The Microcenter ad has an offer where you get a free X-box system if you buy a video projector, priced at $1800 (after a $100 rebate).

Not exactly a "cheap" ass deal, but a deal nonetheless. Maybe you could bring the projector somewhere and get $1800 store credit!

Hey, look at it this way... if you happen to be in the market for an $1800 video projector, then this is the deal for you!! Yeah!!

I have a buddy who set up an Xbox to a projector. He was away on a company retreat and they borrowed one of the company projectors and plugged the Xbox into it. He said it was the best gaming experience he's ever had (although his boss didn't seem to appreciate it). If you've got the money, it's sure to be a worthwhile purchase. I know I'd love to get one.

Gaming on projectors is fun, my brother has one for work that we have used. It made Rogue Squadran an awesome game.

I was planning on sneaking into a classroom with some friends at my college one night and hooking my Dreamcast up to the projector. But unfortunately I never got around to it. Ah, carpe diem indeed...

Whenever I get my own house, I want to make sure I clear space for a big, white wall.

Ha ha, I can just see the return lines at Wal-Mart now. "Umm, I got this from my grandmother as a present. She lives in a different state and didn't give me the receipt. Oh...and these other two projectors, they were presents from my other two grandma's."

Several years ago, I had a job which provided access to video projectors. I "borrowed" one for a few months and played some PSX and watched some Tyson fights on it....pretty fun (and disorienting).

It's weird playing NHL on it because the guys are almost live size, if you have a big enough wall.

Sorry for the stupid question, but do you project the image onto a blank wall, or do you have to buy a screen too? Is the quality of these projectors all that sharp?

Or you could just buy a high end digital light projector for $1,100 USD and get an Xbox for $180 USD.

I work at the University computing services helpdesk dealie here, and I have to borrow one of these for a presentation Friday, so I'm keeping it over the weekend to play some XBOX on. I've done it before with a buddy's PS2, it's pretty rad. You can project just onto a wall, it's fine (as long as the wall doesn't have a whole bunch of crap hanging on it).

The higher end projects are very HQ. You wouldn't notice the difference between, say, a computer monitor, and the projection picture. Ok, well, a little difference probably, but they are nice.

When I had 3 fabulous months at a radical, cutting edge "tech company" back in the day, our game room had a Dreamcast hooked up to a big ol' digital projector. It ruled. The best thing about that job was playing "Re-Volt" and "Vigilante 8" on that thing - and those aren't even great games. I wish I had one at home.
