In a new story today from gameindustry.biz (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?section_name=pub&aid=4064) Acclaim is about at the end of it's rope, likely needing to declare bankruptcy, or file for bankruptcy protection within the next business day. According to the report, studio employees in Austin have been locked out due to unpaid rent, and studio employees have not been paid for the month of August.

A total lack of quality control will do that.

Good riddance. Ever since the days of the NES, Acclaim relied on making money through licenses, rather than quality games.
I currently own several Acclaim titles, most notably the Legends of Wrestling titles, as well as some older WWF titles (I'm a wrestling game nut, clearly).
I own these games, regrettably, for the sake of owning them. They are (with few exceptions) largely unplayable, chock full of bugs, and marginally improved over their predecessors. Goodbye Acclaim. I, for one, will not miss you.
myke.

I enjoyed Turok 1,2,3 on N64 as well as Forsaken. And NBA Jam was fun as back in the day. The rest of Acclaim's stuff was pretty forgettable, though. Good riddance.

And NBA Jam was fun as back in the day.
My mistake. They relied on licenses (I've loathed them since Terminator 2 and Total Recall on NES - which I think I still have) as well as ports. The SNES version of MKII was incredibly fun at the time.
Thank Midway for MK and NBA Jam. I've never tried Forsaken.
Anyone play their PS1 port of X-Men: COTA? Egads!
myke.

I think XG3 was fun maybe a little generic but fun.

Didn't Acclaim make Judge Dredd on the SNES? I loved that game.

XGRA was tons of fun and Gladiator wasn't that bad either, but besides those some awful stuff was released by them. Can't say i'm surprised they're out of here.

Game companies that produce crap usually go out of busines.
Remember 3DO?

That Total Recall game really could not have been worse.

Acclaim wasn't ALL crap... just most of it.

Acclaim was pretty good back in the N64/PS1 days. Not great, but pretty good. Turok 2 was quite good back in the day.
