I went to my local Walmart and was surprised to see about a dozen Wiis with WiiPlay. Is Nintendo finally shipping them to us or did I stumble into a treasure trove?

Wiis are everywhere now.

It depends on the area. I just moved and I found Wiis at Target the one day, yet you still see lines building up when the stores advertise they have them on a Sunday. Sometimes stores get and unexpected shipment of Wiis during the week, so that's why you may see them lying around. As long as they are going for $300+ on eBay, I'd say they are generally hard to come by.

It's probably the down season again. This time last summer I saw them all around, but then I stupidly decided I wanted one for my birthday (12/9), and bam!, all gone again.

Ya know, I still only recall ONCE going to a store and seeing them in stock. Maybe it's really popular in this area because I still never see them in stores.

Just the area, at this point in time all stores get multiples of 3 at a time (and probably only 3) if there is demand to make the weeks allotment disappear on Sunday morning, then the shelf is always empty. If not you can see them around, especially on Mondays and Tuesdays. In my area once a month I catch a few on the shelf. Havent seen a single Wii Fit though.

I live on Oklahoma City, and pretty much everywhere is sold out except Game Crazy. I was surprised to go into Game Crazy and find out they are rarely out of stock. They have like 14 of them right now. So if anyone wants one, just let me know.

I see them all the time here.
They're not rare anymore.
The 360 w/ the price drop might now become rare though...
Anyhoo...

Besides launch day I've only ever seen Wiis at retail stores once or twice. They're still pretty rare in my area.

Well, there were a couple in the Shopko here in the middle of no where Pullman of all places.

So, yea, I'd say they're getting easier to find.

It was in stock at Wal-Mart.com alone for 4 days. Can't find it now.

I think It's going to be more easiier to find till November/December again, then come Spring we might have for the first time after two years the Wii slightly easier to find.

yeah a three year sell out. They are flying off shelves in michigan for the most part still.

I rarely see them in Tulsa. When I do happen to chance upon a stockpile (which has happened maybe twice since release), they're all sold out long before closing time.

If demand is letting up right now, expect it to hit hard going into November.

It depends where you live. In some regions "they're everywhere", but in the SF Bay Area, you usually can't buy one by simply walking into a store. All the shelves in my area are empty. Don't get me wrong - it's much easier to find one than it was a year ago. But you have to call ahead or get there early, or get lucky. I saw my first "in the wild" a month ago, and it was pretty odd to see.

Hate to quote myself, but this alone explains why Wiis are harder to find in some places than others.

If there is demand to make 3 (or 6) or whatever disappear on Sunday morning, you dont see any on the shelf. If there is not enough demand, they can hang out a bit longer into the week.

I dont think that Nintendo has been stockpiling (based upon some interviews I read), so it will get worse once holiday shopping starts up.

It really depends on the day and time of day, like foltzie said. I just got a wii two weeks ago (Sunday) at Circuit City. But they also happened to have plenty at Best Buy. Just make sure to see the flyers, and to be there as they open. Before I got to CC to pay for it within 10 minutes, my g/f said that 10-15 Wiis were sold.

Then again, Gamestop, Target, Circuit City, Best Buy and Toys R us were within 1/2 from each other in my area, so finding one for me was bound to happen. YAY!

In KC, generally, stores have signs designed explicitly for the Wii to explain being out of stock (not just pieces of paper with handwriting on them; printed out signs. Sometimes with little Wii graphics that are supposed to be cute or something.). When they ARE in stock, they seem to mostly come in huge batches (read: dozens and dozens); which is how I got mine.

You know what I love the most about these threads? Within the first 3 replies, there's ALWAYS a guy that comes in and simply says 'they've everywhere now' like that's the answer. As if we're all very stupid and haven't noticed yet. Love it.

Anyway, yeah, it's been covered... it really depends on the area you're in. Whenever I'm out, I don't see them too often, but I've come across more in the past few months that before. Usually only one or two, though... never seen more than 2 at once. So, yeah, in essence... they're easier to get now, but *how* easy depends on the area you shop in.

I've seen them on an endcap at BestBuy not even cased up a few times this summer.
