This game allows Flex scheduling, which means you can play games whenever. There is no week by week match ups. Ultimate Matt, if you want to take the Bills I don't have a problem being the Rams. Just trying to make this league full quick.

In a league where we'd be allowed to trade, the patriots would have more trade bait. The 49ers on the other hand, well let's just say I don't think anyone is going to be looking for the best punter in the league to trade. Now I wouldn't mind playing in a league like this, but I think it would be more fair to everyone else if we leveled the playing ground held a live draft, just to even the playing field for teams like the 49ers(I also think drafts are pretty exciting). And if we do trade, I think the league should have a vote on whether or not the trade goes through because I don't want some jackass that decides to drop out and passes all his good players onto his buddy or just if its a bad trade overall, i.e. WR Randy Moss for P Andy Lee.

Now if we do play with the teams actual rosters, I propose no trades because that would be unfair for the same reasons above.

The Pats back-ups aren't 90(most of their starters are) but neither are most of the Niners' starters, and there lies the advantage. The pats have an advantage in the skills and quality of their players as well as the ability to trade for other high quality players. (i.e. Niners trade frank gore(94) for wes welker(94)...niners are left with Foster, pats are left with randy moss)
Basically, Its a given that certain teams are better than others in this game, it has to be that way to be realistic, but the player's skills come into play too. I know that someone using the 49ers can beat someone using the patriots..however switch the teams around and the guy using the patriots would destroy the guy using the niners. So what it comes down to is the only way to enter this with a leveled playing field is a fantasy draft, but the choice is up to the people. And the point of picking teams is well, u get to see the uniform of your liking being used. Ok, there's my 2 cents, good luck to everyone and I look forward to some good times.

The recent trades of Jason Taylor and Jeremy Shockey probably won't be reflected in the rosters at launch. I'm assuming that it will be similar to NHL 08 in that we will have to update the rosters for online play. So some people will get free trades.

Yeah that's a good idea. Like in fantasy leagues. A veto vote by every team in the league to weed out trades that are too unrealistic.

2) For all trades, they should be posted here in this thread and if there are 2 (number can be debated) veto votes for the trade, it will be cancelled. If not, the trade will go through.

Hey we got through one two years ago, it only took us until March. ;) The amount of players is going to be the biggest problem. I've found that more than 12 gets to be a pain. With the size of this league, you shouldn't be afraid to drop players and potentially recreate the league with a shorter schedule to keep things moving. It might make a mess of a few team's records, but more than likely the playoffs teams are going to be the players who stick with the game anyway. Though flex scheduling (which I haven't really looked into) makes it seem like you can just drop people if they don't play and find suitable replacements.

I played a game of 08 again tonight and it was just absolutely atrocious. One of the reasons I didn't make it through a season this year.

I'm just not a fan of Tom Hammond though. He just makes me think so much of Notre Dame football, so hearing him in a pro game just doesn't jive with me. Plus he sounds very robotic in his delivery. The transitions don't seem to come off so smooth and the play-by-play still sounds generic. Maybe there's more color commentary to liven things up.

I'd love it if EA could bring on board the Dan Stevens and Peter O'Keefe talent from 2K. Or better yet, bring in Pat Summerall for color and find someone who's not so dull with the play-by-play.

I really like the demo. It sucks that you can only play one drive, but the game feels and looks great. It retains the classic Madden gameplay, but with several little touches that make things that much more enjoyable. The presentation has been redone, and the stadiums look and feel alive, like you're really at the event. This already looks leagues better (pun intended) than the already pretty good NCAA 09.

wonderful... so online seasons... can you do franchises or just 1 season online? Is there a reliable list of online season/franchise features/info? What about rosters? The Favre thing doesn't make a difference for me now, but I'm sure whoever has the Jets will want him, and the Dolphins might get a competent QB in Chad Pennington.

Right now I'm debating on getting the game. I actually care more about Head Coach than Madden this year.

I canceled my pre-order for Madden CE and switched it over to GoW 2 LE and Left 4 Dead. But I may still pick it up from Wal-Mart on Tuesday. I just wanted to give you guys a heads up so we can have replacement lined up for the Bears if I don't end up getting the game.

And Matt, the EA guys are planning on releasing a roster update on the day the game comes out with Favre on the Jets. Pennington probably won't be on the Dolphins on the first update though.

Okay, I must have read that differently then. I thought it was that you needed to play so many games just to get into a league. I'm not sure why they didn't offer the chance to use the actual schedule or generate a normal 16 game schedule.

Yeah, that's what people are pissed off about because unless you do like a 16 team league, it's going to take forever to get through a season, thus making online leagues worthless. EA really dropped the ball on this one because football is the only sport where you could realistically play a full season with EVERY team without people losing interest.

This was their chance to have the most realistic football sim ever...and they fumbled at the goal line. How they thought this was a good idea, I'll never know. Teams don't play every other team in the real NFL, EA...and we don't need to either. Idiots!

I was in this mlb 2k8 league where they had a website on freewebs.com. it worked surprisingly well for a mlb league. I think you should make a site on freewebs.com and put all the members, a schedule, and a forum there.
Then we can keep track of alll the people that are committed and the people that are not committed

I think we should try and limit the league to like 10-14 teams and you play each team once. You could play your games in any order and maybe the top half of the league would make the playoffs.

Like I said earlier, I'm not getting the game for a while, but here's a suggestion. Maybe have four pools with a set number of teams in each. Then have each team play the other teams in their pool and the top couple teams from each pool make it to the playoffs. That's just a suggestion, though.

Wow. This is my favourite idea so far. We can have 8 leagues that have each team play each other twice (they'll be the proper NFL divisions) then we can break it down and each winner will go to an 8-man thing that won't be a league but rather users will set up matches.

has anyone had a full online match yet? When i play, usually after the 1st quarter I get "connection has been lost with your opponent". Often times the score has been tied, so I am assuming that my opponent is not quitting on purpose. Online matches seem to still be buggy.

I think in a week we will find out who is really interested and we can trim the fat. I am throwing my hat in there for a condensed league with the Giants if it happens. In the meantime I am making sure I don't suck so bad when the league does start. :D
