I don't mind Square-Enix remakes, but I'd like to see these games remade or ported:
Metroid II: Return of Samus, Super Metroid
Mega Man 1-8
Shadowgate, Uninvited, Deja Vu I & II
Kirby's Dreamland 1,2,3
Fire Emblem -the ones not released or announced for the U.S.
Sonic the Hedgehog series -the genesis ones redone

I'd still love to see the cancelled GBA version of Megaman anniversary collection come out on the ds. I was so excited when I heard they where going to remake all the original gameboy Megaman games and put them in a compilation.

Okami? Part of the charm of that game is that it looked like a ukiyo-e painting - it'll look like ass on DS. And the game was ported to Wii already. I've never heard anyone beg for another port for any game.

It would be more likely to see Suikoden I & II ports on the DS here in the US given Sony's stance on ports to the PSP. These would certainly be day one buys for me if that were to ever happen.
I'm not sure how I feel about ports except in rare instances. 90% of the time, I think I would rather say the time and effort go towards a new game rather than a port, unless the game is rare/expensive.

I think they looked fine on the PS1. That said, I wouldn't really mind a remake of either game.
Games that I would love remakes for: Phantasy Star 4 and any Shining Force.

Which Phantasy Star is good? I have the Genesis Collection on PS2 and the one I tried seemed really boring.

Phantasy Star 4

New Super Mario Bros was designed as a sequel to SMB rather than a remake, but yes I'd love to see a NSMB2 and NSMB3.
For remakes, I'd love a good remake of Metroid 2. Not just a port with modern graphics, but remake the game from the ground up. A good game of Samus hunting down the metroids on their home planet would be great.

The viewing area on that game made it unplayable to me. Ugh.

They did such a wonderful job on Zero Mission I thought #2 was a given. I'd give anything to play it. Alas, it's been years and no mention. They were on a Metroid kick for awhile, too, along with Fusion and the trilogy...

Nothing. Put the money and effort into new games instead.
remakes doesn't take much effort im sure, some money will be involved but its already an established franchise/game in which all they need to do is change the code and add a second screen function. remakes/ports also gives them more dough to make new games for the series or new IPs
Monkey Island.that would ROCK!

Lights Out
Henry
Quiz Whiz: Cyber Trivia
Fighter's Megamix -also a Sega Saturn game
I'd like to see Sega Saturn games made for the DS since I missed most of the games that were made for that system that weren't ported to other systems.
Guardian Heroes, Virtua On, Nights, Silouette Mirage, and Radiant Silvergun.

Great idea. It could be a great way to expose people to the earlier games and make a quick buck, and give us improved versions of them. It's so hard to play the GBA games without the top screen map after being spoiled in the DS games. I'd definitely buy it.

I'd love for there to be a version of Tecmo Super Bowl included with the new Tecmo Bowl Kickoff game coming out in November.
Other than that... give me a port of Chip 'n Dales Rescue Rangers/Duck Tales. You could fit both on one cart!

Willardhaven already won the thread.
Monkey Island needs to be remade, even though you can run it via ScummVM DS.
While we're at it, throw all the classic Lucasarts games on there. LA already said that they "couldn't fit" on the carts, but that's a load of bullshit and everyone knows it.
A Metroid 2 remake a la Metroid Zero Mission would be excellent.
Everything else - all the RPGs mentioned - probably would do better on the PSP, or the inevitable DS2, with the exception of early PSOne games.

I would like to see Diablo, Shadowrun (Gen/SNES remake), and Earthbound (I know someone mentioned it- but it's worth mentioning again). My girlfriend would looove a Yoshi Story 2.
On a side note I think the PSP needs another Legend of Dragoon (since it is Sony made I can't suggest it for DS).

Ever since I got my DS i've wished that sega would release Seaman for it. It's got all of the elements that would make it a good DS game- Mic input, touch screen controls, etc. Maybe there were cartridge size limitations preventing the dialogue before- but with the DSi, it might be an option.
Other than that, i thought Odama (that GC pinball game) would be a fun portable.

I never played the original, but I'm intrigued by Star Tropics. A Zelda game set in a tropical island setting? That sounds pretty awesome. Even with the Wii's or the DS's horsepower, I'm sure Nintendo could craft some gorgeous environments with that concept.

The DS was supposed to offer NEW experiences - not be an advanced SNES port machine. It's bad enough that that's all the GBA was.

Another vote for Panzer Dragoon Saga.
This one really deserves to be seen by more than the tiny audience dictated by the niche platform and microscopic production run. Although, this would really work better on the PSP.
When thinking about ports, I'd ask myself:
1) Was it ever offered in the US?
2) Has it been at least seven years since it was available on an actively marketed platform?
If the answer to either question is 'yes,' then there is good potential for the game having a market.
