I'm fairly new to all this DVD recorder stuff so bear with me.

Is there a DVD recorder that can record onto an HDD and then let me watch the show I recorded straight from the HDD?

Price isn't really that big of a deal since my mom is buying it and it's for her.

they want a DVD recorder with a hard drive.

years ago you could of found these very easy. There was one that included lifetime Tivo basic for around 500 bucks few years back

I dont think that there are many places that still carry a DVD PLAYER let alone a DVD Recorder with a hard drive

I dunno, but when I hear DVD recorder, I think the thing you put CDs or DVDs in so it will play on your computer. I'm assuming you mean a DVR
