Can someone please elaborate on this Ultra Rare Wolverine, I've seen it mentioned several times but no one seems to go into detail


Because not much is known about it. So that's why it gets mentioned but never goes into detail. If I ever find one I will go into detail about it and post it up.

FINALLY! Finally saw some new Marvel MM. These things are super scarce in my area but I managed to finally see: Silver Surfer, Wolverine, That Galcatus dude, Human Torch. I'm still keeping my eye out for Iron Man.

PS, grabbed Surfer, Galactus, and Torch. All I want from Marvel now is Thor and Dr. Doom until I see more Fantastic Four Muggs. Though I am tempted to pick up a Wolverine cuz he's neat looking. And maybe a few others when I'm out hunting for Star Wars Muggs.

For my fellow CAGers in Nor Cal, the Urban Outfitters in Santa Cruz had a ton of MMs in stock. Granted they were $20 a piece, but they had iron man, the thing, dr. doom, spider-man, ghost rider, etc. The only one they didn't have was venom ... but for anyone looking for iron man, I suppose $20 is better than not finding it at all. Oh, and they also had Princess Leia, Jango Fett, chewie, yoda and a couple other SW's muggs you don't see as much.

Oh, btw, food for thought ... what would you guys say is the most valuable Mugg right now?

The one you are talking about is probably the hibernating Wolverine, the one without eyes, that is the only Wolverine I seen on there that is different. Similar to the Wolverine I have, that one is probably some painting error as DocRamon said.

Anyway, I really cannot complain enough about the quality of paint job of Muggs these days. I saw another Captain Rex today in Target and it had one of the worst paint job I have seen. There was a patch of paint on left side of his chin as if it was an attempt of some sort to fix/cover up, I suppose, another bad paint job. :-x

Sucks to hear that LinkinPrime, but that is one of the biggest problem that some of the current Muggs seem to suffer, either they are trying to put out more Muggs and loosen the quality control, or just plain suck quality control these days.

Hopefully re-release Venom would not suffer such problem or suffer too badly.:-|

the touch up painting is the WORST. that's the problem i have with my c-3po, which is why i'm looking for another one. i couldn't tell by looking in the box, but the left side of his head (the side covered by the box, not open to the window half) looks like it had several holes in the plastic, that they attempted to cover up with putty and paint over. it looks AWFUL.

i also have a leia and a stormtrooper with issues. they're white characters, so marks stand out so much worse. the back of the stormtroopers all-white head and the back of leia's all-white torso (spots i couldn't see when i bought them) look like a 3-year-old went nutz with a black magic marker.

and i just got a blank black mugg in the mail today from hasbro... it looks like oil/grease has stained spots around the neck. i could try to complain, but it seems weird bitching that my all-black mugg is blacker in some spots than he (or she) is in the others.

I got to work a couple minutes early and decided to stop in Target. I wasn't expecting much but I found Marvel wave 4 (again). I picked up Human Torch because the box was in excellent condition. Passed on Galactus because didn't want to buy 2 at once and passed on Silver Surfer because it was the dent version and the box was meh.

Saw a Star Wars mugg ripped open from the top. Wonder how long that will sit there.

Now that you mention it, I think my SS has touch up paint on the lower side "jaw" area. Looks like the SS variants we get to choose from are "dented head" edition or "sloppy silver paint" surfer ... hopefully it's not a trend, although one thing I did notice when comparing an old wolverine to the rerelease is that that paint seemed cleaner on the new edition. My only guess is that they may have changed the old rubber heads to harder plastic because of the paint application? Just a thought

I told myself I would stop buying toys a year ago, and I held off on buying these Mighty Muggs when I saw them. However, the other day I saw a Iron Man Mugg, and I just had to have it so I picked it up. Fast forward three days later and I already picked up Wolverine, Spiderman, Black Spiderman, Hulk, and Captain America. Man these things are addicting, and they look great on display. I will probably only end up getting the Marvel ones, and maybe a few Transformers when those are released. Add me to the Mighty Mugg club.

Anyone know the chances that these will actually hit some sort of clearance/sale at Urban Outfitters? I stopped by one yesterday and they had quite a few I'd be interested in, but not for $20. They also had these cool Simpsons Kidrobot mini-vinyl figures, but they're $8, only stand about 2in high, and you don't know which one you're getting inside the box.

Back of the box (first wave pics or 4th wave pics), but I wouldn't say either one is really all that rare, considering I've seen both on several occasions. This could just be me, but the paint application on the head seems a bit cleaner on the re-release.

I went on the hunt today at some new stores on the other side of town. Heres my report.

Toys R Us - Wow, first off it was noisy because it was Geoffry's birthday party. But it was well worth it. There was a huge selection. Probably 10 of Luke Skywalker (w/o black eye) and Obi-Wan, 1 Boba Fett, 1 Darth Maul, 1 General Grievous, and 1 Stormtrooper. I picked up the Stormtrooper to see if I can trade it. As for Indiana Jones all they had was Indys and Mola Rams. Marvel had 2 Ghost Riders, 2 Thors, 2 Black Spidermans, and 5 Doc Ocks. I grabbed a Black Spiderman. I will looking here a lot.

Borders - Nothing, either I missed them (looked in the comic/magna area) or they didn't have anything. Doesn't matter I wouldn't have paid $20 anyways, unless they had Venom.

Target - Another bust, only a couple common Star Wars and Indy's, most being busted open.

Walmart - Yet another bust. Saw Monkey Man and Mutt Williams, everything else were commons.

So TRU really got my hopes up for the hunt. And its funny how people say Hulk is the easiest to find because I think I've seen 1 in the 7 stores I have looked at. Indiana Jones is my Hulk.

I think it probably has to do with idiot toy resellers who bother the employees several times a week for the "toys in the back" because they just KNOW that a shipment came in today and they have to buy those "2 per case" toys that they can make 5 bucks on.

That is quite alright.:) Was just wondering why you got pissed off about it. But I did saw one Spider-Man Muggs at a Toys 'R' Us, forgot which one, and about 75% of top is ripped off. Saw another Muggs some other store have the top all ripped off. And have seen many Muggs been opened and box mangled.:-|

Similar thing happened to me too. I was actually in at a Walmart one day and saw Mutt William and maybe a Monkey Man as well. And I was asking an employee about whether they have more, and the guy just stated that what is on the shelves is what they have, and that they have trucks coming in every night and they restock them every night, which I doubt is true.

Unfortunately, according to Hasbro the Indiana Jones line is being canceled so if you are out there and you see any of wave 2, which is Henry Jones, Monkey Man, and Mutt Williams, you are going to want to grab them. Not sure what this means for the Salah and Short Round Entertainment Earth exclusives though...

indy waves 3 and 4 being canceled doesn't have any real effect on wave 2. they've already been produced and are still making their way to stores (just at a slow rate since wave 1 is clogging shelves). any leftover stock that hasbro has will be offered online, which is probably why they've been available and in stock for weeks now. basically... wave 2 isn't hard to find, but it's almost entirely being picked up online.

A frustrating hunt today. I went the long way home from work to stop at a Target, Kmart, and Walmart.

Target - Walk into the aisle. Holy shit, 1 Captain America and 2 Hulk (Hulks are hard to come by for me). Picked up the CA and the box was good, paint had a couple minor problems. Turn around to the Star Wars/Indy section. Indy, meh the usual. Star Wars, holy shit again, 4 eyed Darth Vader in great condition. Yoink. I decided to just get the Darth Vader.

K-mart - Pull up and see 2 big signs "Store Closing". "Yes! Maybe I can some cheap MM". Walk in the toy section and it was torn to pieces and everything was 25% off. I had to walk every aisle to see if I can find some. I found Wolverine, Captain America, and Hulk each with their own personal problems. Found a Spiderman that was in decent shape but decided to hide it and wait for 50%+ off.

Walmart - Go to the huge clearance toy aisle and scanned it a couple times. So much but no MM. Went to the regular section. Found another 4 eyed Vader but the box was squished, The Thing with the box ripped, and yet another Captain America that was sub par.

So many MM I want but such poor conditions. But hey, 1 great 4 eyed Darth Vader.

Don't know of any place besides ebay but with the 30% ebay cashback promotion when you use paypal right now...ebay is definitely going to be your best bet. Unfortunately you won't see the 30% cashback for about 60-75 days.
I personally have just used this promotion to get the SDCC Peter Parker and SDCC Iron Man myself.

Just got back from one of the Walmart's in my area.
They had Galactus, Silver Surfer, Wolverine, Dr. Doom, The Human Torch, and The Hulk + a whole bunch of Star Wars ones but those I don't like.
The Dr. Doom was the only one that really interested me but it's box was messed up. It was 50/50 till one of the associates there yelled at me for opening the box. I was like wtf the box was already opened hahaha! Then I left.
My mom is stopping by another one today, hopefully some luck.

but wolverine is being re-released as part of a wave with new characters. venom is being re-released in a "refresher" case with 3 other re-releases. and i'm starting to suspect that these cases won't be going to regular old stores, simply based on the timing. the next new wave of marvels should be showing up pretty soon here. i don't know when they'd put out cases of old figures.

and i'm honestly a little surprised to hear people say that there are muggs they don't like. i mean, granted, not all of them are the best, but some of the ones getting mentioned as 'not liked' are some of my faves. captain america is one of the best ones! and some of the star wars muggs (lando!) are great!

emperor isn't rare, no... at least not around me.

and ohhh yeah... it's (sadly) very normal for them to have marks, paint smudges, bad touch-ups, etc. all you can do is pay close attention when buying and try to pick the best one. and even then, you might find something terrible on the figure's back.

I'm pretty sure they made Punisher as a Toys R Us exclusive, and I think they swapped Punisher out for a Wolverine reprint. He should be out sometime in November.

The Emperor is not rare anymore. I see them in couple stores taking over the places of Obi-Wan and Luke.:roll:

Wolverine with marks on him is normal, but to tell you the truth, it is also signs of bad quality control. Hasbro sort of just let it go. I have seen weird marks on Wolverine all the time now. I have seen a Captain America with weird patch of paint on his uniform and his shield has some weird white mark, possibly from some krazy glue. And all the Captain Rex I have seen have bad paint job. :-|

Couple days ago, I was putting my Muggs into box for storing, I have noticed that the Human Torch I have have a mark near his chin. And when I was at stores looking for dent free Silver Surfer, I have also notice that few of them have the mark too. Guess it is the same as the dent on Silver Surfer, some manufacturer problem for certain batches of Muggs.

One strange thing, there seems to be less and less Indiana Jones Muggs, whether it is wave 1 or wave 2, in some stores, not sure if it has anything to do with the supposed cancelled waves or they are just trying to clear the stock before getting more in.

Just got my SDCC Iron Man in from ebay and man, that Muggers Sweet!!

Been picking up a lot of my missing pieces from ebay with the 30% cashback promotion without having to pay too much over retail price.
My tip is to ask the seller to add the shipping costs to their buy it now price, so you can maximize the 30% cashback. So if something was $14.99 plus $5.00 s/h, I would ask them to change it to $19.99 buy it now with free shipping.

He makes a good point, they are not rare I would say(except for venom) but just uncommon. Like I have seen only one Jango(is still at my Wal Mart) and a Leia that is still hangin at Target. There are like only one or two per store is what I have seen.

Hiding them is not going to make them think they sold them. Inventory is taken by the computers when items are sold. When an item reaches a certain quantity level more is automatically sent to replace it. Most stores get 1 case of Muggs (4 Muggs in a case, 1 of each character) every week or 2 (for me at least). I know my Walmart has 2 sets of Marvel Wave 4 right now.

A new Target opened up in my area today and I stopped by and found Thor. It was the first time that I had seen a Thor B&M. Man, he sure is orange!

They also had 1 Dr. Jones, 2 Mutt Williams and a Monkey Man. I would have picked up Dr. Jones but a guy and his mom got there right before me and picked him up. They were asking a Target employee if they had any more MMs in the back. I had to go so I couldn't find out if they did.

Been to 6 Targets and 4 Walmarts and 3 ToysRus in the past two weeks.... finally found ONE lone Galactus hanging out at a Walmart. My first sighting ever since hearing about their release in early Sept. Snatched that up right quick... too bad no Silver Surfer but there were a ton of Human Torches burning a hole in my retina with their day glow paint job. I passed. I was happy to find Galactus though (grinning all the way to the checkout lane).

When I got home and opened the box, to my surprise I found on the back of my prize art toy, a nice shiny fingerprint smugging up the purple paint. Don't these factory guys in China know better to wear gloves when painting a figure, or better yet, let the paint dry before handling it? These toys are cool and all, but the quality control department is in dire need of improvement!!

That being said... can't wait until Punisher comes out and finding the elusive Silver Surfer.

(Hint: For those on the hunt - Borders got a bunch of Venoms, but personally I don't understand the draw aside from their rarity... not very good looking in my opinion... the custom Venom on eBay is 100x better)

Thanks for the information. Since Walmart would have no record of those particular Mighty Muggs being sold, do you think they would consider them as being stolen? Also, after contacting Walmart management via phone (this may not surprise anyone), it I was informed that the MM manufacturer issues a certain number of MMs at regularly scheduled time regardless of how many are in stock in a particular store. The management guy that I spoke with didn't mention a quantity level, but perhaps he failed to mention that; what you're saying actually makes more sense.

Is it improper to offer trades in this thread? I was thinking since we appear to be a finite group on CAG that this one thread encompassed all MM dealings. If this is the wrong place, please remove the following and inform me where this kind of thing should go.

The Iron Man I picked up to trade. The box is in damn-near perfect condition unlike the box I received from Walmart.com. It had a box-cutter slice along 2 sides of the bottom. Anyway I'd be interested in trading for any other uncommon or rare MMs.(ie: Leia, Yoda, Cody, Venon<-wishful thinking I know :lol:)

apparently the canadian boxes ALL have vader on the front, and the character's name is simply a sticker put over what, presumably, says "darth vader" underneath. the back of the box features all characters from the wave, and no character-specific images like the US boxes. kinda boring.

apparently the canadian boxes ALL have vader on the front, and the character's name is simply a sticker put over what, presumably, says "darth vader" underneath. the back of the box features all characters from the wave, and no character-specific images like the US boxes. kinda boring.

Hasbro does the exact same thing with 25th Anniversary GI Joes. Generic coverart with a sticker to specify the figure.

So the new Star Wars wave is out in stores. I was over at Urban Outfitters in San Jose, CA and actually went in this time. In addition to 2 venoms, around 6 iron mans and nearly every other marvel mighty mugg, they had several of each of the newest mighty muggs wave including Hoth Han, Grand Moff Tarkin, Ploon?, and Darth Vader without the mask.

I have to say Vader was cool because you can rotate his head to put the mask on or off. They all looked cool ... but being $20 each I decided to pass. So they are out there ...

Shortly after I rolled over to Toys R Us to see if they had the new wave at a decent price and I found 5 captain rex's just sitting there (no new wave though). Kinda crazy considering I hadn't seen Cap. Rex at all over the past 2 months.

I thought about picking up some of the venom's and iron man's for the thread. But I don't think it would be cost efficient for anyone since I'm short on cash and with $20 starting plus shipping it would be something like $30 each which isn't much savings for you guys. But if anyone's reallly desperate, let me know and maybe we can work something out.

So a update on the Iron Man/Walmart issue. I sent an email in response to them saying its not their fault. I just got a phone called (but missed it) and got a message saying that whoever read the first email didn't look at the situation and didn't respond right. They are sending the message to the fulfillment department to see whats up and it probably has something to do with it being sold out now. Plus she was refunding 30% of the price and refunding the shipping.

So I scored (when I get it) an Iron Man for $7. Now I'm not so angry about waiting.

stumbled upon a thing this weekend, ordered peter parker online, and a friend of mine found a venom for me at urban outfitters... so hopefully by the end of the week, i should be COMPLETE. all muggs, all sets... except for those newest star wars ones that haven't really gotten to the major stores yet.

and i'm sorry, maybe i'm just picky... but i've yet to see a customized mugg that i really like. some of them are cool ideas, but they all look so sloppy to me. and most of them are WAY too detailed. i think the best muggs are the simple, more stylized ones. that joker mugg, for example, clearly misses the entire concept of this line. maybe it's just me.
