Price at Target B&M is $29.99, so the sale would only garner like a 10% raincheck.

There's something inherently wrong when people are getting pissed off about being able to find games when they are on a good sale.

This week i got a 44% for FF-X2 and last week I got 51% off for GTAVC. So they happen quite often.

They don't need to sell out. Just get the SKU and take it up front to customer service.

Well, to get the Rain check legit, then the game has to be OOS. It all depends on what sells out. Target always has xbox,ps2 and gcn games on sale, but not all of them sell out...... Your target may sell out of Ps2 game more frequently, though.

Get the item number, take it up front, and ask a customer service person to get you a rain check. The SKU for Driv3r is 207 12 0785.

Yes. Or you can substitute in another game and get the 47% off which is why people love it so much.

Well, all I did was go up to an employee, ask them if they have "game" in stock and if not when they gonna restock. When they say out of stock and don't know when is restock, I look all sad and serious, and then ask them if I can get a raincheck then. The employee goes to where the "game" is being displayed, copies SKU #, goes back to register and prints out RC for me. I thank him and came back 2 hours later when he went to lunch and get a game. :P

Go look at the UPC of a game and get the SKU. It usually starts with 207, as far as I know. It's always in the format of xxx xx xxxx. Take that number up to customer service and ask for a rain check. Tell them you have the SKU, and that's pretty much it.

Anyone know if Target enforces the ESRB stuff?
I couldn't get any M games at TRU without some one being 17.
Anyways, I was thinking if they don't, maybe people that look underage could get a raincheck if they asked for one if the game was instock.

The register prompts the cashier to enter the birthdate of the customer on M-Rated games. A lot of times, the cashier doesn't even know what the register is doing, I tell them about the age check thing and they just press some button to skip it (I'm over 17 anyway, but it shouldn't be a problem regardless)

i work at target. we're supposed to ask birthdates, but i usually skip it if it's a teenager or if they look old enough. it prompts us to type in a birthdate, but the cashier can just hit enter and skip the process. it was funny when i first started working there, not knowing i could skip this process. i once asked this old lady for her birthdate and she asked for a manager.
on topic sort of with the rainchecks.. i'm actually the "specialist" for the electronics dept. and at some targets, all the leaders of the departments get together for a weekly meeting to discuss issues with the ad. i've got an issue with a particular cell phone going on sale, that i haven't seen get restocked in months. i brought this up, and was told to set up a substitute for a similar phone. after that, i asked whether or not this can be done with other items. i was told that it can, and if a certain item is already low in stock headed into the beginning of the ad week, a substitute should be set up (which is usually the case at our target for paper products and some consumables). honestly, i didn't press too far into the matter, but i think it's a matter of a lot of electronics specialists/leaders not caring. i only care when someone's being a punk-biitch to me, haha.
some guy came in today to buy red dead, and we were out so i gave him a raincheck. he came back and decided to buy madden. he was ready to pay 50 bucks, but i pointed out the sub clause to him. he told me i should hoard those every chance i get and sell them.. that's a bit messed up, but not that bad of an idea.

They can't not sell it to you. The ESRB is a guideline, not law. If they refuse to sell something, sue them. :)

More like 'store policy.'
But I do get pissed when I read about people walking out with like six rainchecks at a time. Who then complain about the people who get ten.

If it's that bad, I disagree with it. If you were gonna buy one or two copies of the game, though, and they don't have it, then I think it's totally all right.

I don't care. There's 5 or 6 new threads a day started about THE SAME TOPIC. It's getting out of hand.

And they're the most abused deal out there. I have nothing against Target rainchecks. I have one in my possession now, as a matter of fact, but when people insist on making topics every two seconds, the entire thing gets blown outta proportion.

hmm has anyone else tried to take the sku number to customer service and get a raincheck? Couldn't they just have someone check to see if the game was there and ban you or something to that effect?
why not just automatically lock these redundant raincheck threads? i thought i saw a main "one and only" thread about it somewhere. I personally get sick of seeing these raincheck threads every 4-7 posts down =/
