A lot of times in music, for whatever reason, you'll see songs and riffs that sound strikingly similar. I know every thing's been done, but come on, what are the odds that you'd get the same melody? Here's a few videos. Note: some of these seem to obviously be covers, but sometimes people just straight up steal without giving credit.

Man, some songs CAN be blatant ripoffs, but you can only do so much with chord progressions.
Most of the songs in the first video are just opening riffs, and what really makes the difference is the melodies and vocal structures which are always VERY different from each other.

That Greenday/Semisonic/Better Than Ezra comparison was just idiotic, but I will give them credit for the No Doubt song that was exact.
