Well I am thinking about going back to school and study Radiology. My friend is taking courses for it and he says that its fun, well I always wanted to be the medical field but I was wondering if he's not telling me the whole story, like its hard, boring, or low paying. :?

It's huge money and there's huge demand right now.. I know two-ish years ago is was the third most in demand medical field (behind Nurse Anasthetist and RNs). My fiance is about to graduate with her degree in Health Care Administration (with a dual major in business administration and a minor in marketing.. god she's alot smarter than me).. however, she keeps saying she wishes she had just done radiology.

Well I do not know a lot about the field but according to salary.com if you are a radioligist diagnostic. Which means you have a medical degree and 2-4 years experience the average pay is 226,000 - 316,000.
Damn good pay. But then again that is at least 8-10 years of schooling plus work experience.

My brother is a radiologist. He loves it and makes a ton of money. However, it is not something you "go take a few courses for", it is 8-10 years of med school and residency and will probably be the worst 10 years of your life. There is a payoff at the end, but don't think it is something you'll pick up on the side.

If you even have to ask that question, then your answer is no. Don't waste your time if it doesn't spark enthusiasm.

There's Radiologist and Radiology Tech.. most people go for the tech, the people that actually do the x-rays. It's good money and hugely in demand. It's also a normal 4 year program.
a friend of mine tried to go to a quick 2 year radiology school, so she could cash in on some of the "big Bank" after about 6 months, she realized that all thees hospitals didn't want to hire people with the kind of experience that she had, so she quit.

That is true, I forgot about the techs. You won't be making 200-300k by any means, but it is a decent paying job and a lot less school.

Hello, well the interest in the radiology field for me is high because my college is offering a two year program for a radiology associate degree and I qualify to receive financial aid. The reason I asked in this forum is because just to hear some opinons and stories on the field. At the moment I work in the graphic design field and it alright (pay is alright) but overall I find helping people out makes me a bit more happier. :D

I'm not in the field, but from what I've heard about the Allied Health careers, the associate degrees are worthless. Get a bachelor's.

Well the college I plan on going offers only the two year program and then you get job placement and hopefully I can get a job that helps me pay for my radiology bacelor degree. If not, my second idea is like my wife works for a major university I can have free tuition after we have been married four years (one month and a half we been married) or if shes been working their for five years (two years). Also the school offering the associate has a 99 percent placement. :)

If the school is not regionally accredited (not the one your wife works for) then it's not worth spending the money. I have an associates degree from a school that had a two-year program and job placement. The school no longer exists and I can't get ANY transfer credit for the work I did at the REAL college I attend now. All I have is a worthless piece of paper that no one values and $16,000 worth of Student Loans to pay off.
Do your research before you commit.

Well the school with the radiology degree is accredited and the credits would transfer into the university my wife works for and I qualify for financial aid too.
