Didn't notice them, I just discovered them on accident. I might as well get the Fable guide now, and I was going to buy Fable and KUF anyway.

So wait you buy a $50 + $20 guide and get $15 gift certificate
or Buy 2 $50 and only get a $20 gift certificate?????
Isn't that a bit odd?
Buy the game and guide and get only $5 less than spending $30 more.

Not a bad deal, considering I have the game on full paid preorder. All I need now is to add 20$ and get 15$ gift card in return.
So 5$ for a guide

Fable Prima Strategy Guide
(HB) $14.99
I have a feeling many of us will be buying Fable and either KUF or Battlefront, nothing like saving a little. Kinda like the Burnout 3 $10 rebate I saw on the counter at my EB the other day.

Just curious, are the guides really worth it to everyone? Gamefaqs makes guides obsolete to me.

According to the guy on the phone at EBGames.com, this is only usable for in-store purchases or orders on EBGames.com that are set up for in-store pickup.

Well, I redid my preorder for Fable and made one for Battlefront. All on one order, though given four order numbers, one for each product. The funny thing is that the game guides aren't available for in-store pickuip, so we'll have to see how this turns out.
Plus, as each one of these wants an original receipt, sounds like it's going to get even more interesting.

Why do people still buy guides at ridiculous prices, when you can get free strategy guides online?

I've always wondered that. But people like collecting them I guess.

On top of that, they are free (or nearly so after tax & postage). It is nice to have a full color book with everything right in front of you including maps of levels instead of having to rely on a text description. Now don't get me wrong, I love gamefaqs and use them a ton, but there is something nice about these guides too.

From the guy on the phone at EBGames.com, he seemed to think that they were only usable at the store. From the info on the website link, it doesn't say specifically if they're usable online or in-store only.
Has anyone done this in the past, done it all online, and had it all come through online? I'd prefer to order it online and not have to deal with trekking to the store within 48 hours after they arrive, and just have it all show up on my doorstep.

Ok, so I've seen the page that says buy any 2 get the 20. But nowhere when buying them did I see anything like that. Does it show up on any sort of confirmation page or do I just have to trust it?

Gamefaqs makes it less tempting to cheat when I'm stuck..
I don't think I've bought a guide since I discovered gamefaqs.com

The suck thing about GV is that it is like a coupon not a GC. You can't combine it with anything.

That's not true, according to EBGames.com (and it's supposed to apply to EBGames B&M as well).
Offer #3, which is for the two games and get $20:
http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/ads/rebates/100204-Xboxgames.asp
Says it's only combinable with the Guide Offer, and one per person.
Offer #4, which is for the game + guide and get back $15:
http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/ads/rebates/100204-Xbox15.asp
Says only one per person.
If you do two games + guides, you'll only end up getting $20 + $15. At that point, you'd only need to order one guide, as you can't get the other $15.
I'm going to call them back and speak with someone else about the same issue, since the other $15 takes care of the other guide.

Anyone want to bet that a second call to a different person had a different result?
Anyone?
Bueller? Bueller?
Though, yes, I called them a second time and a different person said that you COULD stack the two $15 GV's for 2 game + game guide purchases with the $20 GV for the two games.
Both times did say you couldn't do it twice. That wasn't a shock.
