as much as I barely like JRPGs, this looks good:

Any digital card game is a huge must for me... as long as it plays decent.
All of your stats would be 0, except for ego, which would be sky high.

Braid is a fun 2D, platforming puzzler. It's very mind-bend-y too.

So this pub games thing for Fable II give you money for your new game? Anything else? I should be getting it for free. If I can get a few extra codes I will pass them on to GGT that don't have access to the game for free.

Uhm... well with the Wii version, the controls were shit, and while the game supports 480p and widescreen, they took out some of the graphical effects (like the paper effect) and I think it actually looks blurrier, even in 480p.

Actually, I sold Maximo GtG when I got my hands on AoZ. It fixes all the annoying, fun-killing aspects of the original game. It's slightly easier (though still challenging compared to other games), has a reasonable camera, normal save system (after every level) and tighter controls (less random deaths due to Max not doing what you want him to).
I recommend Maximo 2 to any fans of Ratchet, Sly, Jak and/or the classic Ghosts and Goblins games.

Didn't someone mention getting a KOS-MOS figure in a previous GGT? This one (http://www.hlj.com/hlj_gallery2/v/wonfest/2008summer2/DSC_3688.jpg.html) was shown at Wonder Festival. Not anything that I'd get, but I've never seen hair done like that for a PVC statue... it's pretty cool.

1. Braid is sweet but not 1200 points sweet (already stated 1000 times).
2. Fable 2 LE looks amazing. In-game content and all that other shit seem to make it really be worth it. I'll get it as long as the GGT promises not to drop into my world and kill my sons.
3. I keep getting calls about my PS3. I think I'm going to try and sell it for $500 with MLB 08 The Show and Motorstorm only (No Motorstorm or Socom 3). Then I'll get a dedicated Blu-ray player for $150-200. (I was thinking about an HD-DVD Add-on for my 360 but 95% of the movies I would want for it are/will be available on Blu-ray plus all these new releases like Wall-E, Dark Knight, etc. I'm going to want on the Blue)
Selling my PS3 is great because I hardly ever play it and by selling it for $500 and buying a BRD player for $150-200 I have almost $300 to drop on Blus I want :)
4. I think I'm going to buy SoR2 on XBLA. I played the trial with my Hori EX2 and it plays amazing, and the GGT recommendations are helping too.

Dark Sector is certainly a budget title. It is fun and has voices from EDF2017. That is a big plus. But it is going back to GameStop. I would rather buy some other game or anime. Time to go watch what I do every time I walk. Dragon Ballz. :D

I'm actually a chameleon ;)Oh cool! I have a family of (I think) anoles (sp??) that have made a home in a bag of mulch by my porch a few years ago. It looks crummy having it sitting there all this time, but they're very sweet (I named the big one Azalea and the little ones Rose and Rhodo) and I refuse to destroy their home. They keep me company when I'm out in my gardens.

The more I think about it, the more I realize I can't justify spending 1100 bucks on a laptop just so I'll be able to play Diablo. Right now I'm looking at getting a Studio, that will run me about 750. It at least has a dedicated GPU, so I'll be able to play TF2 and WoW again. God dammit I hate the fact that I need to save for a car.
Aaaaaaaaaaaand onto Braid.
I downloaded the trial a few minutes ago, and though I'll get yelled at for saying this, I didn't even finish it. Loved the music, adored the art style, but had zero fun. I guess it's just not my type of game. :(

OK. All I care about is if the BR loads quick and I can watch the movie with the audio being Dolby Digital 5.1 output via optical to my Logitech Z-5500's.
If a standalone is profile 1.0 or 1.1 it can still play any disc that is out or will ever come out right? I don't care about shooting my friends over the internet while we both watch Alien vs. Predator and features of the like.

Anyone who has not played the PS2 version will find nothing graphically wrong with the game, and the controls are fine. Only issue I have is stringing together combos which almost seems to be a game design issue... whether you're flicking the remote or hitting a button, the timing is kinda wonky.
I hope Capcom isn't expecting Okami Wii to sell anymore now that they're rereleasing it for half the price.

Speaking of game-related figures, my Ibuki came in today! I'm trying to limit my toy/figure purchases due to cost and space considerations, but I'm really hoping HLJ will put up the RAH Chun Li figure up soon. Yes, you can game a little with that setup, but that one is primarily designed for multimedia. If the system memory is max'd, it should be fine for the newer Blizzard stuff. WoW for example does better the more memory you give it.

But, if you have the choice of either (which everyone should, who doesn't have access to a PS2?), the best version is the PS2 version.I dunno. If you look at where Nintendo appears to be targeting their new audience, namely non-gamers all the way up the scale to casual gamers , if they're hitting their mark, perhaps a good percentage of wii owners don't also own a ps2.
That would be interesting to find out, what percentage of Wii owners have other consoles in their home.
By the way, I thought I read that the SCIV premium editions are sold out everywhere. My local BBGR (who STILL didn't have my pre-order of FFIV... so I dropped that pre-order and finally picked up TWEWY) had two Premiums for the triple, and one for the RRoD. Does anyone need one? Think he said they're $80.

Read my most recent blog post for my opinions on Ninja Gaiden 2, but I basically think it's a far inferior game to the original. Here's hoping we get a revised PS3 port/360 enhanced edition. The last few chapters are just fucking awful in NG2. And I pretty much only enjoyed one boss fight early in the game.

Do you honestly believe you hold anything even close to the majority opinion on this? You ask the latter question in way that makes me believe you actually do. And no, I don't think the Wii remote/nunchuck is even close to comfortable. The DS2/DS3 is the most comfortable controller out there. Though I have to say the 360 controller isn't bad either.

Real men get huge plastic guns! I couldn't help myself. I also have a couple of months to talk myself out of it. Or sell my Archos 605 WiFi and get it.
I wish the DS2/3 had the same triggers as the 360 pad. I dunno if that'd be the perfect design, but I'd be happy with that.
The Wiimote/Nunchuck combo would be better if the nunchuck wasn't tethered to the Wiimote. It's still a fatiguing interface to use though.

I "played" a little more Xenosaga. I'm about 7 hours in, and I think I've spent over half of those hours watching cutscenes. But the story is pretty interesting so at least I'm entertained.

 at yous giys!
what other games have been announced by Platinum Games? just those two right?
Infinite Line for DS.
Hifumi Kouno: Hello everyone, I am the director and game designer over at Nude Maker, Hifumi Kouno. And while our company is called Nude Maker, I decided to come clothed today. The title I would like to speak to you about is Infinite Line, a title that is heavily influenced by Arthur C. Clarke's Childhood's End. This is a science fiction RPG. Players will become captain of their own ship and travel the cosmos, just like Captain Kirk of Star Trek.
There are two key concepts in this title. The first concept is a highly customizable spaceship. We have very intelligent mecha designers working on the designs of these spaceships, we have prepared over 150 differently designed models.
The innards of these spaceships are build modularly, so you can place the bridge, the engineering room, and the control room as you see fit. We wanted to create a large and expansive world. Players can play a deep and engaging story that takes place across two entire galaxies. In playing through the story, across vast space, the player will discover what it means to be human in this vast emptiness.
And while the DS is a very small machine, we have managed to fit a vast and expansive world into this very small machine. Unfortunately we are only able to show you these placeholder images. Actually, back home in our studio, we have prepared graphics that will blow you away, you will never believe we can get these on the DS.

Same here. Especially for FPS games I hate having the sticks side by side. Dual shock is also just too small (and my hands aren't even that big). DS is an ok controller, but I definitely vastly prefer the 360 controllers--just wish they had a good d-pad.
Wiimote Nun-chuck was comfy, but just doesn't have enough buttons (see having to use the tiny =/- buttons for Metroid Prime 3) to handle full fledged traditional games like FPS, action, fighting etc. that use a lot of buttons. Works well for the simpler, casual games, but I'm not into that type of stuff.

Tower's going out of business was a big missed opportunity for me... just couldn't get around to hitting up any of their stores before they all shut down, for whatever reason.

If you liked DiRT, I think you will like GRiD too.
The driving mechanics are similar, with more of a floaty, fast, arcade feel, but the physics and damage model are advanced, so overall gameplay is somewhere in the middle of Forza2 and NFS, IMO. This balance allows you to race however you want, taking the racing and breaking lines like a GT type game, or powersliding into corners.
As for damage, you can't get away with consistent car blocking (looking at you GT)--take too much, and the car becomes significantly more difficult to control. And a really good crash means the race is over. The way the AI works combined with the damage model means completely random pileups and related mayhem that make each race unique. It's exciting, but not as unforgiving as it sounds because you can "rewind" from the point of the crash as kind of a mulligan, and can do that actually at any point in the game (a limited amount of times based on difficulty chosen). This is awesome if you want to correct your approach to that one last turn that cost you a race, but there are prize money penalties and such, and at least for me personally, I'd rather just restart the game, learn the track, and win clean, if possible.
The career mode is like DiRT's unlock system, but with the added layer of "Driver Offers" where you can complete in challenges for cash and reputation points to buy cars and get you into the actual events. There's tons of events and offers to go through, so I think I'll be playing this for a good long while (I haven't even finished Forza 2 myself!).
Not sure about multiplayer, as I've yet to try it, but these are real-time races, not DiRT's time trial-only stuff, so I figure it's already better in that respect.
Graphics are tight, sound is thumpin', and presentation is slick. There's a significant voice-over track for names and it's cool to hear the female announcer speak as if she's really talking to you, a nice touch.
Overall, GRiD is my fave racing game right now. I just wish the PS3 triggers weren't so mushy.

Hey GGT, Captain Rainbow is awesome.
Oh, and weirdest news of the day?
Eurogamer (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=208483)
BioWare is considering doing DS versions of Mass Effect, Jade Empire, and Dragon Age, plus a couple of others.
Speaking exclusively to Eurogamer Germany (http://www.eurogamer.de/article.php?article_id=208349), Miles Holmes, lead designer of Sonic Chronicles, said the developer was looking at "basically anything that reinforces the franchises".
"I tell you which one I would want. I want the Mass Effect one," said Holmes, no relation to Sherlock.
"We have a lot of big plans for Mass Effect. Having a DS version would be an awesome way to keep interest alive and keep it going in addition to [Mass Effect 2]."
Holmes said the overall goal of the handheld team is to reinforce major title releases, and at full capacity will work on up-to three projects at once.
Sonic Chronicles, due out on 26th September, is the DS game from BioWare. Holmes talked of the game as a way to get the handheld division off the ground.
His comments echo those of fellow Sonic Chronicles team member Mark Darrah, who recently revealed (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=157787) BioWare was looking into PSP and Wii development as a way to "broaden our portfolio".
BioWare was bought by mega-publisher EA last October.
