I've been watching 1UP video reviews on my brother's iPod video which I borrowed and bring to work. I missed out on a lot of good games this year because I didn't really follow gaming from last summer to this summer that much.

DMK's comments where just his typical spouting off about next gen stuff he knows nothing about since he refuses to go next gen crap.

Most online games, especially FPS, have very good single player modes as well IMO. Case in point, Gears of War. Probably my favorite single player/local co-op game of this generation so far. Having a huge online following didn't hurt it's single player at all.

Only thing I could see for most of these games like Gears, CoD4, Halo 3 etc. is that the single player is shorter than in older FPS games. That's a fair criticism. I don't mind as I prefer games to be no longer than 10 or so hours for the most part these days--granted most of those are shorter.

Replay value has to be factored in. I'm on my 5th campain in Gears and I seldom ever replay games. Played through in co-op Casual and Hardcore at a buddies when it first came out as I didn't have a 360 back then. I picked it up late spring and played through in solo on casual, and in co-op on hardcore and I'm slogging through insane in co-op with a buddy still.

So, my long winded point is that DMKs "online is killing single player gaming" is unfounded. Most of these games are the best of both worlds. Grreat (if a bit shorter) single player along with robust online modes to add replay value for those that enjoy both single player and online multiplayer.

I've been doing fine wih the standard HDD so far. Still got 9GB-ish left, with about 14-15 perma-saved XBLA games. Seems to be enough to do demos and keep up with game patches ATM.

Edit: I'm most OOS with my Wii and PS3 storage is scary because of all the required/highly recommended HDD installs. Thank god Sony made the HDD user-swappable. My 320GB for PS3 is on the way...

Well, to MS's credit, the full game installs are optional. Unless you DL xbox classic titles, but I personally am not doing that.

The RB DLC DLs are pretty small, and I'm not into indie bands much, which seem to comprise the bulk of the DLC so far.

I do want to avoid upgrading as the 360 HDD is mad expensive for what you get.

It's not just load times, it's about my 360 not sounding like I'm vacuuming in my room. When I'm playing Gears 2 online all winter it will be nice to have a silent 360 for the first time in 3 years.

edit: Someone is willing to buy my PS3 for $500 cash. It's a 60GB with one controller (SIXAXIS), MLB 08 The Show, Ratchet, Motorstorm, and Socom 3.

I bought the PS3 for $500 last August. Motorstorm was $3 at Target, I traded 2 out of 5 of my free Blu-rays for Ratchet, MLB 08 The Show was full retail (:cry:) and Socom 3 my friend gave to me. I almost broke even.

Now to rid myself of those pesky Blu-rays.

It's a great puzzle game with nice graphics. story is kinda pretentious in that "omg i am making an artsy game" way. now to explain myself--it's not a bash on artsy games, i love 'em, but something about the story seems to be trying too hard for that emotional response. Like the game expects you to be in tears or you have no heart or some shit. :lol:

SoR3 was decent but the terrible music ruined what could've been a game almost on par with 2. As it stands, SoR2 is, in my opinion, the best beat-em-up ever made even in the face of games like D&D and AVP.

I kind of feel the same way. While I really liked the 1st Fable, I got the game when it was $20. And I'm not sure if I would have enjoyed it as much if I paid full price for the game.

No, unfortunately. The the PnC Kit is only for powering. It doesn't rely data, which is why when it's plugged into the 360, it's still a wireless connection.

One of the better skills in the game. Weapon Guard level 2 if I remember correctly. Again, you'll end up paying 800 points a piece for them if they go up. No doubt about it.

That said, I don't really care as I don't come to forums to chit chat with random people about random shit anyway, and would hate to see the GGT get too off topic. I was just saying that was the mistake. There's a general gaming forum, and the Off Topic forum clearly says no gaming discussion.

1) I enjoyed MUA and I like Forza2.
2) Fable2 LE looks soooo tempting for the in-game content...but I have the regular on pre-order cheap. >_<
3) I played the Braid demo last night, and I like it! I would get it w/o hesitation for 800pts. I will need to see if Castle Crashers will be 1200 or more and if that's any good before committing to the full Braid.
4) As tired as some higher ups may be of whatever intermittent shenanigans go on here, I'm equally tired of having to rehash the ne'er-do-well activities of a few bad apples in GGT over and over. I'd like to respectfully ask that if a mod or mods have problems with individual GGT participants, please keep that offline. I mean, it really kills the mood of reading this thread when comments like that show up when people are actually behaving.

I don't think you really even need to upgrade to the 2.26.

And I think I'll be getting this now if the reviews say battery life is good. I don't want to risk the GPU failures of the 8 series in the XPS.
EDIT: Battery life is really meh, and 2 hours and 45 mintues with wifi on. I guess I could always get a 9 cell later on.
