I've been playing a bit less Uncharted since I have 43 trophies in it now (still playing it again on Hard though), and I've been deferring a bit to my rental, Burnout Paradise. I've maybe played it an hour or so. It seems enjoyable, but a few things I don't get. On the PS3 version you earn stuff (like it says 6 of 60 really small or something like that) and I don't know how to check my progress on those. I've done maybe 6% of the game so far.

I'm kinda mad that the special store cars require me to beat a certain amount of events to use them. Listen, if you told me I got a special car for buying it there, I should be able to use it right away, damnit! Also, I don't know how to check out this new stuff from previous updates that were implemented. Maybe it's cuz I never played it before hand, but I just don't get how I'm supposed to use that stuff.

Coincidentally, those are the three I'm interested in. Incoming useless backstory: When I was a kid, my dad bought an N64 at launch, and I got one later, but most of the games we had were his. Later on in life, when parents got divorced, he took his N64/all of his games with him and ended up selling them all. :hot: I haven't played either Banjo or DK64 in like, 6 yeas.

I have made no story progress in TWEWY. Just buying everything I can and leveling my pins. I think I am like level almost 40 on the 3rd day of the second week. I am probably power leveling way too much. Oh well.
Nah, you aren't. I also spent a lot of time leveling pins rather than progressing through the story and found some later bosses rather challenging (it also helped that I frequently adjusted my level to be 15-30 levels below whatever my current max one was. More pins is good!).

Played more FFVII today and discovered something unusual. I bought the villa in Costa del Sol when Cid was my party leader, but I'm not able to use the house at all (to restore HP/MP). This is the earliest point in the game I've ever bought the villa at, so I was kind of startled by this. If it only works with Cloud as party leader, then why'd the game let me buy the house as Cid?

I played like 12 hours of Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn this weekend, pretty awesome.

For some reason, this is the only game series I'm able to get into better on a console than a handheld. The GBA FEs just didn't do it for me after playing Path of Radiance, and this one's back to greatness. Hoping they'll put a second one out on the Wii that uses the pointer.

Don't have a clue how the support system works yet, but I guess I'll figure that out with time. Or not.

On the PS3 version you earn stuff (like it says 6 of 60 really small or something like that) and I don't know how to check my progress on those. I've done maybe 6% of the game so far.
They're called Burnout Rewards, check around the menu, I think you have to hit square on one of the screens.
I'm kinda mad that the special store cars require me to beat a certain amount of events to use them. Listen, if you told me I got a special car for buying it there, I should be able to use it right away, damnit!
I think the store cars are too fast, which would make the early races too easy. I don't think you're missing much.

Finished Heavenly Sizzle tonight, great game. Has a couple bad boss fights, but at least it doesn't have God of War syndrome. I was getting my ass kicked by the final boss, until I started doing the opposite of what the FAQ's told me to do. I loved bullet-timing arrows and cannon balls.

Next up is TWEWY, since I'm dog-sitting all week. Fun!

It's minor stuff. There's a few minor instances of slowdown in the PS3 version (it's more prominent on some stages than others), and there's a bit more aliasing in the PS3 version. Markman said something about hitboxes in the PS3 version maybe being a bit off, too, though you'd have to ask him for the deetz.

TubeTV is the best application ever. It can take pretty much any video off of any website (except for some like hulu.com :cry:) and saves them straight into iPod format.

So fucking awesome and convenient for me to get videos on the iPod Video for the subway/train.

Mega Man, Samurai Shodown II, and Ys were supposed to come out (according to Capcom, SNK, and Hudson), and Ninty releases Splatterhouse II and the Master System version of Sonic instead -_-

Anyway, turns out this week is Star Parodier and Break In. And the first episode of the Strong Bad game on Wiiware.

It's not a bad game, just no where near up to par of the original Yoshi's Island. The difficulty however has been ramped up quite a bit, so it's not a cakewalk like NSMB.

I was looking forward to Bionic Commando. But without online co-op, what it the point when I have a perfectly good copy for my NES?

Hmm.... it's pretty freakin' gay that the PC version of Bionic Commando Rearmed is $15 on PC when it's $10 on consoles, but I'll pay that for the better graphics, I suppose. I'm glad it's available somewhere other than Steam, though I'm gonna see if Capcom plans on letting people buy it directly from them, since I don't like these 3rd parties who whore out downloadable games.

I played like 12 hours of Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn this weekend, pretty awesome.

For some reason, this is the only game series I'm able to get into better on a console than a handheld. The GBA FEs just didn't do it for me after playing Path of Radiance, and this one's back to greatness. Hoping they'll put a second one out on the Wii that uses the pointer.

Must be a matter of which you play first. Not sure what's so different about them either way, perhaps something in the presentation.

I agree. The handheld ones are far superior.

The only two FE games I've played are Path of Radiance and Sacred Stones, and while I loved the presentation on the Cube game better, in the GBA game I loved being able to level up my guys in the temples and the wandering monsters.

1up show has a good overview of Bionic Commando and how co-op changes the dynamics of the game drastically. it's going to be so good and so far the best soundtrack of the year. I don't know how many times I have to promote it for people to listen to it.
