See last post for update
Today was my first day of the fall semester. After last year with them never contacting me about an advising apointment even though it was part of the registration I completed and them losing my transcript I sent them (transfer from Penn State) and then not accepting credits they were supposed to, I thought I was done with their mistakes. I was wrong.
My first class economics, was at 9:40. No teacher showed up, so everyone left at 10:00. We looked at the schedule of classes posted on the wall and for the class, no teacher was assigned to the class! Knowing my luck, they will cancel the class because they can't find a teacher.
My 2nd class, the teacher is new and his contract hasn't started yet which meant he couldn't prepare for class entirely (you need a contract to access the online stuff so he couldn't set up anything for the class like the online grading system or e-mail)
It seems like Temple can't do anything right.
And to make matters worse, after I finally resent them the transcript and they didn't accept my science course. Why? Because it didn't have a lab (it was a lecture course). I am a business major, so does it really matter if I took a lab science course or a course without a lab?! Just a way for them to make more money I guess. :?

Bleh, that sounds pretty damn bad of them. You'd think they could something right considering how much people pay to attend college.

Forget Temple! Transfer to Duquesne mate, Duquesnes business degrees are top notch.

Call WIP and explain your situation to Anthony Gargano in the afternook. He's a Temple Alum and he'll commiserate with you on the air :).

Don't worry too much about it man. From what I hear, ity doesn't matter so much where you get your BA as where you get your Master's degree.

It doesn't matter? It doesn't matter where you get the degree, as long as you get it? The differences in universities around the nation are extreme. Just because you have a piece of paper saying you are certified doesn't mean you know what you're doing. I know that Duquesne actively cares about getting it's graduates jobs, and it's located right in pittsburgh. It has partnerships with many businesses located in pittsburgh.

I meant that, generally, when a corporation/employer is looking through your qualifications, they will generally take a greater concern in your graduate studies than where you went to Undergrad school. This has been the case for no less than 5 people I've talked to. The reason Grad school is so important is because that's where you actually learn the most about your major. (Just look at all the General classes you have to take in college before you start on your major).

If you're going through graduate school.. then the only use for undergraduate work is to get into grad school. It doesn't matter where you go as long as its accredited. When we look to hire a position that requires grad school, we don't even look at their undergraduate work, much less how they did or where they went.

You can spend the extra 20K a year. I will take my degree from UNC-CH, NC State, or UNCW

I would consider changing schools but I can't. I already transferred from Penn State to Temple and it's my 5th year of school as it is (because of the change of majors from Information Sciences & Technology to Accounting, and that Temple didn't accept a lot of stuff or it didn't count towards a requirement) and I'm hoping I can finish this year.

Yeah, I go to Northeastern University, and it's been nothing but forehead-slapping and head-shaking in my time there. Every day I'm there I am just further reminded that colleges exist only to make money. It really makes me sick...

No shit. That's what I majored in at PSU. First graduating IST class. Got my name on one of those bricks at the IST building.

Incorrect. I attend a private one and my English class has two potential teachers. Financial aid with them is a pain. They come up with different lines every year. "You have to take this test!".. so I did.. and passed.. this semester I didn't have to.. :?:

I go to the class again today and at 9:40, again no teacher.
At around 9:45 someone walks in. She looks like she is young enough to be a student but she introduces herself as the teacher. She just got her masters degree 2 years ago so she's new to teaching.
She explained whoever was supposed to teach the course, decided not to at the last minute so she was assigned to teach the class. Great planning Temple, they could have at least put a note on the door saying there was no class on Monday or acknowledged the class was still going to be a class and not be cancelled.
I can already tell that she is going to be strict though. Most teachers allow assignments to be turned in late or make up an exam if you miss either because of a severe illness or death in the family.
She went on to say how she can't be sympathetic about things like that and if you miss an assignment or exam, no matter the excuse (she also used a car accident as an example) you can't make it up.
She said she will drop the lowest 3 grades on assignments, but it was just the way she talked and presented her policies to the class just seemed harsh.
