Has this ever happened to you?

I was dreaming about fighting someone. The next thing I know, I woke up and I fell off my bed, knocking over furniture and I landed on my knee. This happen around 5 am this morning.

I'm still hurting. I have an icebag on my knee and I am limping when I walk.

This is the first time this has ever happened to me. I'm not the type that goes sleepwalking either.

Not exactly the same thing but.... I don't remember what I was dreaming at the time but one night I went to bed just fine, I woke up the next morning with a fractured ankle. Sometime during the night I must have kicked the wall or something. I had to wear one of those air casts for round 2 months.

Yeah happened to me once when I lived in the dorms. I don't know what I was dreaming about but all I know is I woke up after hitting the ground hard and falling out of my loft which was about 5 ft in the air. My back certainly hurt for a few days.

Yeah. I'm always knocking something over because I'm dreaming of doing something.

I once dreamed I was sitting in a chair, and the chair fell, and I woke up horizontal 4 feet above my bed and fell.

That freaked me out.

One time I had a dream where I was falling off the edge of a cliff or something, and I suddenly woke up, and I was at the edge of my bed. Luckily, I woke up soon enough to stop myself from falling off.

I fell, head first, off my loft bed when I was about 8 years old. Smacked right onto the bare concrete below. I was dreaming that I was Superman and I had flow into a building. Nice huh.

I once dreamt I was banging my head against a wall repeatedly. Now you probably think I woke up and was actually banging my head against the wall, but no. My head hurt and my computer was on. On the monitor...CAG political forum. Creepy.

I never had a dream about fighting someone, but I did have a dream that I was doing Bea Arthur and when I woke up, I ..... er ....... uh. Nevermind I won't go there.

I've had those fall-off-a-cliff dreams before. Luckily, my mattress is only about a foot off the carpet, so my falls never hurt. Then I go right back to sleep (sometimes on the floor).

Sometimes, I'll just start to drift off to sleep, and then jerk awake suddenly because of a falling sensation. Anybody have that happen to them before?

THat explains so much. Your long rehabilitation is a heartwarming tale of courage and determination.

I've done the 'walking up/down stairs and take a step that isn't there' so many times I can't count.

On a related note, I once fell asleep in a slightly awkward position on my couch. By morning, my entire leg was completely asleep. The phone rang and woke me up, and I fell off the couch because my gimp leg wouldn't move at all. It took a good 20 minutes to get feeling in it again.

My first Math class in College was in a forum class, my last name starts with A so this genius arranged us in alphabetical order(in college how lame), i sat in the very front row againt the wall on the right, and its like a shaq-fuin movie theater, so i used to always doze off in class. I had one of those little fold out tables and i was sleeping with my chin on my palm and my arm started to slip off and when it completely slid off the table my vision turned red and i felt like i was falling and i jerked awake and the girl next to me looked very confused. It was both the scariest and most fun memory of college algebra

I've had a few painful wake up experiences from kicking the wall in my sleep. Once I lashed out so hard, for no good reason I could recall later, that I left a hole in the plaster and wallpaper and ruined the nail on my big toe. Bled nastily and I couldn't wear a shoe on that foot for the better part of a week. Thankfully, I was working from home at the time and didn't have to leave the house much.

I remember in high school geometry, a girl I knew was sleeping in class and fell right out of her desk! Something about math classes seems to do that to people...

I use to fall off my bed when I was younger and not even wake up, once in awhile I would wake up in the morning and be laying on the floor.

my dreams are always about me dying

I always have this dream that my best friend has died, and I'm the person giving his eulogy at the funeral. In the dream, I can never finish the eulogy because I start to cry so hard that I can't breathe, and I always wake up without a resolution to it. The first time I told him I had that dream, he just stared at me for a few seconds and eventually said, '... thanks.'

A few months later, he told me that he had the same dream, but I had died instead. It was a pretty wierd moment. Made me a little more aware of my own mortality and the importance of the people in my life. Sorry if I sound a little emotional, trust's post just brought that to mind. Ok I'm done.

Thanks guys for all of your posts. Now I dont feel like such a freak any more.

My fall was paticularly violent. I was dreaming that I was fighting somebody and I lunged at him. When I fell, I took all my bedsheets and knocked around the furniture. Besides busting up my knee, I hypersextended my other leg so there was a long period of time I couldn't get up from the floor. i also had cuts on my chin and arm.

Anyways...It could of been worse. I had a mirror near my bed and I moved it this weekend. That was a good thing. It was also good that I didn't crack my head open.

EDIT: I'm also glad there was no girl in bed with me too. i would of thrown her out of bed too!

All of my dreams deal with me flying. In some way, shape, or form, i'm flying, either that or leaping really long distances, or running on all fours. I must have been a gryphon in my past life or something.

Anyway, dreams that made me do stuff. I once dreamt I was babysitting my neice while staying over at my grandma's house in Tennessee. I was scolding her for something, and finally I shouted in my sleep, "Kathryn, I said STOP IT!" and I reached out to smack her..and instead whacked the alarm clock off of the bedside table. I woke up for a split second, realizing what I'd done, but fell back to sleep.

Here's one story from an old friend of mine. He had woken up one morning, and gotten ready for school, and drove to school. The freaky thing is, he was dreaming about this and -sleepwalking,- and had driven all the way to school, and even parked in his designated space, all while asleep. He woke up in his car still in his pajamas.
