Mighty Muggs thread--pricing and locator

Saw a Dr Doom I almost got at Walmart today, As well as Lando, Optimus and Snake Eyes at Target, but I only got a 2nd Cairo Swordsman to customize (since I ready about it on the Mighty Muggs forums).

All $6 a piece.. my wife is going to paint over them and customize 'em.. :) (We have all of those already)

Passed on a ton of others.. the GI Joe and Transformers I'm not very interested in, and I need to keep myself from buying tons of these. Passed on a maskless Darth Vader, Darth Revan, Luke Skywalker, Hoth Han, Commander Cody, C-3POs, Bossk, etc.

Unfortunately, there are no Urban Outfitters around me.. even though I could have sworn I remember seeing some. Apparently not.. the closest is in King of Prussia, nearly two hours away. :O

So the $6 Indy's (or $4.20 if you bought them last week with 20% off toy clearance) are my best bet.. or the $5 and some change Cairo Swordsman from Walmart.com...

Does anyone know if the three Muggs in that Jedi vs. Sith pack on Walmart.com come packaged separately? Or is it a special all together package? $18 or so with tax and shipping is pretty tempting...

Have you tried the Times Square TRU? They usually have a huge array of Muggs for sale.

If you're feeling desperate and if money is of no concern, you could try hitting some Urban Outfitters. They sell Muggs for $20 a pop but they usually have all the hard to find ones.

I saw the complete Transformers set at Target today, was tempted to pick up Grimlock but I just couldn't get past the new $10.99 pricepoint either. I have to be more selective these days and when it comes down to Muggs or LEGOs, the LEGOs always get the pass because they're interactive and something I can pass down to my kids someday. Still haven't seen any of the past 2 waves of SW muggs, Bossk, Snow Trooper etc

Had some good mugg finds the past couple of days:

Han (first one), Maul (shirt and no shirt), Vader (masked), Boba Fett (bought him), Human Torch, and Ghost Rider. A bunch of stuff I rarely see, but not the ones I'm looking for. Never seen Boba before on the shelf. I've run out of Targets to search for Starscream at this point. Now I just have to wait.

Bah! Stopped by my local target (Wilsonville, OR) and as I'm approaching the TF muggs, I get all excited because I can see they have been restocked. Sure enough, they got Wave 2 in (along with left over Megatron and Soundwave from Wave 1) and I nab both Starscream and Grimlock, only to see that Grimlock's box is all beat up. These were just put out for crying out loud!!!!!

Ended up buying only Starscream. I'll have to check another Target after work for a minty Grimlock.

Now my Mugg collection stands at All the TF muggs except Grimlock, a Venom, Indy, and a Blank White that my gf gave me.

I don't know if anyone else noticed but the two TF Mighty Muggs I bought yesterday (Grimlock and Starscream) are already in the system at Target as NCF which means "Non-Continuing Forward". Looks like Target won't be carrying TF Mighty Muggs (at least Grimlock and Starscream) once their initial allotment runs out. Buy 'em while you can.

Fantastic mugg weekend here. I found the Star Wars stormtrooper at WalMart. The box was mangled and he was turned around, showing off the back of his head through the plastic, but I finally found him. He's been at the top of my list since I first started getting these. Then today I found Starscream at Target. The collection continues to grow.

Oh, and Transformer muggs are on sale for $8 each at Target right now.

So stopped at Target before work to find Starscream (no luck) but came across the $8 TF Muggs and they had 6 Bumblebee's and 1 Optimus. Picked up the Optimus and looked over at the GI Joe display. Tons of Dukes, didn't need them. SW Muggs were numerous dup's (Don't collect SW Muggs personally) But I take a gander at the Marvel Muggs and there in front of all the Iron Man and misc wave 4 & 5 Muggs is a Venom. I was shocked. I thought in Phoenix I would never happen upon a Venom. So picked him and Optimus up and in the morning going Mugg shopping with the wife. On a side note, I love how the Muggs are for 3+, cause my one year old loves his Dr. Doom and Soundwave Muggs. Gotta find Starscream, maybe Grimlock too.

I love "clearance" prices. When they jack the price up and "clearance" it by $5 to make it look like the sucker gets a deal. There's only two Urban outfitters by me and there 20 and 30 miles away as it is. Maybe I'll find Thor at a store someday. Picked up another Starscream at Target for the kid to play with. No, Prime isn't a 'movie' version, just the current Mugg painted metallic.

Unknown right now if each line will have an exclusive MM, but every line that had Muggs last year had an SDCC exclusive, so I think it's safe to assume that they will. Especially with the ease of producing exclusive Muggs ;)

I hear ya, this coming from a hardcore deadpool fan who has a couple custom Deadpool Muggs lol. But i mean they did do a Iron Man Movie version. So I'm pretty sure they would do a Movie version of Dead Pool and wolverine. But that's just my take on it really.

Bah, after returning my original 4 TF muggs to where I bought them initially (Megatron to TRU, $10.49; the rest to K-Mart, $12.99), I bought 3/4 from Target during the $7.99 sale as well as getting price-adjustments on the 2 new ones.

Unfortunately I couldn't find Soundwave during the sale. I still save $2 by returning the one I got from K-Mart. I check Target the other day, we restocked on TF muggs, and of course, they have 5/6, with no freaking Soundwave..

Gotta wait another week I guess.

Just to reiterate a fellow CAG's tip, if you are on the fence about buying Starscream or Grimlock at Target, make sure to purchase it! (Especially if Target is your only source of Muggs.)

I purchased a Starscream at my Target and the receipt read "NCF Transformers". This spells bad news since NCF pretty much means they'll stop restocking the shelves with these Muggs once their supplies are up.
I am not sure if Target will stop selling Transformers Muggs all together or just that particular wave though.

Here's more bad news about the future of Mighty Muggs from yodanews.com:

YN: A lot of people were sad to hear that the Mighty Muggs will be TRU Exclusives this fall, can you give us any more information on this? We heard from e-stores and Hasbro direct dealers that MM were a great seller. With a lot of collectors and kids not able to get to TRU in all areas will these also be sold on Hasbro's Website or TRU's site? Any chance they will come back to a broader release in 2010?

H: Despite fans of the format, Mighty Muggs seemed to appeal to a small but passionate minority of the overall Star Wars collecting audience compared to all our other Star Wars sub lines. There is no chance that Mighty Muggs, at least in the current size or format, will come back as a broader or national release. It is unknown whether TRU.com will be selling Mighty Muggs, but we'll pass on the encouragement. It will not be sold through HasbroToyShop.com.

I know it's sheer speculation at this point, but I'm just wondering if they might not be online simply because Hasbro seems to be lacking in support of the Muggs line. I've come to this conclusion from some of the articles on here that state the Muggs won't be carried on Hasbro.com in the future, etc. What do you guys think? Is shiny, metallic optimus gonna be tough to track down online ... I don't want to book a flight to SD for a Mugg and it's way late to stay anywhere decent for Comicon at this point ... hopefully he'll turn up along with the other exclusives online at some point.

Just to reiterate a fellow CAG's tip, if you are on the fence about buying Starscream or Grimlock at Target, make sure to purchase it! (Especially if Target is your only source of Muggs.)

I purchased a Starscream at my Target and the receipt read "NCF Transformers". This spells bad news since NCF pretty much means they'll stop restocking the shelves with these Muggs once their supplies are up.
I am not sure if Target will stop selling Transformers Muggs all together or just that particular wave though.

Went to Target yesterday to find some Muggs (that I don't have). SW Muggs were down to 2-3 of the Target specials, TF Muggs were 3 Bumblebees and an Optimus Prime, Marvel Muggs were plentiful were leftover Iron Man (classic), and a hulk or two. The kicker that got me was the GI Joe Muggs, there must have been 10 or so of the Duke Mugg. Maybe if my Target drops the price, I may buy one. Just thought it was funny.

I didn't realize these were cool little figurines until I saw them on Slickdeals, remembered this thread and found out they weren't mugs. Got Snake Eyes, Mola Ram, and Cairo Swordsman in stores on Saturday. Ordered Wolverine, Wicket, Indiana Jones and Teebo since then. I think they're my new addiction.

Anywho, Toys R Us by me has a pretty big selection and there's a Target that's pretty much been forgotten and has a few of the older ones (Thing) still. If anyone needs any, let me know and I can check for you.

Actually, in all seriousness, while the shiny paint job isn't entirely unique anymore, the box is, as far as I know, the only Mighty Mugg box that is entirely metallic looking on the outside as well, so it is somewhat unique. Trust me, if you were to stumble upon one at a decent price I doubt most folks would pass on it.

Your best bet is probably to try and sell sets, as the cost to ship them in bulk works out better than shipping individually ... plus you'll find there are quite a few individual muggs that no one wants to touch (*cough*silver surfer*cough*)

HT was the 2nd Mugg I bought. He's not the greatest, but I think the bright orange is kinda cool. I thought the style fit because might consider him to be flaming.

I would say Starscream and Destro (tied with Baroness) are currently the hardest to find ... imo

And no offense to the Silver Surfer lovers, I was speaking from personal experience (how cool would SS be if he looked like Destro's head) and yeah, Human Torch is another that seems to have a permanent residence on the shelves of Target ... that whole wave - Galactus, SS, HT didn't really seem to sell particularly well.

BTW was kind of surprised to see a Spider-man in good condition at the local Target today, don't see him around much anymore

Silver Surfer would look nice in that metallic silver color like Destro's head. Galactus is another favorite of mine as well. :)

I actually saw another Starscream and Grimlock this past Monday at Target, and for the first time ever, I managed to curb my impulse buying urges. My appeal for Muggs seem to be waning but, hopefully, the release of the Marvel Target exclusives will light a fire under me.

Then there was talk of everything becoming TRU exclusive, but then I've heard that amended to mean just the Star Wars part going TRU exclusive. I doubt anyone really knows what the real future of Muggs are. Best we can do is wait for them to show up in Singapore and then slowly creep across the US.

Earlier in the forum, someone said they'd used a different shade of red on the new wave of spidermans. This could be true on the newer Venoms as well.

Mine are now on top of my two bookshelves, which are in the corner of one of the rooms. I have 5 rows of 5 on one and the same on the other.

picked up dark hat indiana jones today for $4.80 ($6 - 20% off clearance toys) at k-mart. also got some indy adventure heroes for $2.80. and some my little ponies for $1.80 (i'm a girl, it's okay! been collecting them since i was a little kid :D) and a femi-robosapien mini (dunno, it was pretty cool looking) for $2-4 i forget. checked the star wars and marvel muggs but none were clearanced.

hoping target clearances some soon. they finally got a destro in today, really badass!

I personally find this style of vinyl way cooler, but they do deviate from the urban vinyl's that are based more on the artwork than the shape.

It would be great to see Mighty Muggs expand the line with more alternative comic characters but I doubt that's going to happen.
