I am down with replaying a game if someone wants to, but it was just 2 games. I would prefer to move forward with unplayed games and not worry about replaying ones.

I didn't get into the league right away, thats my bad. The league needs to move on and I am just happy to be playing in one.

I have pretty much stopped playing random people due to cheaters, so this will keep my Madden fix going. :D

I've been really lucky.
I had crappy times in 07 (which led to me just not playing online against strangers on XBL in 08) but 09 has been GREAT to me.
4 games, all very close, well fought battles. I've won 4 of em :)

I have had three people run the WR direct snap exploit on me for an entire game. One I played out and two I just ended up quitting because it is pointless to even play those people.

I also have had people using the QB passing past the line of scrimmage glitch, but at least they dont use it every play.

Outside of cheating, I have had peeps that just don't know how to play a game of football. Going for it on 4th and 10 in the first quarter in their own terrority. It's annoying, I prefer not to play those people, but compared to the blatent cheaters, I guess I can live with it now.

I just have too much I would rather be doing and when I get an hour or so to play some games, I would much rather play a game of football than someone that is just interested in cheating to win.

Also, it annoys me that EA has just turned a blind eye to the entire thing thus far. Not only that, but on their own message boards, they protect anyone from being called out on it, saying it is a personal attack. So if they cheat, I can't even tell the people on that board not to play that person if they don't want to play a cheater, because then I get banned. I can see where they are coming from on it, but it just adds to the frustration level on my part when it happens.

As far as replaying games I think the league should be more concerned with going forward and getting games that haven't been played then re playing week 1 and 2 games. All efforts should be made to finish the league. Also, when are we starting week 6? I played my games through week five and I think we should try move things along.

But this clearly isnt working its just puttering along at a snails pace waiting to die. For the record, I think having the full NFL schedule posted is a good idea. BUT, I'd do it like Jagged was doing and have each week inside a spoiler tag so it doesn't dominate the thread. At least this would give people a place to look if they want to play ahead. The only problem would be if people play ahead, and then someone drops and the new person wants to "replay" those games.

Personally, I think replaying games is a bad idea. I understand nobody wants a losing team, but I inherited Denver with an 0-2 record I believe, but to replay weeks 1 and 2 would be unfair to the people who earned those wins. They shouldn't have to play through their season twice. Anyway, that's my two cents...or well, nickel, haha.

As for what you mentioned in the other thread Azu (and what ivanctorres suggested as well), I'd be down for organizing/running a small 10-15 man league. I posted an idea for it in the Madden 2 RIP thread, so I won't double post. But check it out and let me know what you guys think. Later homies! 8-)

I have been in both threads since I joined both leagues posting non stop. I missed 1 game with you because of the same conflict kept me out for an entire week. But other than the one time with you I have been in this bitch since the get go trying to get games going and making it more interesting as I was the first to suggest we write recaps to get others involved. I was also the one that said 2 months ago that a 32 man league might not work and we should drop it down to 10-15 people.

Bills 21 vs Seahawks 13

Very close game, which came down to the final seconds of the game. The Seahwaks were stopped short at the 8 yd line in the Red Zone to preserve the Bills lead. The Seahawks started off strong, dominating the possession in the first quarter for 4 mins and 20 seconds. Luckily the Bills were able to limit the damage to a Field Goal. The Bills were led to their victory by Trent Edwards and his 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. RB Marshawn Lynch was shut down by the stifling defense of the Seahawks.

He then began to force passes a little and i was able to pick a pass and get a field goal to make it 10-7. Then he tried to scramble and dive but he fumbled which i converted into another fg. Then with barly any time he tried to force a ball deep that was returned for a td to make it 20-7.

But if he wouldve just took the points a couple times he wouldve been in to good shape for me to come back.

Giants @ Browns Giants 13-Browns 10 in Overtime
What a great game and kudos to UMX for a well played game.
This was a defensive struggle going into the 4th quarter with the GMen leading 3-0 but sputtering on offense despite a ridiculous edge in time of possession. The game going into the 4th is all about turnovers.
In the 4th UMX does finally tie the game with a field goal. The Giants get the ball back with 2 minutes to play and throw an INT that gets returned to the house for 7 and the Brownies take the lead 10-3 in the 4th quarter. Giants get the ball back again and have to go for it on 4th an 4 and don't make the first down by inches. UMX gets the ball back with 40 seconds with the Giants full assortment of timeouts. UMX runs three plays, Giants use all three timeouts and Giants get the ball back at the 12 with no Timeouts. First Play is a Fly Pattern to Burress that is defended. Next, play with time winding down is a fly pattern to Toomer that hits and Toomer scores on an 88yard touchdown with zeros left on the clock to put the giants within a PAT of tying the game!!!!! What a play!!!!!

Giants make PAT and into overtime we go at Brownie Stadium. Browns are reeling at this point but do win the coin toss. Brownies mount a small drive and get the Giant 45 yard line before they have to put on 4th and 7. Giants get the ball at the 20 and mount a drive on the shoulders of the O-line, Jacobs and Ward and get all the way to the Browns 12 yard line! Giants are poised to steal the game.
1st and ten on the 12 and the GMEN decide to go for the short field goal and make it !!! Giants win Giants win!

I finally got to play a game in this league! Just a note for Azu- I had the same problem with awwjayzin/shinryu as I did with you and ItlnStln, not being able to connect for a game or even a chat. I'm not sure if the problem was on my end or his, because he changed some stuff as well.

But it's worth noting that, while I can't change my NAT settings, I did discover some firewall settings that were on. I turned them off, and we could connect. Wanna try a private chat later and see if we can?

As for the game, Jason dominated me. I threw 3picks in the first half (4 total) but I was fortunate enough to hold him to FGs. Then after I busted out a long Ryan Grant TD run at the start of the 2nd half, he fired right back with a long TD pass, making it 16-7.

After a late passing TD made it 16-14 Seattle, I fucked up the onside kick. But, as luck would have it, I forced a fumble when Matt Hasselbeck tried to hand off a rain soaked ball. I managed to get a field goal as time expired, and I pulled out a dramatic win that I really didn't deserve. The better man did not win... but I'll take it.

This pretty much observes the issue with NAT settings. Just look at the chart if you don't feel like reading. Before, when we had trouble connecting, it's because the 360 was in my room connected through my iMac. From there, it gets a moderate NAT connection. When I move it to the other room, it's directly connected to the router so it's open. Iunno if that helps.

Very well played and thank you fro being available to play. I was really looking forward to this game. Yeah 4 & 7 in the 1st was pretty cheesy but I wonder if I had made it or not I forgot. 1 half was all yours, I was a bit disappointed that it always snows in GB and was a bit scared that this might be a fumble fest but our guys did well with holding on to the ball. I'm glad we stepped up and dominated the 2nd half. In the last 2 games Dallas have outscored their opponent 53-10. Who's next?

I played the Carolina Panthers (gregthomas) and won, 24-14. My tight end was clutch and Dellhome had a few interceptions at bad times that helped my win.

I couldn't stop the run worth a shit for an entire drive, even though I tried lots of different defenses. Anyways, fun game.

Kudos to AZU for a well played game. This one was close up until the last play when Jacobs does a 25 yard scamper into the end zone to win the game in OT. Bah who needs a field goal!

The story of this game is probably turnovers. Arguably, AZU did a great job of staying in the game even after having 5 turnovers! Giants really failed to capitalize on the turnovers twice throwing INTs in the redzone and twice taking themselves out of field goal range because of Viking sacks. I feel lucky to win the game because I just had so many chances and didnt capitalize. Usually when that happens you lose the game but I won.

1st Quarter Vikings win the toss and elect to receive. Vikings go 3 and out and the Giants proceed to march down the field helped out by a deep fly pattern to Burress and a short Jacobs TD run to make it 7-0.
Vikings mount a drive and march right back highlighted by a 21 yard pass to Shiancoe and lots of AP.

The game remains scoreless until the 4th quarter when the Giants take the lead on a long drive capped off by another Jacobs short TD run. Vikings answer right back and tie the game with about a minute left to go in the fourth quarter.

Giants are determined to score and actually hit Smith across the middle of the field for a 28 yard pass into Vikings Territory. Giants get as close as the 26 but get sacked on 2 of the next 3 plays to take them completely out of field goal range. A last minute bomb is dropped by Burress, which he has been doing a lot of lately and the game heads in OT.

Vikings win the TOSS but turn the ball over at around midfield on the Giants 5th INT of the game.
At this point, I am not going to make the same mistake and get sacked and take myself out of field goal range. I run left with Jacobs on a counter play, break a beastly tackle by Jared Allen and get 14 yards to put myself at the 25 yard line and in field goal range!. I know I am not passing until I go for the field goal at this point. I run an off tackle straight up the gut and Jacobs runs it right down the middle of the field for a 25 yard scamper and his third touchdown of the game...only one short of Al Bundy's High School record! Jacobs did a great job on the final drive breaking at least 4 tackles to secure victory for the GMEN!

RECAP COWBOYS 9 GIANTS 19 (Giants win and go to 6-2)

The story of this game is the GIANT D and very efficient passing by Eli Manning. This was a well played game throughout and kudos to popegomoth. Cya in Dallas for the rematch.

1st quarter-Giants win the toss and elect to receive. 2nd or 3rd play of the game is a short screen pass to Ahmad Bradshaw which he fumbles!!! Its a fumble. Cowboys recover but the Giants are able to hold Dallas to a Field Goal and limit the damage.

Giants get the ball and mount a 6 or 7 play 80 yard drive on the arm of Eli Manning. Cowboys were intent on stopping the run so the Giants audibled out of running plays and threw it in the air with Plaxico serving as Eli's main target.

Now we are still in the first half and this is where the fun starts as the Cowboys turn the ball over 3 times before the half. Giants score another TD before the half on a long drive. A Short pass to Plaxico caps the drive and Plaxico would end with two TDS on the day. Cowboys get the ball back and Justin Tuck sacks Romo for a safety! Giants go up 16-3 before the half

Cowboys again get the ball after the kickoff and throw another INT just before the half which gives the Giants 1 second on the clock to kick a Field Goal to make it 19-3 at the half.

Second Half-The Cowboys get the ball to begin the half and proceed to mount a long drive which takes the entire Third Quarter. Cowboys have fourth and goal and have to go for it because they are down 16 points. Cowboys go for it and the ball is defended and the Giants get the ball back and begin to run the ball down the Cowboys throat and continue to take time off the clock. Giants get the ball to about the Cowboys 45 yard line before they are stopped and have to kick it away. Giants punt and are able to pin the Cowboys at the 2 yard line.

This however does not stop the boys as they mount a long drive and score, go for 2, but miss the 2 point conversion! Giants now up 19-9 so the game is pretty much over at this point. Cowboys do go for onside kick and make it but that is too little to late and Giants win 19-9.

We had to do two games. I d/c'd in the 2nd Q because the power went out in my house when a hairdryer was plugged in. Cowboys up 7-0 in the 1st game, we agreed to end it after the 3rd in the our 2nd game.

2nd game, Cowboys force some TOs via sacks. Seahawks couldn't run the ball, so they aired it out to Engram and Branch. Branch ended up with 100+ rec. yards and 2 TDs. However, the Seahawks couldn't stop Witten, Barber, or Owens. "Tied" at 24-24 (+7, Cowboys win) after the 3rd. We continued the game anyways since it was fun. Cowboys pull a late drive. On 2nd down and what, 8?, Romo looks to pass and gets sacked all the way to SEA 48. 3rd and like, 28, Cowboys make a nice pass back to SEA's 34 yd line. 51 yd kick.. good! Game over. I would've had a couple of seconds on the clock if I had all my timeouts, but I used them in the 3rd to "complete" the game. Oh well, I doubt I could've hail mary'd it. GG.. both games, lol.

Wow...I just took a beating from X The Rock 88 X. After starting the game with a good kick return + a facemask penalty, I thought I was in for a good day. Got the ball down to his 41, but on a 4th and 1, I decided to "play right" and didn't QB sneak. I KNEW I should have...that's just how I would have played it, even that early.

Instead, I punted, and that was practically the best field position I had all game. Denver sucks. I hate Jay Cutler. I'd like to punch him in his 12 year-old looking face. Not to say that The Rock didn't play well. He really did. His DB's were all over my shit, and I couldn't do anything. It's just pathetic that I play better with St. Louis than I do with Denver (or even Buffalo for that matter). Losing sucks.

Just played Azumangaman now that I have my NAT settings fixed. He was up 14-7, but after that, lay luck slapped him in the face. He outplayed me on offense and doubled my offensive yardage, but the 7 interceptions, several returned for TDs, did him in.

He was a very good sport about it, though, and is easily one of the funniest guys I've talked to from CAG. Had me laughing the whole time, and didn't bitch about his misfortunes. He'll probably get karmic retribution when we play our week 1 game and kick my ass.

In the meantime, Jared Allen can give him his own special kind of sack. ;)

All right, I'm finally making some progress...er, well getting games played anyway.

First I got blasted by Buffalo. Good game to pHi ||. The game was nowhere near as close as the score. I think pHi had 3 times as much total yardage as I did. I couldn't stop Marshawn Lynch to save my life. He's fast and big, and averaged like 9 freaking yards per carry. Dude MOVED my whole line.

I was down 14-0 until a pick 6 gave me some life. My only other "good play" was a big 60+ yd TD pass...which was slightly devalued by the fact that it followed a 60+ yd TD pass from pHi. I hate playing in the fucking snow all the time! I play better on the road...which segués nicely into my next game.

Denver 14 at Carolina 3

I won the coin toss and elected to kick off...which ALMOST became a huge mistake. gregthomas mounted an incredible opening drive that lasted the whole 1st quarter and 1:13 into the 2nd! Amazingly, I held him to a field goal, and got the ball for the first time with 3:47 remaining in the half. Fortunately, the weather in Charlotte was sunny, and so was Jay "don't call me babyface!" Cutler's disposition. I did a pretty good job reading blitzes, and threw to my hot read when I needed to. The drive was capped by a nice throw and a freaking rumble by Brandon Marshall, as he broke at least 3 tackles and bounded into the endzone for 6.

After that, I seemed to have Carolina's gameplan pretty well figured out, and threw a bunch of different defensive packages at them. I added another TD in the 3rd quarter to go up 14-3. Upon getting the ball back with 3 minutes left in the game, I started pounding the ball with Selvin Young and picked up some big 1st downs while draining the clock. I got the ball all the way down to the 9 yard line as time was running out.

I was going to kick a fieldgoal as time expired just to have something to show for the final drive, but gregthomas jumped offside (to prevent me from scoring I presume), and I just took the penalty to end the game.

Greg, I hope you didn't think I was trying to run the score up man, because I really just thought that last drive deserved something. I could have ran a hurry up and went for a TD, but I didn't. I thought it was a little lame that you forced the penalty and then didn't say "gg" or anything afterward, but I'm not going to dwell on it. It is what it is. Good game none the less. It's nice to finally win one.

gg, thanks for the compliments. I actually usually have more success with the screen but it seemed like Tatupu had it read every time (he's a smart fella'). I made some quick reads on a play or two where you blitzed heavy and I had man coverage on my receivers that resulted in big plays. I was also quite relieved that Holt's fumble got overturned due to a facemasking penalty.

Yeah, some random facemasking that the CPU AI decided to kill me with. That Holt one and the SJax one in your last drive (3rd down) where I decided to try and stop your offense rather than kick the onside kick.

The Holt TD, I did blitz, but it was to your weak side meaning I should've had two defenders on Holt. Actually, I did have two defenders, you just made a great catch and Holt outran those two guys. On the second long TD pass, that was just a cover 2 and was it Avery that hauled it in? Yeah, I don't know how that happened.

Avery did have the second one. I saw the FS come blitzing and just tossed it to him hoping for the best. Your corners seemed to be playing close to my receivers and jumping their underneath routes. Trufant had a pick on a slant like that. After that I started going over the top more.

Sadly, the way things are going, I'm not sure if there are going to be more than 12 (if that) people left by Nov.1st.
I'm thinking we can do a couple things then:
1) Madden NFL 09 Online league where we all play each other once
2)A random tourney thingy
If this happens (which there is like a 90%+ possibility of such a thing happening) I'm going to let everybody repick teams if they want (because some people got screwed with the Seahawks,Rams,etc.)

***-If its an odd number of people left (I'm not sure if that can happen) I'll recruit somebody (probably somebody from n8's league) to rock out in tournament fashion.

After thinking some more, I think the tournament could be a really cool thing.

This is a tough call. I don't know if I'll be getting Madden 10, but I hope this shows us next year not to even bother with trying to do a real league because, sadly, even on CAG, most people aren't worth the time and effort. To put things in perspective, here's how this league breaks down:

7+ games: ||||||||
6 games: |
5 games: ||
4 games: ||||||||
3- games: |||||||||||||

Obviously, the people with 3 games or less are SEVERELY slacking and I honestly wonder why the hell they even signed up. HOWEVER, people in the 4-6 range are doing ok. They've still got some catching up to do, but unless they've just grown tired of the game, you'd think they would want to continue.

There are 19 teams that have played at least 4 games (9 AFC, 10 NFC..so pretty even). I would hope you could get 12-16 guys out of that who are interested in doing a tournament. I wouldn't change teams either. If we get to All Saints Day and still have a ton of dead weight, just make the 12-16 remaining teams the "playoffs" and set up the tournament to find our Super Bowl champion.

I was going to suggest using records as a way to select "seeding", but since everybody probably won't have the same number of games played, it wouldn't really work. But even a random matchup system would be fine. I think we just need something to get rid of the pretenders. As we've all witnessed, even cutting the number of teams in half wasn't good enough to avoid flakes in my league.

Honestly, I'm really amazed that I've been able to keep a 12 team, 16 week baseball league (that didn't start until after the all-star break) going, but Madden...the "god" of sports video games can't hold people's interests. It almost makes me question the maturity of 360 users vs. PS3 users. This is just my two cents...or buck two five. I'm down with whatever you think is best Azu.

I could up the ante by adding 1000 MS pts (50 pt codes, haha), hopefully gathering more interest from CAGs.

Yo, I have been trying to get my games in but I will have to say this Nov 1st I am gone and really wont be able to play that often for the first part of the month.

I have to work for 13 straight days from morning to night (got a kick ass freelance gig pays 3 grand for 13 days of work!) so I will be to tired to play. I am pretty sure the only days I have off is Mondays.


You guys know my theory. Madden has always been a game that is pretty hard to get a league going in. People loose interest in madden really easily. In my opinion its because the game has been made so poorly for the last 8 years people have stopped caring. Yeah they might buy the game and play it a couple but after 2 months and a slew of new games come out madden is the first one on the shelf.


We shall see if the NBA 2k9 CAG league proves my theory right.

Bills vs. Jets was a very good match.

Defense was the key for the Buffalo Bills. They sacked Brett 2 times and forced 4 ints and 1 FF which was taken back for a score.
Early in the game Marshawn Lynch broke off a 46 yd TD in 3 minutes into the first quarter. Later in the game Lynch scored a 56 yd Td. With the Bills having a lead for most of the game, the Jets had to throw alot more thus resulting in the 4 Ints.

Jets are 0-9 now. This was a hell of a game. Time expired as Thomas Jones was tackled at the 1 yd line. I had no timeouts and I was mashing X to spike the ball, but that wouldn't work, so I pushed Y instead to run the same play. Now I learn B is to spike it. Shit.

This was the best game I've played this year yet. I don't mean as far as me playing well, but as far as the fun factor. I'm finally getting better with the Jets, so I'm hoping 7-9 isn't just a dream. ;)

Week 9 Recap--

This was a close game throughout and came down to the final seconds. The Jets D shut down Marshawn Lynch the whole game with 8 man fronts and limited him to 14 yards rushing, so Trent Edwards had to step up and he threw for 2 Tds and 152 Yds. The Bills D came through with 3 Ints and 5 sacks on Qb Brett Favre. On the very last possession of the game, Favre was able to lead the New York Jets into Buffalo territory. Lining up at the 8 yard line, the Jets had 20 seconds left and no timeouts left to punch it into the endzone. Thomas Jones had been shredding the Buffalo Run D the whole day, so Favre handed off to Jones and he ran left. Jones got to the 4 yard line and was stopped by a shoestring tackle made by MLB Paul Posluzny. With 15 seconds left on the clock, Favre quickly called a no huddle and ran the exact play with Jones reaching the 2 yard line as time expired.


Good game Harry, your record does not reflect you abilities. I was impressed with the way you changed your gameplan for our rematch.

Good game to Ultimate Matt X! I jumped out to an early start, when ironically, after a 3 and out, I pinned Matt inside his own 10, and then got a safety. I then got pretty good field position off the free kick, and marched down the field for what would be my final score of the day to make it 9-0...which is how the 1st quarter ended.

Matt then completely figured my offensive attack out, and I just tried to hold on. He scored in the 2nd quarter to make it 9-7, and we spent the rest of the game punting and throwing interceptions...oh, and making fun of Madden for its ridiculousness.

Honestly, there probably should have been a few more scores in the game (on both sides), but guys were dropping passes like the football had gonorrhea. And there wasn't even any bad weather or anything. Oh well, chalk it up to a "defensive struggle" I guess. Good game Matt! You're a cool guy to talk to.

Bears 47 Vikings 9. Good game Azu.

Story once again was the Bears defense that boasted a whopping 9 TFL including 6 sacks with 5 INT also holding AP to only 54 yards rushing. Kyle Orton throws for 357 and 5 TDs.

Also noted that I injured damn near everyone on his team. AP went down for a while, as well as Taylor even though he got be back by taking Forte out of the game early.

What happened to Jackson though? Did you just bench him?

Jets are 1-9 now. I finally got my first win in this league. Both Jets TDs came on long plays, one on a run by Thomas Jones for 71 yds. Broncos' TD came on a fumble return after Favre coughed it up. Jets made a tremendous goal line stand late in the game. I think every home game I've had has been in the snow. It's getting old.

Denver 10 at NY Jets 14

Good game to pitfallharry. I think I have the dubious distinction of being your first win with the Jets right? Ahh...that just disgusts me on all kinds of levels. Nothing against you man. You played a good game. I just got too fucking cute with my playcalling. That's my main problem with this game. I play it like I pitch in baseball...trying to outsmart you, outsmarting me, outsmarting you...and it just fucks me up royally. Prime example, early in the game, I had a 2nd and 1 inside your 20, and instead of just pounding the ball (which I figured you'd expect), I call a play action. You blitz. I try to throw a lob to the back of the endzone, and it gets picked off.

Although, trying to pound the ball didn't work at the end of the game either. That's what I get for not QB sneaking. This is something I wholeheartedly blame on Madden. It's pathetic that you're almost guaranteed 3 yards by QB sneaking (if you don't fumble), but a FB can't seem to bust through the line. There's no such thing as a line surge in this game. I did feel a little cheated on that one. Totally not your fault though. I'm just really frustrated that I had the ball for over 12 minutes, and could only muster 10 points.

Plus, as always, my loser defense can't tackle in the snow. It seriously felt like if I didn't make EVERY tackle manually, they weren't getting made. Thank God I don't suck this bad at NHL 09. I think I'm going to start giving that game more of my attention.

He is 1-9....i'm just saying maybe next season or a new league for CAG maybe the team with the worst record gets 1st dibs on choosing a team. Ya know since we dont have a draft here might as well use that system to select teams for next year or a new league when this ones over.

But. It posses huge problems in people loosing games on purpose so they can get a better team next year. Also you would still have to some how reward the people winning for......winning.

It would just be unfair if lets say, The Phillys owner wins the superbowl but then gets the Eagles taken away by a 1-16 team.


But I like the idea...that is if we ever even get this league done and start another one.
