I have a HP laptop coming (dv6700t series) with a bluray player, and would like to get some headphones to get the most out of it. Any suggestions(preferably under 100$)? I was considering the Razer Barracudes, but think those might be a waste by not being able to use all 4 of the connectors on it.

This would go just slightly over $100... but probably the best pair you can buy around that price would be the Sennheiser HD 555's, which are normal stereo headphones but just perform spectacularly. I've owned two pairs of Sennheisers, and they really are long-lasting and very high quality.

Edit: Having looked at the headphones you were considering... I really would suggest you NOT look for surround sound headphones at that price. Truly high quality surround sound headphones cost far more than $100, and what you'll get end up getting at a low price is headphones with 3 crappy tiny speakers on each ear. Why go with 6 worthless speakers when you could go with 2 excellent speakers?

Another one for just a little over $100 to look at:

I own both the Sennheiser HD 595 and ath-a900 (slightly upgraded version of the 555 and ath-a500) and I love them both. I also will agree with the above poster. Surround sound headphones are not generally worth it. Go with a quality pair of stereo headphones.

Thanks for the input so far guys. I'm glad I didn't grab those Barracudas now.

I'm not one for big cans, I like the Sennheiser PX100's, but they won't block external noise like the bigger cans will, so if that's an issue, go with the bigger ones.

I have been using the ATH-A900s for over a year and love them. They're pretty huge, but comfortable and have great sound quality. Plus they block out ambient noise better than open 'phones like the Sennheiser hd555's.

actually for driver support Barracuda is the best headset you could possibly get. If you're going to be gaming you will get an amazing hardware advantage because you can adjust how far you hear players from you. If you have considered doing some competitive gaming, the Barracuda is a must for games like COD4 or TF2.
