it has to be a 2.5" SATA drive to fit in the ps3. I doubt a 320gb 2.5" will be as cheap as $60 =p. Post the link for us to look at it.

That's certainly not a 2.5" drive. Not only is it 320GB, but the speed is 7200. That's going to cost you $130, easy.

yeah that's a wrong size. If I was you I would wait for a little while before upgrading the ps3 hdd. Those 2.5" hdds are getting cheaper and atm there isn't much need for a big hdd on the ps3 yet.

Also, it is better to stay at 5400 RPMs which is what the PS3 is optimized for. Yes, a 7200 RPM HDD will work but it also heats up more than a 5400 and with overheating problems in many of todays products, I would stay away from that. I read that the increase in speed is marginal in a PS3. Anyone else care to comment on this?

If you just stated that a 5400 rpm hdd is optimized for a ps3, why ask to use a 7200? Just use what it is optimized for; the price difference hardly justifies the change in speed you will notice on a ps3 methinks.
