Yeah, I felt the quake. It wasn't any worse than the other recent ones. Maybe a little stronger due to the center being in San Bernardino, but the duration was only 6-7 seconds rather than 10-15. No big deal.

Haha, so sorry to offend. I watched a couple of the movies lately and felt nostalgic. John Stamos was quacking like a motherfucker, hahaha (now there's an odd sentence). I wish they had the old jerseys in this game though. The new ones suck.

Well, the main difference is that online opponents cheese and glitch like it's the only way to score. Solid defense (even from the forwards) is a MUST.

I'd be fine getting on 30-45 minutes early on Friday to play league games. I'd honestly rather do that than break up the flow of the EASHL games. Sometimes, it's tough getting our groups synced up to begin with. So starting, stopping, and then trying to restart would probably be a PITA.

For those who can't play their game before 10 PM EST, I'd suggest doing it after 2 AM EST (when we're at least scheduled to stop, but never do, haha). Either that or a different night. In my opinion, the downfall of leagues isn't really finding the "right night". It's finding people who actually give a shit to contact their opponent and get their game played.

Well, I just checked the official NHL 09 forum and that doesn't seem to be it. I did see what AK posted though, about EA working on another patch, and I guess they are shooting for February. It sucks in the meantime, but I have to say, I'm really impressed with the way the NHL 09 team is standing behind their game.

They are actively monitoring the forums and taking in everybody's suggestions...and are actually working on them! How many games EVER do that? With this kind of attention, you'd think NHL was EA Sports top product, and not Madden. Who'da thunk it? :)

I saw several people playing. After I got back, my friend hung out and we played Left 4 Dead, which is why I didn't join up.

At the Reign game, Zatkoff, who was just sent down from Manchester of the AHL, apparently got injured as he was pulled with a 3-2 lead in the 3rd. The Reign lost 4-3 to the Utah Grizzlies in overtime.

Tomorrow, there is a game between the Ontario firemen and the New York firemen before the Reign vs. Grizzlies game. That should be fun. Doubleheader!

Well, not a good night for the CAG hockey team last night. Somehow, in about 5 hours of play, we never managed to win a single game. We really caught a lot of tough breaks though and ran into some surprisingly stellar AI goaltending.

We consistently outshot our opponents almost all night long, but didn't get a cheap goal the entire time, and had several games where we didn't score at all until the final 2 minutes of the 3rd period. Many of the games, the opposing team's goalie was the #2 or #1 star, so that tells you something.

We did have a 6 man team going for much of the night though, and had various guys playing goalie. I thought everybody in net played well though, and I don't remember having a human goalie give up more than 3 goals (which is EASILY on par with the AI). I guess that's just how it goes sometimes. We'll get em next week!

That made me sad we didn't win at least one game. Moojuiced asked If I wanted to play again but I didn't think I could go through losing again. I was in the dumps to say lol. But It was still fun none the less, I'll take an assist anyday. Plus Before I joined back up, I bought Castle Crashers. I wanted to play that for awhile before I fell asleep.

We honestly did, honestly. But yet not a single damn goal. Espically when we did a cross pass the goalie freaking saved everything. But of course when they did it to our goalie, they scored every time. I love this game but man does it piss me off so much. I hate to say it but, it honestly want's me to 99glitch just to be on par with alot of the other teams. But I'd be few of the people that would get banned or what ever they are gonna do. I say fix the glitch then reset the stats. End of discussion.

Hey man, I can add you to the team no problem. I got your friend request on Live, but I was thinking "Who the hell is ChunkyB?" haha. I thought maybe you were one of the randoms I was playing with. Anyway, the next time I hop on, I'll add you to the team (unless somebody beats me to it).

And as far as numbers and positions go, while technically, Gary (Vulcan2422) is #2, it's not anything that's strictly enforced. Same with position. We usually rotate and try to give everybody a chance to score. It also helps recognizing what you're good at. Look forward to seeing you out there! :)

Bumping that post for others. I've figured out how to invite, so if you cant find the league for whatever reason, let me know.

And in the interest of having some structure, I've been thinking about creating either a bracket or a group structure (ala World Cup qualifications) so that we don't have mass confusion of who will play who/finding an opponent. I am not sure how a free for all for finding an opponent will work out. Thoughts?

Also, now that I think about it, even with 12 of us, playing each other twice, with only one game required per week...it's going to take a long ass time to get through a "season". Do we want to commit to this? If not, we have several options:

1- We each play each other once rather than twice
2- We commit to playing several games per week
3- We can form smaller leagues, winners from those leagues play each other (like modern professional sports
4- ???

Personally, I still play this a lot, so I would be willing to commit to more games.

I pretty much agree with everything you said, especially that last sentiment. And playing doubleheaders is a great idea to get the games done in a timely manner. It really shouldn't be too complicated, but as with anything, communication is going to be key. Nobody should be signing up for this league simply because it's a "neat idea".

And moojuice shouldn't have to hunt people down and beg them to play their games. I can never understand why people sign up for stuff and then disappear. Considering most of us attend the weekly hockey nights, hopefully this won't be a problem. But others should realize that they'll be held to these same standards.

2 doubleheaders every week might be a bit much, but I definitely think striving for 3 double headers (ie 6 games total) over the span of 2 weeks should be doable. That would put the timeframe at about 8 weeks...which to me seems reasonable. Not quite as demanding as 6, but not as slow as 11 either. But ultimately, whatever you think will be best moojuice. Deciding how to run a league is always a double-edged sword. There's pros and cons to everything.

It's all good. Nate should be able to set you up with getting you on the CAG Team. Then go to the dressing room or one of those and you'll see invites. Sorry for my incompleteness lol. I don't have the game on right now.

Also that LB glitch is complete bullshit. Hit a dude yesterday and within a instance he got right back up. This game keeps getting me more and more pist every time they find a new glitch.

Yeah, do what Gary (Vulcan) said. Search for the team (CAG), and then view the "team hub" or whatever it's called. Flip through the pages until you get to invites. You should see one there for you (I sent it out yesterday). I swear, when this game first came out, it used to send people messages on Live when they had a team invite. Not sure what caused that to stop.

Anyway, once you've accepted the invite, just show up in the dressing room at 10 PM on Friday nights. If you're late, and nobody's in there, we're probably already playing. Just hang out, or keep an eye on our game to know when to get back in there. Sometimes people have trouble linking up with us in the dressing room, but you gotta have patience. When I get on at 10, I usually wait about 5 minutes to start the first game (depending on how many people are already there). After that, it's a free for all. Bottom line is, if you're in the dressing room, you'll be in the game.

Nothing to do with the CAG NHL team but, my dad sent me an e-mail that my fav second player in NHL (my dad always thought he was my favorite so I will let him be! lol) Claude Lemieux is retunring to the Ice this Saturday for the San Jose Sharks. I'm probably gonna try to DVR the game. My dad's fav player just came back and scored a goal, Brendan Shanahan.It's nice when he keeps me up to date with the old players I remember. :D

I removed Gillums from the active roster because I haven't seen him play this game in months. I think he was there for the first CAG Hockey Night back in November, but not one since. And for the new guys, you'll be added to the active roster after you play your first game. Trying to keep this "active roster" as ACTIVE as possible. :)

Haha, great to see so many people had a good time last night! I think with the league games before and then club play, I was playing NHL 09 for something like 6 hours straight, haha. I didn't really have a great night statistically. I think I ended up with 2 goals (one of which got wiped away because the team quit as soon as I scored), and maybe like 3 assists. Just couldn't seem to get it going for some reason. Like moojuice, toward the end I was just getting tired and started playing pretty sluggish.

The dressing room flaws are really noticeable when you have as many people on as we did last night. I wish EA could patch that and implement either a numbered system (ie. dressing room 1, dressing room 2) or do what Captain Obvious suggested and have a main room that lets you just split up into groups so you know who's playing with who. Overall, pretty good games last night. And at least we finished with a win! Thanks to everybody for coming out, and welcome to the newcomers! :)

Well, I definitely felt the pressure that the end of the second game n8, so no worries.

In that OT game Vega, it was like the game wanted me to lose. Can;t believe I got a 5 minute major. Killed most of it, and I thought I was home free for the shootout. Was at a 100% kill rate up until then too.

Well, it looks like I am out of commision for a few weeks. Just got red-ringed.

I printed the shipping labels rather than having them send me a box, and it only took 8 days total. Try that.

Wpark, yesterday was totally my fault. Well, it wasn't so much under my control, but you're right- I was supposed to play you yesterday. I'm sorry. I ended up not being able to sleep, but before I resigned myself to staying awake until leaving at 7 A.M., you had already signed off for the night.

My appointment was a standby one, which meant I'd get in to see the doctor whenever he had a ago between other appointments. So, having been awake for close to 24 hours already by the time I got to the office, I ended up waiting in an uncomfortable chair in the lobby with crazy people (shared physician/mental health clinic, public for the county- guess I get what I pay for at $37 a year/no insurance) from 7:30 A.M. till almost 4 P.M. Last time, it only took 2 hours. I slept for 15 hours after I got home. It had been a day from hell.

I'll be available today, Destro and anyone else who wants to play. Wpark, hopefully we can play soon after you've got your box hooked up. I'll do my best to accommodate your schedule. Are you moving back to Connecticut?

After last nights slaughter, something came up: What if we did private CAG matches against each other, rather that against randoms. Usually, we have a turnout of 10-12 people, so we could easily get games going against each other. We can still use our own characters, and we would be guaranteed a cleaner game. Anybody interested?

We didn't win a game last night pretty much because we were overmatched in each game. It's hard to do anything when each team you play is stroner, faster, and have laser beams for shots. A couple gams had the scores of 8-2, 7-1...closest game was before I was there. 5-3 I think.

We threw around the idea of playing against each other next week instead of the random gams. Something different, but at least the games would be competitive and fun.

Yeah, this is exactly what I was going to say. Not only could we not win a game, but we couldn't win for losing either. When the AI was in net, he'd just "miss" pucks that were hit seemingly right at him. And when you were in net, you would block their laser shots, but the rebounds were fatter than the new Jessica Simpson.

Even with me 99 glitching, it doesn't matter because even I'm not fast enough to make up for the 5 guys on the other team who are doing it. The online play in this game has gotten to a point where everyone on the team HAS to 99 glitch, LB glitch, and be 5'7" 155lbs to stand a chance. I think we ran across one team all night who didn't abuse glitches...and that was the game Destro fell asleep during (I was yelling "wake up!" into my mic), which resulted in an all game penalty kill and something like a 4-2 loss.

As moojuice mentioned, these red-headed stepchild beatings led us to thinking about splitting the CAG team up and just playing against each other each week so we'd be guaranteed fair play and a good time. Obviously, I'd reset my stats so I wouldn't be 99 glitching anymore. We joked about "drug testing" the CAG team to make sure nobody was "juicing", basically by taking a screen shot of your stats. Ultimately, this led to jokes about having a friend take a screen shot for you, or even purchasing a screen shot on the internet, haha.

As far as I know (thanks to moojuice's brainstorming), the only way to get it to work would be to go to the online team play community, set up a private game, and then invite people to it. You then just choose your side and play as normal. You still get to use your created skater, but the teams would be just the normal teams, so no stat tracking there.

I've tried researching if there's any possible way to do it within actual club play, and the only response I've gotten is to make sure the captains of each club have the same rating, and you'll have a higher chance of being matched up randomly. It's kinda sad that that's the best method EA has. You'd think a "Challenge Club" option would be great, but at least we can still do the private game thing.

Anyway, what does everybody think of this? Honestly, it may not even be very necessary for long depending on when the next patch comes, and how effective it is. It's just at a point where you can't even enjoy hitting/lying on the ice/fighting even when you're losing because the other team is so fast they can skate circles around you and STILL glitch goal anyway. At least this way, we can have a good time, knowing that your opponents aren't trying to bend you over the penalty box like Miss America...well, unless you're Gary ;)

Thanks ;) And yeah, I wouldn't want to unless there was a guaranteed way of setting up matches. I enjoy it for the stat tracking, team trophies, etc. But it's really not worth it just in the hope that you "find" each other when randomly setting up a match. I did think it would be cool to have a CAG Draft though. Maybe we'll see "club challenge" as a feature in 2010.

Well, like I said, there's no way to do this with actual created club teams. Getting matched up would be pure random luck. The best we can do is private OTP play and let the captains choose whatever team they feel like using. And as moojuice mentioned, doing it that way, there's no real need to set defined "rosters". People can just join whatever side they feel like (keeping things even of course). I'm just sick of taking beatings from random douchebags. I'd at least like to take a beating from a douchebag I know ;)

Well thanks to some CAG'rs and a unknown person called Acerfan84, I got in a few games before 10:30. I like this CAG's against CAG's really. We all know we won't get bamboozled by a glitch goal or some 99 glitcher's, but you will be checked ALOT by my self as I think I am the Official CAG NHL 09 goon/enforcer :D

I did get home at 1:10 but nobody at all was online. I suppose cause we started early. But all in all, it was fun times.

I also sat around in the dressing room waiting last night until AK was kind enough to invite me into the party. So do you guys just play against each other exclusively now? Sounds like there's a lot of cheating and cheap play on XBL (shocking development there :roll:).

Well, last night, we just played private OTP sessions against each other rather than the normal club play. We had to play unranked so neither the stats nor skater grade count for anything, but the biggest losing margin the entire night was 3 goals. We had several games go into overtime and even had a 2-0 game turn into a 2-2 game, before one team came away with a 3-2 victory in OT.

Overall, it was much more competitive this way, and I think most CAGs enjoyed it far more than being cheated and raped by players with names like "URMOMLUVSCOCK". It kinda sucks that the skater grade doesn't count at all because the only reason mine had dipped back to a C+ is because of these losers who glitch the entire game.

I checked the EA forums and they're saying the patch is 2-3 weeks away. It would be amazing if they could somehow make regular club play like these games. There will still be idiots who go for cross crease passes all game, but I'm hoping if their speed and passing aren't both 99, it won't be as easy to pull off. Anyway, until then, playing against each other definitely seems to be the way to go. I had a good time last night.

Yeah, people were slowly dropping like flies. We played one or two games of 2 on 2, and then somebody else had to go, so rather than play 1 on 2 and wait for your drunken ass to come back, haha, we just decided to call it a night. I'd actually be ok with keeping hockey night earlier (as Mr Hockey initially wanted to).

The main reason I kept it late was for the west coasters. But Matt seems to play more throughout the week, and less on Fridays (and oddly enough...seems to have more availability earlier in the night anyway). The other west coaster (that I know of) was Wpark, but he just moved back to the east coast. moojuice and darktower are in Colorado, so that's what, a 2 hour difference? Would playing from 8-12 make things easier on anybody?

Playing private matches the last few days has been so much more fun and realistic. Really, the way we were playing is how all OTP games should be played, but hey, it's Xbox live so what can you expect from randoms.

Hopefully they get this next patch right, because it seems like it'll be the last before NHL 10 comes out...at least it seems that way on the EA NHL boards.

As for moving it to 8 EST, I will definitely be late, as that is when I get home from work. I will for sure be on later on in the night though.

I played six league games tonight all but one went to ot. I lost alot in ot. I want wparks again!!!! beat me twice in ot. One in shoot out! I moved up pretty quick. Do you get points for ot? Like real hockey?

Yeah mrhockey, you get the OT point if you lose. And yes, great games today. That first game I think I had the whole way, I missed three shots off the post, one I thought was a goal that didn't get called. That second game though was so tight. Really good competition, and I appreciate you gettin games in already.

Yeah, you get 1 point for OT losses...just like IRL. I'd like everybody to vote on the time issue. moojuice mentioned not getting off work till 8 PM EST...so it would be tough for him. The only other compromise I can think of is 9 - 1, but that just feels like a weird block of time, haha.

I wen't from turning off the music off, to not pressing "A" during breaks to listen to the music. I highly recommend this. If you are skeptical, d/l the Break in Play music.
