Well we now know that GH WT and RB2 will be fully compatible with eachother meaning you can buy the full set of one and use it on the other. So which if either will you be picking up the big bundle package for?

Personally im leaning Guitar Hero since their controllers have been better so far and the track list looks better.....but RB2 tempts me since it has a few of my fav songs on it.

I already have Rock Band 1, so I'm just going to get the RB 2 game itself. I'd like to import the songs from the first game, so it's a no-brainer for me.

I'm may end up getting both. I'll pick up GH:WT's kit cause the drums look incredibly cool, but RB blows away GH when it comes to the amount of songs and selections.

Game only for both. Plus the stand-alone drums from GH, as long as they work with RB (I don't have any drums yet).

Rock Band 2. I'll probably just skip GH until the price goes down on it. I'll only need the game since I'll be using RB2 stuff.

Im wondering this same thing. I never got RB1 and would like to play it. We know that GHWT is compatible with RB2 and RB2 is with RB1 and GHWT.....but is GHWT with RB1?

Guitar Hero. I like challenging songs.

I'm going to go with Rock Band 2 because Harmonix has had time to try and fix what's wrong with the drums and are allowing us to import nearly all the songs off Rock Band 1, the downloaded content, and we get 20 free songs to download. Guitar Hero was forced to add in drums, otherwise Rock Band would wreck them in sales again. Plus, the sliding fingers on the guitar looks pointless.

I'm leaning towards the GHWT as my pickup first although I'll probably own them both eventually. If they make it so that my RB1 drums will work with everything, and my GH3 guitar works with everything I will buy both game only, but GHWT full set otherwise.

Unless my Rock Ban 1 drum set breaks, then Ill get the GH set

Wow, so they are cross compatible? Awesome.

In that case, I'll wait to see which drumset gets reviewed better, but most likely I'll buy the GH:WT set because I like their guitars more. RB2 would be game only

Ya its been confirmed. However I have yet to hear anything about GH WT working with RB1 which makes me a little worried. However IMO GH WT's track list just kicks Rockband 2's ass. I like alot of the songs better but I also love the variety they put in the game. Stuff like Micheal Jacksons beat it is really cool to have in there but hearing this song really put me over the top(should piss of rock purists though).

RB2 entire set. I own RB1, but think RB deserves my money. i want the new drum set and wireless guitar. I may look at the GHWT game disc alone. I don't like Activisions history of downloadable content so i don't have any faith that they'll do it right now.

Rock Band only, I already have a bunch of content and the first game, I don't need that many music games. If it wasn't for the fact that there'll be a few updates and the old songs can be imported into the game, I wouldn't bother. Also, I really hope that importing a song from RB1 to RB2 doesn't mean that the DLC will no longer be playable in RB1, because that would blow. There are songs on the RB1 disk I'll still want to be playing.

If I pick up either it would be just the game only version of GH. I have no desire to have the other plastic instruments cluttering up my house.

Odds are I won't buy either though as I haven't touched GHIII much lately so I think I'm pretty sick of the series. I was never huge into it anyway. Working on 5 starring songs on medium was as far as my skill level ever got with the first 3 GH games.

I'll be picking up RB2. I don't have RB1 so getting RB2 with better instruments and then finding a used disc-only copy of RB1 to get all of the old songs into RB2 will be the best deal for me.

I'm so very sorry...

As for me, probably get Rock Band 2 game alone along with the drums so I can try them out (and put the cymbals and such on). Guitar Hero:WT I'll probably just buy the whole set so I can give that a better shot, though I got to say the addition of one more note to hit on drums compared to Rock Band I know is already going to confuse me.

There's no word on that just yet, though I know Sony's working on getting the RB and GH instruments that are already out into the fold for the PS3 RB, GHIII, and GHA. I don't think I've seen MS say anything about getting the RB instruments compatible with all of the other games, but if the RB2 instruments will be able to work, there's a chance the originals could work, as well. You can check the latest compatibility chart on Joystiq for a more clear picture of where everything's at at the moment:

Link? The only one I've seen being mentioned is this one (http://gamerscoreblog.com/team/archive/2008/08/19/560611.aspx) that clearly says:

All the instruments from Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero: World Tour, and Rock Revolution will be cross-compatible.

With no mention of Rock Band, Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero III, and Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and their instruments.

Of course people do, otherwise they wouldn't be making sure the guitars are compatible with the upcoming games. I've only heard a "maybe (http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/08/gh-aerosmith-compatibility-poll-results-are-inconclusive/)" as far as RB guitars on Aerosmith are concerned.

Quit changing your claims from "every instrument will work with every game" to "some will" to "Nobody uses the instruments that don't work."

Every instrument needs to work with every game and that's it.

I keep hearing stuff like this but I seriously think its just from RB fanboys and people that hate popular music. I mean since neversoft took over they have expanded and made the gameplay better. They have added larger name bands to the game. They have made all the songs original recordings not impersonators singing the songs. And the new one takes all those improvments and now lets you create not only your own charcter and guitars but also your own damn songs.

Whats to complain about?

With 3? Over-charting, poor interface, lack of DLC, single instrument focus. Possibly first three again with WT, plus no BC. However, they do deserve credit, they've got some great songs in 3/WT. I just greatly prefer RB's feel and DLC.

The Rock Band 2 game is the only for-sure.

I really want that guitar with the auto-calibrate tool, but I'm concerned about the strum bar status. Besides the strum bar though I'll take the RB guitar easily...I've had nothing but trouble with my wireless Les Paul.

Between the two games, drums are a wash since I'm a mediocre drummer. My Rock Band 1 set works fine, I don't see any reason to upgrade to either game's newer drums.

GH:WT game only may be an option, but I'm leaning towards no. Rock Band constantly comes out with new stuff so I'm never feeling the urge to get more songs by buying more games.

I find it ironic you bring that up, since if I recall correctly you're the one who made that topic about masturbating like 30-40 times a day AKA thanks for scaring me indefinetly.

I'm kinda getting hesitant to buy GH:WT now simply because the setlist so far has nothing that gets me as excited as RB2. Like it feels majority are bands that I say "meh" to. That and they aren't really hyping it up (to me at least) with it being two months away compared to RB2...

Suggesting that the "RB/GH" DLC is the same is asinine. Rock Band's DLC works across different games, costs less, and is not force-bundled.

MSI Magus
08-28-2008, 01:23 PM
1. The power up/boss battles added depth and expanded the gameplay. Just because you disliked them you cant claim its worse.

2. Yes there were covers in GH3 but WT is going to be all original recordings. And GH3 had more then the previous games.

3. I didnt say GH's DLC was better, worse or even. I just said they were both bad and your being ass raped with either company. Sorry, if you think RB is cuter then let them rape away I guess.

Just got rockband 1 (thanks guitar center) for $100. Honestly, I am having more fun with it than I have ever had with guitar hero 3 or 2. After purchasing gh3 I just didn't like it because the boss battles and power-ups annoyed me. So I guess I'm a rock band fan and when I do pick up a game it'll probably be rb2 game only.

Kind of off track question: I have an EL drumset and you have to POUND to make sure the beats are recognized. I can usually drum pretty decent, however, I would rather have a more sensitive set. Does anyone think there would be an advantage to waiting to file a repair form until RB2 comes out or should I go ahead and get it taken care of? Also, have there been price announcements for the new drum sets?

I've been thinking about selling off my old drums and picking up a new set. Is there less noise? & what about the response?

Also what about the guitar? Is the strum like the old RB or is it "clicky" like GH?

MarkMan

The response is better than the first wave of Rock Band 1 drums, also the noise is reduced HEAVILY.

The guitar has a shorter throw and feels more like the GH one. No clicky like the GH one though.

You should definitely get rid of your old drums. If you want to use the cymbals, they only work with the Rock Band 2 drums.

The presentation is something I've come to love from Rock Band 2 and it is what puts it over GH WT for me. Also the drums feel more natural to me on RB2 (obvious bias though since I played RB1 and GH never had drums before)...

But GH WT is still good stuff.

And as for 2nd question, read above.

Bring on the … game. Sting, frontman for The Police, is joining the Guitar Hero World Tour lineup (Oct. 26 for the Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStations 2 and 3). The singer/bass player did a motion-capture session to make his virtual doppelganger look and move as he does while performing Demolition Man.
Already announced characters: Jimi Hendrix, Ozzy Osbourne and Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins. More music comes from The MC5, Sex Pistols and Motorhead, and metal band Tool plans to have three songs (Parabola, Schism and Vicarious) playable in a specially created venue.
"We're not just building an eclectic set list … but introducing these musicians and their music to new audiences," says Tim Riley of game publisher Activision Blizzard.http://www.usatoday.com/life/2008-09-04-coming-attractions_N.htm
