I was able to score Jango, Capt. Rex, Dooku, Anakin, Asajj , Cmdr. Cody and Lando this evening. The first 5 in a Wal-Mart. I almost missed them because they were on the top shelf. Cody and Lando I picked up at Target.
Also of note is that the Indy MMs are all on sale this week at Target for $8.xx.

Picked up Indiana Jones, Mola Ram and the Cairo Swordsman at Target. I guess I'm a sucker for 20% off. :D I didn't know about the sale until I scanned Indy at the 2nd Target I passed by. Unfortunately, they didn't have the new Indy wave.

Struck out at TRU. They didn't have a single Marvel MM but did have plenty of the most recent SW wave (Anakin, Rex, Dooku, etc...).

Well, I went to check anyway and there were 5 Venoms on the shelf! :D I picked up one for me and one for a friend, so there were 3 more at around 6PM today. Anyone who's looking for Venom and is in SF tomorrow morning should swing by. Thanks so much for the heads up, hotalby! My Marvel collection is almost complete.

Yeah, I'll agree with you on that. Mola Ram was the first Mugg I got, just because he looked so... insane. I kind of want the Monkey Man from wave 2, just because the monkey accessory is one of the weirdest ever. Doc Ock needs to hold a monkey with one of his mechanical arms.

i really think we (mighty mugg collecting community on the whole) need to figure out how to actually distinguish between variant and mistake. granted, it might be a more common mistake, like the dented heads of many silver surfers, but seriously...

why would anyone want a venom with one eye? or a wolverine with no eyes. i just don't get it. that would be like me saying, "i have a yoda with a lot of black marks on his back... variant! no, it's just an error, a bad one, that shoulda been caught in hasbro's quality control, but slipped through the cracks.

something like 2-eyed vader, or lighter stormtroopers... those are variants, and they were consciously changed in production. "sleeping wolverine" and "pirate venom" are errors.

maybe to you... but if you look at other mugg boards, and previous posts from Vulcan2422, it's not. there are a lot of people out there that honestly believe you when you say "another variant!" like that, and it's kinda weird. not that i'm telling people how to collect their shit, cause i know a lot of people dig those kinds of mistakes... but i just don't get it at all.

AMAZING! Thanks man, I swear, this is one of the hardest Muggs to find. I've never once seen him in stores and I've seen most in stores before (with the exception of Venom and the new Indy series).

yeah, tough call. i personally would rather be safe and go ahead and get them while you're sure that you can. i could easily see some of the more popular characters (especially snake eyes) selling out fast and getting hard to find, while the shelves are filled with dukes. but given that we have a joe movie coming out in the summer, i could also see hasbro ramping up production and/or re-releasing things in hopes of banking on the movie-generated demand.

I know it's been said before, but watch the paint jobs on some of these new muggs. I was at Toys R us today (2 of which seemed incredibly well stocked on ... well, just about everything ... so might wanna check your own) and picked up the new Vader mugg.

Hopped in the car and looked at it only to realize it had an extreme lazy eye ... in the sense that one eye was nearly above the mouth. Luckily another Toys R Us had a less ... unique ... paint job. Just a word of warning ... the other figures in the line up looked good ... but I'm saving my pennies ...

Exactly what I was thinking, last Mugg I bought I didn't even open, that was weeks ago. I have almost all of them but at this point they are releasing a lot of garbage (newest Star Wars line, Clone Wars, last wave of Marvels, etc) and I really don't care to collect a bunch of stuff I really don't even want now.

these guys don't have street dates like video games or movies or things. they just kinda show up whenever hasbro gets around to shipping them out. i've heard they ship new stuff in the middle of the month, and it winds up in stores around the end of the target month... but i honestly can't say that i've noticed that trend myself.

the good news for gi joe muggs is that an online retailer (bbts) has already started shipping the next round of star wars muggs, and those weren't supposed to be out until december. and hasbro is shipping the next round of marvel muggs from their own site on 11/24. with both of these on or ahead of schedule, i'd imagine that we'll be seeing the joes soon. the bad news is that stuff usually appears in-hand on ebay before it finds its way to shelves... and that hasn't happened yet with anything gi joe.

:( call me a star wars geek, but i've really been loving the latest bunch of stuff, except for the new vader. tarkn is great, ackbar is the best (i often wave it around saying "it's a trap!") and the shadowtrooper is way better than i'd ever expected it to be. the same with the new marvel stuff... red skull is awesome and i'm really excited to get vision.

Opposite for me, every single store around here hasn't had anything new in MONTHS. Honestly out of TRU, Target & 3 Wal-Marts I haven't seen a single new Mugg. Same old stuff, Toys R Us has 5 Spider-Man and 5 Wolverine and it's been like that ever since I started collecting and I'm at the point where this hobby isn't even remotely fun anymore. I'll keep what I like and dump the rest on ebay or something. :/

Thing is, I'm not, I'm a "main characters" Star Wars fan and a very minimal Marvel fan, hell, I couldn't even tell you where Red Skull is from, same with the Shadowtrooper. Anyway, the only new Star Wars character that I like is Plo Koon and I don't even know who he is.

yeah... collecting these definitely isn't for you.

to collect a toy line, especially a star wars line, you have to be a BIG fan of the material. hasbro's star wars stuff, perhaps more than any other toy, is all about one-shot characters and fan favorites and things only an uber-geek would be able to enjoy. a casual fan (such as yourself?) can pick up stuff here and there, but to really COLLECT it, you gotta love it... all of it... even jar jar binks.

another good example... i also have a complete set of the simpsons world of springfield figures. this thing is over 200 figures total... and playsets! casual fans only cared about the family and a few of the more popular supporting characters, and they were all released a couple times over to appeal to that crowd. hell, a line of simpsons figures without, say, marge would just be incomplete and worthless. and i like all of my marges, but she was a given when the line started. i knew she'd be there. as a BIG simpsons fan, the stuff that's really exciting are the random one-shot figures i never expected to see made into a toy... like hank scorpio or frank grimes or lucy lawless as xena. if you missed that episode, you have no idea who the figure is. but as a fan, i LOVE it.

this is just a long, drawn-out way of saying... if you don't know who red skull is, you REALLY shouldn't be "collecting" a marvel line of anything. same with plo koon and star wars.

but you seem kinda frustrated by the fact that you have all these figures and now... don't want them. don't be. just be glad you're stopping now and not a year from now.

hang on to the ones you like, and stick around for the day that hasbro announces more that you'll like. just because you buy one, doesn't mean you have to "collect" them. :)

it's really not much effort catching up. i started just as the last star wars wave hit (anakin, dooku, rex and ventress) and managed to catch up, all muggs, in about a month. and i didn't buy a single one off of ebay or anything. i managed to find them all from b&m stores, online retailers, or trades with people on here.

with re-releases and the overall niche market that these guys fall into (part of the reason i'm thinking that so many people are bailing), it's pretty easy to jump in, even this late in the game.

yeah, i don't know what's up with iron man. i've only seen the wave at walmarts, and at first i had the same problem. i'd go places and find everyone but him. but i've since found one, and over the past few days have started seeing him at walmarts as well. and even then... it tends to be 2 or 3 each of skrulls, captains and visions... and 1 iron man.

keep checking walmarts, and if you haven't already and want to, buy up the rest of the wave. it'll force them to restock... hopefully this time with a case that has iron man in it.

cyclops is boring, but accurate! jean is downright ugly. loving sabretooth. and logan is perfect, but i hate the hat. not bad character choices. it woulda been nice to not have another wolverine and instead get an original character, but i'm happy with this.

bbts also put up pre-orders for wave 2 gi joe (just baroness and destro, with more re-releases of storm shadow and snake eyes) and wave 2 transformers (grimlock and starscream, with re-releases of optimus prime and bumblebee). they've got a pic of grimlock... it's kinda meh. doesn't really capture the feel of the character to me.

and... my short round and sallah arrived. i'm glad that we were able to get the figures and all, but i'm sorry, short round is one of the worst muggs, imo. every other mugg that has a hat, actually comes with the hat... indy, henry jones, sallah. for some reason, short round's cap is painted on. i knew this from the initial pics of him, but it looks worse in person. ugh.

Actually, don't give up quite yet ... this may have been a random, ymmv type thing but I was walking through Target last night and stumbled upon 2 Boba Fetts and 1 Jango Fett all mint in their boxes. I didn't pick them up since I got BF a long time ago and JF is like a repainted BF ... but it's still possible to stumble upon them. If you don't care about cost, I'd also recommend checking at your local Urban Outfitters, as they consistently seem to have everything ... only it's double the price.

Actually, don't give up quite yet ... this may have been a random, ymmv type thing but I was walking through Target last night and stumbled upon 2 Boba Fetts and 1 Jango Fett all mint in their boxes. I didn't pick them up since I got BF a long time ago and JF is like a repainted BF ... but it's still possible to stumble upon them.

Maybe Target is restocking some MMs. I also saw 2 Boba Fetts and 2 Jango Fetts at a Target yesterday. Also, saw Spiderman, the Thing and Doc Ock.

and no, the regular old red and yellow iron man isn't hard to find, at least not by me. he was one of the muggs recently re-released, so i've seen him at many walmarts over the past few weeks. the only iron man that's hard to get is the sdcc movie version, since it was a comic-con exclusive. you'd have to hit up ebay.

yes the legs, arms and head turn. i think if you get a MM of something they like its goo, but its not the most active toy, so depends on the kid.

they've put up all the sdcc exclusives now, but with 'graded' boxes for super collectors that need perfect boxes. the rarity of iron man, combined with the near-perfect box makes for the high price point.

On the way home from my parents after the holidays we passed some guys on the corner with KB Toys 50% off signs so I decided to stop. Picked up a Doc Ock, Anakin, Obi Wan, Asajj Ventris and Count Dooku all for half price. Pretty cool, the place was picked over I was glad to find any Muggs really. I picked up Wolverine at KBToys for $6 and then went to Kmart and found a gold mine of old MM

They had on the Marvel side as far as I can remember, Both Captain Americas, Skrull, Vision, Black Spidey, Silver Ironman.

But the Star Wars was where it was at. They had C3PO, Chewbacca, Obi Wan, Anakin, Jango Fett, Darth Maul w/ Shirt, Captain Rex, Mace Windu (ohhh boyy), Dooku, Asajj, Luke Skywalker, AND the original version of Darth Vader.

I didn't have too much cash with me so only picked up the original Captain America, Black Spidey, C3PO, Jango Fett, and the original Vader. My girlfriend had gotten me the new Vader without the mask, but now I have both versions of Vader!

I was debating on keeping the original Vader but I can not find Boba Fett anywhere...

rarity is kinda a weird thing. it all seems to be regional, and even then the re-releases have started to make them all kinda easier to find it seems. for example, original vader has been easy to find in some parts of the country and hard to find in others. i used to never see him, but in the past week, i've seen many original vaders at a few different targets... so now he's not hard to find... for me. for others, he's probably still nearly impossible.

so yeah... with a few exceptions, i really don't think any muggs are hard to find.

When I first saw the pic and your post, I thought that they had these for sale. I was like :shock:. Nice collection and the shelves look awesome. I have all my MMs stacked up on one shelf and the stack is like 6 high.

I found out that the shelf is not leveled because when I got to the 5th row, I noticed that the whole stack was leaning to one side. I just keep adding MMs and hope that we don't get an earthquake. :D

They had them marked 40 per shelf, but I talked the manager down to 20. The store near me is closing down Wednesday, and I would bet these will be super cheap, if not free. On top of that I scored some Tee shirts for a 1 each, and got my son a pair of starbury's, I know they kind of suck for some B-ball shoes but they are super cheap, for this basketball season for 2.95.

I stopped by a Kmart last night and found a Darth Revan. I passed since the box was kinda crushed and really scuffed up. This Kmart had all MMs priced at $13.49 except for the Indy MMs which were being "clearanced" at $10.

Even if the box would've been in good condition, I think I still would've passed on Darth Revan at $13.49.

I stopped at a TRU tonight after work. The guy told me they wouldn't have any new Muggs on the truck because the shelf count isn't low enough for them to have ordered new Muggs. I think he said there were currently 14 Marvel on the shelf w/ alotted space of 9. So they would only order more when they got down to 6 Marvel Muggs. SW was worse. 35 Muggs w/ 19 shelf space, to order when they get down to 15.

Exclusivity didn't matter, just shelf space and current stock. :(
