View Full Version : Viewtiful Joe: PS2 or GCN?

I've got the cube version, and I'm wondering which version is better. Should I trade in or sell my cube copy for Dante in PS2 VJ? Or should I stick with better graphics and controls on mah cube (controls = imported hori d-pad)?
Please only respond to this thread if you have played BOTH versions.

I've played both, and I would stick with the GC version, just because the layout of the GC buttons work so well for this game. When you're constantly switching between jumps, punches, and kicks, the closeness of the GCs buttons makes for a better experience. I checked out the PS2 version and found more delay time in moving my thumb around the pad trying to make combos.
Graphically, the PS2 version looks REALLY close to the GC version, almost identical. I would say that the PS2 version just doesn't look as bright or as vibrant as the GC version, like the color was a little washed out.
Just my 2 cents.

PS2 version does have Dante though. That's enough reason for me to get the PS2 version over the GC version.

I have not played both versions, but Gamespot says that the GCN version is the best

If you already have it, why bother? Do you really think playing as Dante is worth another $30? If you didn't have it, this choice would be harder.

I'd just recommend renting the game (although dante is completely different from joe, he doesn't fit into the game as well IMO)

The PS2 version is $30 and the GC version is $20.

Meh... Who gives a feckin shet abot dante. I heard dante was the same feckin thing as joe just different skin.

Still though, if you already have the GC version why in the feckin hell would you go out and buy the one for ps2?.... just becasue of DANTE?!?! If your a DIE HARD FAN of vietiful joe than go for it! But man! its like payin 30 dollars just for an extra special "dante" character. Just wait till vietiful joe2 comes out for GC in a little bit.

For the record I bought the PS2 version the day it came out cuz i loved the game when i tried it at a Gamecube Kiosk, but alas, I haveth not a gamecube.
This was a freakin dream for me

LOL I relize that and I was gonna say that, he jus looks good in my sig..
But Im trying to point out in the video game, Im dont have anything against the art, just the conecept in the game only on ps2, they just want you to buy it for both, but also have it available to the people who own a ps2..

VJ 2 is coming for ps2 at the same time or earlier than GC i believe.

If you already have the GCN version and want to play as Danten do like some other mentioned and just rent the PS2 one, or if you really want it, wait for the squels to hit and the price of the PS2 version will likely drop. However, for those that don't have a GCN I highly suggest they go out and get V. Joe for the PS2 ASAP.
