**Heya. As mentioned before I work for this store. But we just dropped everything to 80%, and added a bunch of new stuff. Given how many people here enjoyed their previous scores I thought I'd pass on the new developments. Bunch of new graphic novels and toys added. Enjoy**
Hi all,
Well we're at Week 5 of the Summer Steals Sale (http://www.tfaw.com/offer/summersteals/?qt=cag_forsum5) and things have gone critical. Not only is EVERYTHING now marked at 80% off of retail, but because we can't leave well enough alone, we've added hundreds of new items to the sale.
That's right - hundreds of previously discounted items, and they're all marked at 80% off. There's no guarantee as to how long this deal is going last, and given how many items we've completely sold out of, there's no guarantee how long an item will remain in stock.
When an item is gone, its gone for good. So get yours now, before someone else does!
Cheers,
Andrew@TFAW

Nick and Dent Items have been handled and have minor dings, scratches, etc. but are still perfectly good as reading copies. In regard to statues and whatnot it means that the packaging has been scratched up, so if you're an 'in the box' collector, you're probably going to want to look for other options. But if you (like myself) actually take your toys, statues, etc. out of the box and play with them, then these are a great way to stock up on cool stuff at a fraction of the price. Hope that clears up any confusion.

I've ordered from them a few times in the past. They ship in boxes, if you only order 1 trade it comes in a cardboard mailer. Everything comes in plastic bags, if not factory sealed. They put the same size items in a bag together.
I've ordered the nick & Dent stuff before also, there where a couple of scratches on the spine in the lower area and a hard back I got had the problems on the bottom of the spine so when sitting on a shelf you can't see it. I ordered some nick & dents this time also.
Hope this helps.

I just bought the 80 precent off Oct 07 issue of Hobby Japan and the half off of the Nick and Dime Bubblegum Crisis Grand Mal comic.
All in total is 12 bucks with shipping, which to me that isnt bad. I basicly payed 2 bucks for shipping per item, which isnt too bad. Of course, i did the cheap shipping, so i sent them to my parents house. Should arrive about mid/end of august...

I would highly recommend reviewing our rating on BizRate.com to address any questions you might have about our reliability as a retailer. Your concern is a completely reasonable one in this day and age, and as an online business, I totally endorse the idea of knowing who you're dealing with.
As a matter of fact I would strongly encourage everyone to check for information and ratings on ANY AND EVERY business you consider entrusting information with online.
The nice thing about BizRate is that they are an outside service, that allows past customers to post opinions, reviews, praise, criticism, suggestions - whatever. It's great in the same way forums like CAG are great, in that you get feedback from real people and real experiences.
I mean, I could certainly blather on to you all day about our customer service, but I know that when I'm shopping I really would rather here what actual customers have to say... and not just listen to the guy I'm shopping from toot his own horn. :D

I just received my package: the one nick and dent item in my order, Civil War: Iron Man, is pretty much pristine. There's a tiny bend at the bottom corner that goes through half the book but it barely even creases the pages and it's literally less than half a centimeter wide. I had to hold the book up close just to catch what was wrong with it. I've seen books at Borders and Barnes & Noble that look much, much worse!

It can take 2-5 business days to process a shipment. Obviously we always try to get your order out as quickly as we possibly can, but sometimes it will take the full five days. After that, it's up to whatever sort of shipping options you specified.
As Rapsodist pointed out we are SLAMMED with business right now. Not only the Summer Steals Sale, but also a little get together called SDCC has made us very busy for some reason.

It really means a lot to me (and to everybody else here at the T to the FAW) to know we're doing right by you and everyone else who considers us worthy of their comic habit. I hope we can continue to be the people you go to when you want some comic nerdery. :)
And please folks, I've seen a lot of great stuff on this post about what we've done right. But I know as well as you do, that no one is perfect... so always feel free to chat me up here about the good and the bad.
I TRULY want to know how we can be of more use to you and serve you better. You can also find me on AIM as TFAWAndrew, or send me an e-mail at: andrewm@tfaw.com.
Are we perfect? Noooooooo. :D
Who is? But we take our commitment to you as a trust that we are obligated, and grateful, to fulfill. I know it sounds cheesy... but for real, let me know what I can do to make your comic purchases better.
If you can resist the urge to swear at me... great! But even if you can't, let me know. Thanks again to everyone for the kind words, for checking in for the Summer Steals sale, and for the trust you've shown in us in placing your orders.
All of this is truly appreciated.

But if you like comics and stuff, hey hey, I tend to pick out some mainstream and underground gems. I'd love to know what you think.

Hi Chris,
I would recommend picking up the TPB if this is your first time reading The Watchmen... with caveat. I would actually first and foremost encourage you to ask around amongst some of your friends and see if anyone has a copy of Absolute Watchmen you can borrow. Believe me, it is an AWESOME experience to read this story in the oversized print.
BUT, it is an EXPENSIVE experience as well. :) The TPB offers a much more affordable way to immerse yourself in the genius of Moore and Gibbons.
Regardless of the format you choose, it is the story that grips you (and haunts you) so believe me, you will not be let down by reading the TPB your first go round. Then if, like so many of us, you find yourself a total Watchmen addict you can always decide for yourself if it is worth it to you to pick up the hardcover, the Absolute, etc.
Oh and did I mention we just happen to sell the TPB version? :D
You can find it here (http://www.tfaw.com/Profile/Watchmen-TPB___226895/?qt_cag_watch).
I hope you enjoy it as much I have. I can honestly say that it is (in my mind) the benchmark for all feats of sequential storytelling that have followed. Let me know what you think!
Cheers,

Rapsodist,
Thank you. Truly.
It means a lot to me to know that people are happy with the way we treat them, and I'm grateful for your kind words. No matter what you do, you always hear a hundred more complaints (which is good, makes you work harder) than you do compliments. But it makes those compliments all the better when they come around.
I (and all of the other great people on our team that don't get to interact with you awesome folks) at TFAW honestly give a damn. I guess that's all I can really say. We've worked hard to get where we are, and we remind ourselves every day that none of that means a thing... if we aren't taking care of the people who trust us with their business. Namely, y'all.
So a big thanks right back at ya! Make you a deal... you all keep letting me know what we're doing right AND what we're doing wrong, and I'll keep making sure that we don't get lazy, and that we don't forget that we aren't entitled to your business. Matter of fact, we're lucky and privileged to have it. Thank you.

Anyone know if The Last Temptation is a good book?
It's an interesting book and, if you're a fan of either Neil Gaiman or Michael Zulli, one worth picking up. Originally a part of the Marvel Music line it is, in essence, the visual companion piece to the Alice Cooper concept album of the same name. Take a look at the cover here (http://www.tfaw.com/Profile/The-Last-Temptation-HC___189097/?qt=cag_last), and you'll note the similarity between the Showman and Cooper - which is decidedly intentional.
Personally I enjoyed it quite a bit, and thought the Black and White artwork was well done and appropriate to the story. In fairness, I'm also a bit of a metalhead and a big fan of Gaiman - and I work at TFAW. So my recommendation should probably be taken with a grain of salt. :D

It's possible that it is referring to the shipping status as pending, i.e. we're busy pulling it off the shelves. That can be a 2-5 day procedure, and given that yesterday was Wednesday (i.e. new comic day) the computers might be a little backlogged and catching up. I'd wait until tomorrow and if it hasn't cleared up give our Customer Service folks a ring or an e-mail. By the way, thanks OP! Pick up over $100 dollars worth of stuff for about $20!
The "Absolute Edition" of The Watchmen came out in 2005 and appears to be out of print. According to Wikipedia, another hardback edition will be coming out in November (presumably tying into the movie in some way). Best option: borrow your friend's Absolute Edition (it really is nice having the bigger pages and redone colors). Next option: buy the TPB. Way cheaper and the art and colors still won't disappoint.

TFAW definitely rocks. I've bought a lot of hardcovers from these sales since I discovered them last year. Now not only do I have a videogame backlog, I also have a graphic novel backlog.
Seriously though, you can't beat the prices. Service has always been phenomenal too. Nick & dents are usually in great condition too. The only "bad" one I got was a Marvel Teamup where the dust cover was a little warn, but you can't even find that book anymore. Dust jackets are meant to be beaten up anyway :)

Thanks for the help. I actually got a copy of the watchmen paperback from a friend and will give it a read. Is there anything on sale in this sale that someone thats never been into comics before maybe interested in. Movies that are comic oriented that I really like are Hellboy (which is one of my favorites), v for vendetta, Sin City, Of course Batman, and anything that is epic but is cheap. It seems like all my friends are getting into comics at the same time. Thanks for the help guys.
Well Chris,
Given those parameters one thing that immediately jumps to mind would be
Give Me Liberty (http://www.tfaw.com/Profile/Give-Me-Liberty-TPB-%28Dell-Edition%29___11711/?qt=cag_forsum)
Sin City (the movie) is an adaptation of Frank Miller's work, who also wrote Give Me Liberty. It happens to be one of my favorites of his, and has a ton of action. There is also a Batman vs. Tarzan (for real?) graphic novel in there that I've never read so I can't speak to its merits.
But at $3.20 for a Frank Miller TPB, it's kind of hard to go wrong. ;)
Cheers,

The Summer Steals sale officially ends today folks.
We've had a great time and thank you all for your support.
We're doing a new deal though for our comic fanatic friends and clearing out brand new copies of WATCHMEN (http://www.tfaw.com/Shops/Watchmen/?qt=cag_wm9) for only $9.99. As always there is a more long winded (and specific) post floating around this board. :D
Consider it a thank you for all your support, and an opportunity to read the original classic before the movie is released. Thanks again, and have a great weekend!
Cheers,
Andrew@TFAW

just recieve my comics today and they're all in great condition! you wouldn't even be able to tell that they are "nick and dent condition". only 1 out of my 10 comics had a small sticker residue left on it. i will probably be ordering from them again. :D

Same here. You really impressed me here, Andrew. I gave your link out to a bunch of my friends too and they placed some orders. So far they're happy, except one of their orders was delayed because of some inventory issue (guess they ran out of an item after he ordered it).
In any case, make sure to let us CAGs know when another crazy sale is on the way. We tend to squeal like giddy schoolgirls when there's a sale of this magnitude.

Got my order too. Insanely good service. Each book was either shrinkwrapped, bagged, or wrapped.
Grabbed the Give Me Liberty Ltd HC which seemed too good to be true. I don't know how those were still around! I'm a sucker for art/coffee table type books, so I got a few of those too. Can't say enough good things about TFAW.
