Probably cheaper.
First thing, look on the back of the power adapter and jot down the information on the voltage, amperage, etc.
Then just do a google search with the following keywords: Sony Vaio power laptop ac.
Use click the "shopping" link on the top of the google window, and browse through the selection there. You should probably be able to find a decent one for below 50 bucks. Make sure the info on the power, amperage, and polarity of the jack and such matches the original one.
Something like this (http://www.mobiletechpower.com/store/main.aspx?p=itemdetail&item=PCGA-AC19V10&t=3&c=) is what you are looking for. Notice that the page gives you lots of info on what the power adapter puts out, the size of the jack, etc. You don't want to be penny wise (cheap power adapter) and dollar foolish (burned out laptop.) Especially if there's a relationship involved. Just my advice.

eBay...you can find generic ones with the same power for about $20
