect to go for the Field Goal and make a 41 yarder making it 17-10. Its Seahawk ball with a little under 3 minutes to go. Seahawks mount a drive that gets stunted at the giant 19 yard line after two straight 4th down passes are stopped by the Giant defensive backs.

Offensive stats were not great in this game but the gmen did outgain the Seahawks. The GMEN played the game very tight as we were confident that they couldn't score against us. I barely blitzed and sent as many guys into coverage which led to four ints. The game was really played close to the vest by the GMEN and their normally high flying offense took a back seat to the Giants stifling D.

MVP of the game was Antonio Pierce with two interceptions, one which was returned for a touchdown, 7 tackles and two tackles for loss.

The last play I called was actually a WR screen, but I put a guy in motion and noticed you were playing zone. Your CB pressed my WR on the weak side, so I thought he'd be one v one with the safety... then 3 DBs drop back on him. Doh. Maybe I should've went with the designed play.

Tought game for Arizona as Buffalo sacked and pressured Warner all game long. Another tough break is when Edwards threw an interception but the cornerback fumbled the ball which led to a buffalo fieldgoal. Marshwan Lynch is player of the game as he shredded the front seven of the Cardinals

Defense was key in the first half for the Bills, limiting the high octane offense of the Cards to 2 yards passing and 32 yards rushing. The Bills were led to a 13 point lead behind RB Marshawn Lynch's 83 yards and a TD on 14 carries. The Cardinals lone score came on a 67 yard TD from QB Warner to his favorite target WR Anquan Boldin. Perhaps the turning point of the game came in the third quarter. With the Bills up 13-0 Edwards threw a costly pick that was meant for Robert Royal instead landed into the hands of Adrian Wilson. Wilson tried to run it back and ironically enough, Royal landed a punishing tackle that forced the ball loose and gave the Bills the ball back. They went on to score a TD and led by three scores.

Opening drive Dallas goes 3 and out. McBriar punts it off and Pacman Jones forces a fumble but is too rusty to remember to get up and scoop the ball up. Later in the 2nd Newman makes a huge momentum shifter interception. Then much later with with Cincy @ the Dallas 30 leading 3-0 Demarcus Ware comes up the left side and rattles up the play action pass to force palmer to throw an INT to Zach Thomas. The Dallas defense did their job all day but not for Pacman as my dumb ass called for a fair catch at the 4 yard line and the next play boom Safety. Next time I'll remember not to play leagues when I'm high, I make stupid descisions. lol GG Styler very fun matchup.

"Bring back the fucking dome," Colts' safety Bob Sanders shouted in the locker room. "I don't give a shit if the roof is gone and the seats are in the dumpster. Tell the fans to bring lawn chairs and have them spray paint lines on the concrete. This place is cursed."

Sanders made a miraculous come back, despite having been on the injury list. Fans caught sight of him, in all places, the special teams. Chalk that up to another screw up by an inept Colts team.

Though the team makes it a point to reiterate the mantra, "No Excuses," a startling absence of a few key presences on the sideline could prove to be an admission of guilt by the club to their inability to stop the run. Though the Jags were held for under 100 yards, their backs chewed clock and converted countless third-downs that kept the drive and the Colts' offense off the field. The missing personnel you ask? Colts' coach Tony Dungy and GM Bill Polian.

Polian was missing the entire game, while Dungy inexplicably disappeared at half time. Sources informed us that Dungy was spotted at a local Denny's while Polian was seen prowling the floor of an IHOP. Both were looking for fat asses to plug into the under-sized defensive line.
