Shadows of the Empire was kind of meh. But I can't tell you how many hours of my life I wasted playing the first Rogue Squadron.

Combat was good. Leveling was good. Story and character design sucked ass. So did the fact that you didn't really get any freedom until toward the very end of the game.


Yeah.... It has always been the slowest FF to start for me. I always start it and get a few hours in before I get bored. I am making myself sit through it and actually finish it this time. I haven't played many RPGs lately (when FFX came out I only played RPGs) so I'll stick it out.

I liked SoTe...It was filled with glitches out it's distended anus, but It was still a fun game, that actually captured the campy vibe from the original Star wars films.

So I went to GS to take advantage of the 10/20/30% (20/30/40%) and finally give up Gears (might as well before 2 comes out and fucks the trade in value even more), and the GS guy gives me a bag of Mercs2 schwag I completely forgot about. Sweet. Mercs2 is fully paid off and I picked up DL codes for unique outfits, a slick-looking perfect bound art book, and a beanie hat.

Also pre-ordered Yggdra Union PSP and Spore LE for giggles. Not sure I'll really follow through with buyin' 'em yet. And it was tempting to pre-order TFU, but I'll try and hold off for a price cut or sale on that one.

QFB should be like any other R&C game, but without clank as I understand it.
GS charges too much for HS. I know, I've been trying to find it cheap and I'm always tempted with the 25% off coupon, but it's never low enough... with 25% + edge, it's currently:

I've not felt like gaming lately. An hour and a half or so of CoD4 on Thursday night was all the gaming I've done this past week. Free time has gone into social outings and watching Heroes season 1 with my roommate.

Maybe I'll get in some more gaming this week. Need to get motivated to get done with GTAIV (or give up on it). Think I have exactly 50 missions down and 20-21 hours into it. Would like to finish, but at the same time it's gotten tedious and feeling more like a chore than fun most of the time.

I try to make myself go to bed at 10 30 on weekdays so I'm not dead tired at school or I'd just finish it up tonight.

Even though I had to force myself to finish it, I actually really enjoyed the game. Some parts were annoying, but overall I'd give it an 8/10, unless the ending just completely blows.

I found the part of the game in the dark part of the Nazi base to be almost scary. I was never sure where the enemies were coming from and was running all over the place trying to survive. I have never played a real survival-horror game (so maybe thats why I liked it so much) and I really liked how that changed the game. At least there weren't aliens.

Agreed. At that point in the game, you really needed a break from stop and pop.

Tried the Force Unleashed demo over the weekend as well. I must say I loved it for about the first minute but once the novelty of throwing things about wore off it got a bit repetetive. Seems like a limited God of War with a SW skin. It looked pretty nice though, if the force powers can be upgraded to add a bit of variety, it might not be too bad. I don't think I'll be paying $60 for it though.

Played some more C&C3 over the weekend and some Fable Pub games on 360. Had a quick got on Resi 4 last night. Not a great weekend for gaming but there it is.

Yeah it was very funny, seemed like a good movie for riffing, with the disco music and the terrible flying effects.

Time Chasers is a quality ep, I've only seen it once but the good thing about MST3k is that it stands up well to repeated viewing.

Played a bit more Xenosaga Ep1 and finally got past the Song of Nepalim part. Unfortunatly, that dungeon didn't give hardly any money, so I'm gonna have to find somewhere to backtrack to so I can afford better equipment before I head towards the final dungeon of the game.

-trophy support
-custom in-game music
-4 offline training tutorials
-new paint styles and insignias

The booster pack is coming Thursday. It adds the jetpacks and a new map. They're gonna offer a set of all 3 of the booster packs for $15.99, and I'm thinking about picking that up.

Same here. I really only get into online shooters if the gameplay is exceptional. Killzone's gameplay is not only looking exceptional (1UP has a multiplayer preview where they're loving it) but the graphics look like COD4 engine 2.0.

I'm seriously considering selling my PS3 (80GB MGS4 pack) to build a respectable gaming PC - Meaning my budget would be around $600 if I sold the games too. All I have to start with is a case (If old cases bought back when Pentium 3's were new work still) and a Monitor.

Is this a feasible thing to do? I mostly want to run Team Fortress 2 and a few other steam games, but playing stalker and a few other games would be nice too.

Anyway, I got to skhool yesterday and I'm already pretty pissed, becoz I got a single room this year, but it turns out that their definition of single room is actually "walk-in closet." This would make a nice sized bathroom, but not a dorm room. And like, I have a 4' x 6' rug, and because of how the room's shaped, that won't even fit. I should really take some pics when I get a chance so ya'll can laugh at my plight. It's also kinda funny, because we inexplicably have a conference room in our hall, like people are all gung-ho to fuckin' discuss things in a formal setting. There's also a kitchen on our floor, but it's actually a room with a microwave. I'm not Gordon Ramsay, but I'm a damn good cook and I can tell you for a fact that a gourmet dinner is not made in a motherfucking microwave. But yeah, I'm tryin' to find a single room apartment because my school is clearly fucking retarded. Apparently with high academic standards comes a jewish approach to housing.

Classes look easy so far, tho. I mean, I'z finished all the tough classes I gotta take and done extremely well so it's like "ay yo, whatevar." I'll have a lot more free time from now on, it seems, and I already had a shitload.

I live in North America. I know Region 2 DVDs won't play on my standard-issue American DVD player, but will they play on my PC? I never watch DVDs on my PC, is there a certain program I need to use or would it just, like, play?

Well I remember back when that was an issue for me that you could change the region of your PC DVD drive 5 times, though there were definitely programs to change it without limitations. That was back like 6 or 7 years ago, so it's probably easy to take care of now.

The only problem with the GS PS3 coupon is that I own pretty much everything I want that's out already. And the stuff I don't have like Resistance or Motorstorm have sequels that I will get instead.

Still contemplating Civ Rev, but not sure I'm gonna go through with picking it up (assuming I can find a used copy). ToV and Mercs 2 will take all my time very shortly anywayz.

I use VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) on my Mac (there's a Windows version as well), which allows me to get around the changing-regions-five-times thing. The program is a little flaky sometimes, but otherwise excellent.

I haven't played Persona. Essentially, you have randomly generated dungeons that you can revisit. Lots of revisting.

Personally, I love pokemon, but the mystery dungeon was disappointing to me. Cute story and generally a good use of the roguelike model, but I wanted a special pokemon I could import to Pearl/Diamond.

I think Rogue games lack the emphasis on story and party assembly, and stick directly to dungeon crawling and simple battles. Persona involves a lot of NPC interaction, story segments, party customization and monster fusing. I believe Persona could be strictly classified as a dungeon crawler/dating simulation JRPG.

Jer, it's really not that bad. I had some help from a local guy building mine last year, and it was painless. If you do go through with it, just have another computer hooked up to the internet while you're building in case you need help, or just have a friend help you.

Also, you don't have to go all out to run games. I'm sitting on a 7900 GS, AMD 3800+ (almost as low end as amd dual cores go) and 2 gigs of ram. I can run most everything just fine. Hell, even crysis works alright on normal settings.

8800 GT's can be had for as low as 100 bucks. You can get a good dual core processor for under 150. Hard drives are cheap. 4 gigs of ram is like 80 bucks. Cases are cheap, hell you could recycle your case and dvd drive you have now. A decent motherboard is only 120.

A rig like that will run virtually anything you throw at it. You don't NEED a quad core, or a GTX 280 to play games.
