Battle Fantasia (360) Entry Questions:

Do you get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?
I have my preferred series, but most important is the fighting style
used, as opposed to the characters/story. New franchises are good so
long as they sport the style I like.

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
It looks interesting, kind of a blend of Darkstalkers meets Odin Sphere.
It's always nice to have non-human characters, so long as they control
normal.

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
Either one, I loved Battle Arena Toshinden as much as Tekken back in
the day.

2. How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
3. Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?

1) I am always stoked to hear about a new fighter being brought out over here. Grew up placing my token on SFII and waiting my turn. I'm open to any and all styles though I prefer quarter and half circles over crazy combos. Plus with the modern consoles, the online play is a really cool bonus. Don't get me wrong, I still play the hell out of the games when me and my friends get together but as we get older, its a harder thing to do. And with the way that arcades have sadly almost disappeared over here, its hard to find some good players lined up on a machine.

2) Frankly, I think the art is gorgeous and I like what I've seen of it during some clips. Looks pretty smooth.

3) 2D all the way. Though being cheesed in the corners does and will always suck, its just a genre that always feels better in 2D. Growing up on Capcom and SNK fighters (I want another Last Blade game) is also another huge reason why I prefer 2D over 3D. Plus, majority of the 3D fighters suck. There are only two series that are 3D that I've dug has been Virtua Fighter and Soul Caliber (though I honestly prefer Soul Blade over the second and later games. Li Long with the three piece staff is still one of my favorite characters of all-time)

Looks good to me! I do like how each of the characters seem pretty unique.

3. Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
I'd say 3D, because it adds a whole other dimension of strategy. (Clever, I know.)

Battle Fantasia (360) Entry Questions:

Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?
It really doesn't matter which franchise it is to me, as long as it has online play and 2D graphics.

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
I love it. I still play the original Guilty Gear on the PSOne because I love that artstyle (not to mention the combat system).

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
I prefer 2D fighters for a few reasons: a) They bring back a nostalgic feeling from when I was a kid spending every quarter I had on Street Fighter II b) They just seem faster and more responsive to me than 3D fighters c) I enjoy the 2D artstyle more than 3D.

Battle Fantasia (360) Entry Questions:
1. Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?
A bit of both. A new fighting game offers something fresh while some of my favorite fighting game series are typically long-awaited, thus created excitement.

2. How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
It reminds me of the PC anime fighting games. Very clean and defintely appealing.

3. Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
I like 2D fighters. More or less, I have trouble with 3D fighters because of the combat system they typically use. I'm talking about the VFs, Tekkens, SCs, DoAs. I'm just not used to it.

Battle Fantasia (360) Entry Questions:
Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?
I do tend to enjoy fighting games like Street Fighter, Tekken and Soul Calibur but I do get curious when new fighting games come out, so I don't always dismiss new fighting games when they come out.

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
I actually really like the art style. All of the characters from what I have seen have a really unique look to them and I am curious to what sort of special moves they have since the Guilty Gear Games have some crazy moves.

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
I tend prefer 2D because tend to be less chaotic (expect for Marvel vs. Capcom obviously) and I have found them more fun because they are less complicated and have less moves to learn unlike Virtual Fighter which is really complex and hard to learn.

1. What are some of the key elements that you look for in a Action RPG title?
The most important thing to me is satisfying combat, there needs to be a balance between simplictiy and depth

2. If you’ve heard of From The Abyss, where did you hear it from?
I have never heard of this game. I've not seen it on any of the sites blogs and podcasts I frequent.

a)Joystiq.com: I enjoy the humor of their writers and they are very timely and the site isn't a horrid color scheme like kotaku.
b)1up.com: I feel like I've gotten to know the 1up staff through years of EGM and their podcasts and the 1up show so I give their opinions more weight than sites like IGN which just seem like a bunch of random frat guys thrown together. Also, Shawn Elliot is highly entertaining.

From the Abyss (DS) Entry Questions:

1. What are some of the key elements that you look for in a Action RPG title?

Ease of control is key. I need an inventory system that doesn't get in the way. That normally means an item system that is less complex. Complexity can come from a creation system if wanted, but should not carry over to item use.

2. If you’ve heard of From The Abyss, where did you hear it from?

I've only read about it online and first heard about it by searching pre-order info at retail sites.

3. Name 3 gaming sites you visit regularly and why.

Cheapassgamer for the deals
Ign.com for reviews and to track my collection
Gamefaqs.com for the forums and walk throughs

Battle Fantasia (360) Entry Questions:

1. Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?

I tend to follow a franchise that I am familiar with, but they do not normally get me as excited as discovering a new franchise that interests me. I tend to do more research and read previews of new series than I do of an existing series, because I already know what to expect from an existing series. That being said, I will also normally wait for reviews before jumping into a new series and will make more 'blind' purchases of something I am already familiar with. The take away from that is that it is very important to get preview information out there for a new series, at least for me.

2.How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?

I love what I've seen, especially the character design. It's nice to see something that isn't going for realistic or gritty in it's presentation. The game seems to be going for a fun or whimsical presentation and has me very interested.

3.Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?

I love the look that 2D provides and the control is normally much better with 2D. However, I don't think that it matters as much as the art and control. Being 2D or 3D doesn't make a game good. The only advantage I see from 3D is character movement, but I always associate that more with action games than fighting games anyway.

From the Abyss

1. What are some of the key elements that you look for in a Action RPG title?

An addictive battle system is a must. A diverse selection of random loot also helps make things more interesting by giving you something to hunt for. Cooperative multiplayer gameplay should also be included.

2. If you’ve heard of From The Abyss, where did you hear it from?

I first heard about the game on the NeoGAF forums, where a topic was created about the US release. A YouTube clip from the Japanese version was shown, which picked my interest since the game reminded me of Shining Soul 2.

3. Name 3 gaming sites you visit regularly and why.

1. Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?

Since I love fighting games, I'll get excited about any newly released title in the genre.

2. How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?

I love them! They were one of the things that caught my eye when I first read about Battle Fantasia.

3. Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?

I prefer 2D fighters since I prefer sprites to polygons.

From the Abyss (DS) Entry Questions:

What are some of the key elements that you look for in a Action RPG title? Usually a very well balanced fighting system. Challenging, but not so challenging you have you grind to get through it. Also, a great storyline can make almost any fighting system bearable to go through. As long as the fighting system isn't tedious and monotonous, the storyline can keep me playing.

If you’ve heard of From The Abyss, where did you hear it from?

Battle Fantasia (360) Entry Questions:

Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?

Not really. Not much of a fighting game type of guy. I'm much more interested my own favorite fighting game series.

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?

Characters design doesn't seem very next gen. But I'm not much for graphics. I think fighting games should maintain that oldstyle cartoonish look. Kinda reminds me of the good ol street fighter days. As for Battle Fantasia, character design is fine, but nothing eye-catching.

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?

Hard to say. 2D and 3D have different elements of fighting which makes things kinda hard to compare. I like the 3D because you're not restricted to left right up and down. But I like 2D because it requires a lot more skill to dodge and block every attack. I'd have to go with 3D just cause I like the 3rd dimension roaming. Its pretty awesome to sidestep a guys attack and bash him over the head with a crazy combo.

Battle Fantasia (360) Entry Questions:

1. Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?

I am always excited when a new title breathes life into the fighting game scene. I sometimes get excited when the game isn't new and is simply ported/localized to my region. There are so many amazing games that are never localized and are missed out on by tons of gamers. I am a fan of the genre as a whole, not just a singular series.

2. How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?

It's a welcome change. The game seems to separate itself with a nice blend of mostly eastern rpg and anime stylized characters along with a bizarre fantasy story book vibe. There is a great deal of variety to the cast and no palette swaps in sight. It certainly has a visual flare that stands out among the other fighters right now.

3. Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?

If I were forced to chose, I would play 3d fighters a little more. Mostly because of the learning curve and expanded core mechanics. That however doesn't stop me from playing every fighter I can get my hands on.

Battle Fantasia (360) Entry Questions:

1. Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?

Interested, certainly, but only excited after seeing what the game has to offer that's new, or the history of the developer. It's always good to see new ideas and methods put towards established genres.

2. How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
I feel that this is the game's real hook, so that it doesn't get lost as "just another japansese 2D fighter" Battle Fantasia's style catches your attention, and is what got me interested in the game. It would be interesting to see the visual style applied to the more extreme Guilty Gear style design to contrast this softer fantasy design.

3. Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?

2D, as a matter of nostalgic preference, and because they are usually a little more balanced while being less complex. I say less complex as a compliment, as the varied fighting stances and reversals and hundreds of moves per character in many 3D fighters just makes me not want to even try to compete. I still have fun with most of the classic 2D fighters, and can pick them up again easily after years of not playing, but I can't even remember most of the Virtua Fighter 2 moves if I tried.

3. Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
2D, preferably fast MVC or GG style. They still take skill to master all the systems, but unlike most 3D and even a lot of 2D, you don't have to memorize specific combos etc. You just know the systems, and can use quick thinking and reflexes to adapt to the situation, instead of just knowing "This combo does 10 hits, I'll just keep using it..."

1 - Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?

I wish I could say I had standards, but it's been a while since I accepted it as fact that I just buy every fighting game that comes out. That being said, I do keep an eye out for anything with the names Guilty Gear or King of Fighters.

2 - How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?

I haven't seen that much of the game, but I like that it's deisgned as traditional fantasy. I'd have to say that the characters I'm liking most based on design and style alone are Watson and Freed.

3 - Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?

I prefer 2D fighters. This is mostly due to character design. Give me more Zappa or I-No and less Mishima any day of the week. Combo systems play a big part in this choice too. I enjoy more over-the-top absurd combos like in Marvel vs. Capcom 2 or Fist of the North Star than what's commonly there in 3D games.

1. Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?
I get excited about almost any 2D fighter. 3D fighters I tend to be more apt to go for the series (ie SC or VF), but occasionally you'll have something like Rival Schools to blow that out of the water.

2. How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
I like the character models, they look big and alive. A little too anime/manga influence for me personally, but not to any deterring degree.

3. Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
I prefer 2D. Simply put, I think it aesthetically looks better, and lets me concentrate on what my move set is.

Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?
I have always enjoyed the fighter genere over the years and a new IP can be exciting.
I do have my favorites Street Fighter Series, Soul Calibur and Mortal Kombat 2.

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
I like the mix of 3D characters fighting in a 2D space. The game looks like it could be a lot of fun and the mix of chartacter styles looks nice. I just hope that it has the proper balance. I have heard otherwise.

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
I prefer 2D over 3D because it is what I grew up on and started with. I do like some 3D fighter like Soul Calibur but 2D is still the best.

1. Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?

I do get excited about new fighting games, so long as they look promising. It's always nice to see a new fighter being released as opposed to a rehash of titles I've already played (I'm looking at you Street Fighter).

2. How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?

I think the fighter had a great look to it. It's not like your typical fighter; it looks more like a fixed rail Powerstone with RPG elements as opposed to a Capcom fighter. The last time I remember something looking as unique as this was when I first learned about Guilty Gear.

3. Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?

I prefer 2D fighters. 3D fighters can be good, but I don't like the whole side-step and hold this button to block aspect a lot of them use. I also really like 2D games for their great artwork and old school feel.

If it brings something new to the table or has interesting character designs I'm willing to give new games a shot. While I prefer my favorite series, if it gets good ratings I'll probably check it out.

2. How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
It definitely looks different. There's a bunny character in this game? That's a first for me! I think fighters do need something such as unique characters to set them apart from others.

3. Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
I prefer 2D because the characters seem more animated which makes these games fun. Also I think I lean this way because most of my favorite fighters ARE 2D games.

I'm willing to try out any fighting game. you'll eventually get tired of fighting dudes and white or red gis

It's definitely different, you don't see too much "medieval" or "fantasy" style fighting games...plus there's a rabbit with a wizard's hat in it.

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
2D, cause I still don't believe there's been a definitive 3d game. no one has mastered movement. I mean when you think about it, most "3D" fighters are still on a 2d plane. movements are confined to a single plane, with the occasional sidestep changing the direction.

Battle Fantasia (360) Entry Questions:

1. Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?

I prefer fighting games that are from my favorite series but I am still open to any other fighting game. My number one criteria is if the game is well done with lots of replay value, not the familiarity.

2. How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?

I like the design and style because it is a change from most other fighting games I've seen which are either 2D cartoons or 3d and try to be realistic. The environments also look really good.

3. Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?

I don't have a preference for either one. It depends on how well the game is done. I've played good 2d and 3d fighting games and both have their ups and downs. Example, 3d ones often have more immersive graphics but sometimes, the controls can be clumsy.

It's very stylish. It's unique, it's hard to describe beyond the obvious details (cel-shading, Tales of Vesperia-esque).

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
I used to be 2D fan, until Power Stone came along. That game changed my perspective on fighting games. I used to think they were strictly competitive, no room for fun. Power Stone 2 let you do some of the most ridiculous moves and you could have up to four people just really enjoying beating the crap out of eachother in that extra dimension.

What are some of the key elements that you look for in a Action RPG title?

Depends on the style, however, I look for a good interface so that my magic/items/etc are all easily accesible while in the middle of a fight. Nothing worse than having a guy smash you while you're trying to use a potion. I'm big in to stylish combat, ie. Kingdom Hearts style, moves that are nice to look at but still the core of an action rpg.

If you’ve heard of From The Abyss, where did you hear it from?

I've heard of it through game research on gamespot, and also at the video game store that I work at.

Battle Fantasia (360) Entry Questions:
Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?

I love the announcement of new fighting IPs. I'm obviously skeptical as to how they will produce, but that doesn't mean I don't look out for them and read up on them. Very interested in any fighting game that comes out, however, few will do what the greats like Street Fighter & Rival Schools, etc, did best, in that make a very fast paced, but quality fighting game at the same time.

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?

I love it and I hope that others like it too. I'm very into the style of art used in BF so I'm looking forward to it.

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?

Hmm. Toughie. I really enjoy a lot of 2D fighters such as Street Fighter Alpha II and Marvel Vs. Capcom/MVC2, however, I love 3D fighters like the Soul Calibur series, so it really is a tough question. Ultimately, I would go with 2D in the end because of my love for retro games, as well as the style of art that they manufacture and put to such great and beautiful use in their games. However, that is not to say that I would not play a 3D fighter, as granted they have just as good a style of art and beauty, just a different one to that of a 2D fighter.

That the game is at least 40-hours long in the main game. The Action does not just constantly pressing the same buttons over and over again. and if there are more then one character to switch to, give me a reason to. The other Action RPG that I've played such as the Tales series, and Star Ocean I've played through the entire game with changing to a different character once or twice just to change back to the main one because I find using those characters were boring.

Not really excited only care mostly on Street Fighter or many other fighting game from Capcom.
How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?

They look interesting enought for me to try playing most of the characters. Who don't want to try beating others using a rabit? But that also make me worry about little characters that are in the game. will they be broken fighters like Yoda in SC (most attack won't hit, and can't be grab for throws).
Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?

2D fighter because of it fast pace and complexity. don't like 3D because in most 3D, any newbie can button bash the entire game and still win against players who had played for a while, and movelist for each characters are diffrent to the point that each character has to be remembered (example Tekken, I'm good with one character but with other I will lose badly).

What are some of the key elements that you look for in a Action RPG title?
That the game doesn't stray too far from the "action" element and keep the pace, one thing I hate about RPGs is they are normally so slow. I like to play for maybe an hour or two at a time, no more, and if that entire time is taken up by one boss battle or 4 random battles, I don't enjoy it one bit.

Battle Fantasia (360) Entry Questions:

Do you get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?
If a game has characters in it I already like and recognize, such as Marvel Vs. Capcom, it's usually more interesting to me than a game that I don't know about. Although, the art style in the particular game is very intriguing to me so it has peaked my interest.

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
I like it, I think each character has an individual "look" and "style" and I think that is what's necessary to make great characters.

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
I think nowadays I prefer 3D over 2D, because 2D games always tend to revolve around elaborate combo systems and 50 button entry special moves that I could never get the hang of and my friends would always kick my butt whenever we play. I'm better at 3D because there's usually more ways to dodge and it's always been my major tactic.

What are some of the key elements that you look for in a Action RPG title? Good puzzles are a make-or-break category for action RPGs. Zelda games are fun because they offer a variety of challenging puzzles rather than having the player solve the same puzzle type over and over again with varying difficulty. Also, a good fighting system that varys over time is nice. Dungeons that are fun to explore is another must (MegaMan Legends did a good job with that)

2. I think the art style is amazing and the medieval theme is rather unused but
clever for a fighting game.
3. I enjoy 2D fighters more due to the more technical nature of their gameplay
systems and the fact it's usually more visually expressive in terms of attacks and
animations.

I think there's always room for new games I'm not familiar with, but I don't get excited about new entries in series I am already familiar with and don't consider a favorite.
2. How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
As long as it doesn't get too cute, I think I like it. (I'm okay with a bunny, as long as his attacks make sense.) Looks clean with a variety of themes.
3. Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
I don't prefer one or the other - there are great games in both, and games I dislike in both. It tends to boil down to gameplay and characters over dimensional plane.

From the Abyss (DS) Entry Questions:

1. What are some of the key elements that you look for in a Action RPG title?
Easily the most important to me is fun, varied, original, and challenging gameplay. If a game is too easy and/or grindy I'll lose interest pretty quickly. Also, if it plays essentially the same as something I've played before, the gameplay had better be somewhere around my favorite ever or it'll start to feel repetetive.
A memorable soundtrack & a decent storyline are also good attributes, but again, gameplay is far and away the most important aspect to me.

2. If you’ve heard of From The Abyss, where did you hear it from?
I've never heard of it before, but after seeing this contest I did some research and it looks kinda interesting.

Battle Fantasia (360) Entry Questions:

1. Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?
Pretty much any new fighting game will interest me. While I mainly play Soul Calibur games, I'm currently looking forward to sooner or later getting to play Street Fighter 4, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Melty Blood: Actress Again, Arcana Heart 2, BlazBlue, MONSTER... and so on and so forth. I'm not that interested in American-made fighting games though, for example the Mortal Kombat series which didn't interest me much originally and since Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 has steadily gone downhill.

2. How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
It's certainly different. Kind of charming, but even moreso it's just hilarious seeing cute lil Watson busting out massive combos. DON'T MESS WITH BUNNIES.

3. Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
2D. Although I've played Soul Calibur games more than any other fighting games, I don't particularly care for other 3D fighters as they tend to feel too loose and glitchy to me. 2D fighters generally seem to have more concrete possible outcomes in a given situation, which is ultimately more fun to me. This is just my perspective though - I fully realize that the Virtua Fighter series is all kinds of solid, it just doesn't feel that way to me when I sit down and play it.

Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?
I get excited, if only because it means that it could be the start of another interesting series. Lord knows we can always use another one, especially when the genre, albeit still going somewhat strong, could always use another solid title.

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
Quite eye-catching, really. It's usually something like that that ends up turning my head and giving a series a chance. Now, I've been burned before because of this, but I have enjoyed what I've heard insofar about the game so I'll gladly give it a try.

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
Personally, I'm more into 2D fighters on average. I guess it has to deal with my past experiences, mostly because I only ever got into the big three 3D titles (Soul Edge/Calibur, Tekken, Virtua Fighter) while the rest I never really thought much of. Yes, there's a lot of mediocrity in both the 2D and 3D field, but I just felt that most 3D fighters are just too uninteresting to play at that point whereas other 2D ones are somewhat passable.

Battle Fantasia (360) Entry Questions:

1. Do you get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?
Fighter fan all the way. If there is a ring annoucer, Im there. Namco, SNK, Capcom, or the lil guys Im in. STF4 coming soon is a big deal, but ANY this gen fighter is a big deal to me. Guilty Gear, MVsC, Last Blade, Soul Caliber(MINUS THE STAR WARS/SPAWN/LINK weirdness) and Samurai Showdown are my faves.

2. How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
The trojan character is cutesy, not sure if the character cannon is consistent. That is a nit pick because I am a conceptual artist. Anime stylization is always good, but if you have only 12 fighters I'd rather they all be 61/2 heads tall. I mean I still struggle with the blankas and yodas in terms or story realism... Guilty Gear is the pinnacle of balance and character design. There is someone for every archetype. That @#!$
Robo Ky! I am naming my child palette swap.

3. Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
A true fighter takes what he is given. The 3D and 2D formats both have positives and negatives. My lil bro has always been AND WILL ALWAYS BE a throw hog. Side step and throw, thats his m.o. So I counter likewise with the same. Match after match of tag tournament on PS2 was grab, grapple, shake, sidestep, throw. LOL. With the VS health turned down and the timer off. 2D is like DC comics, Superman and Batman were first, but does that mean IronMan and Thor don't kick a##? The 2D play with the 3D look is where its at. But juggling in an 8-way run world is also VERY satisfying. The true innovation was not 3D over 2D, but the scroll/zoom feature from Art of Fighting and Showdown. Bring the zoom back!

Oh well hope I win one, but if not I will still rent and possibly buy!

1. It really depends. I am excited at the announcement of any new 2D fighting game, but I am also care about my favorite fighting game series (Guilty Gear, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown, Tekken, Soul Calibur, Virtua Fighter, and so on and so on...)

2. I like it a lot. I am thrilled about ANY release by Arc System Works. I was worried that it was a 2.5D fighting game, but after seeing the screenshots, I am looking forward to it and it could be a reason why I would buy an Xbox360.

3. I personally prefer 2D fighting games because imho, they have a much better art style than 3D fighters. Also, I feel they have a larger amount of depth than 3D fighters. But as you can already tell, I play both without any hesitation.

Do you get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?
I was burnt out on the genre for years (Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter killed me with countless releases that added a couple new characters and levels, but was stagnent in innovation. Recently, Virtua Fighter brought me back - a deep and rewarding game.

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
I really like the art direction - character design is interesting, but has me wondering how it'd play.

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
I preferred 2d for years since they were about the art, while 3d was all about the realism. I feel the lines are starting to blur and the fighting experience is typically much deeper with 3d, so I've been playing more of those lately.

Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?
i usally dont really look up nor do i buy fighting games. Never once have i preordered a fighting game, but i do own quite a few but usally i only care about ones i know ill get attached to aka tekken chars!!

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
I just actully heard about this game yesterday. The design and style are quite amazing and very much differ from the same recycled sprites or recycled game youve played over and over. Definitly a welcomed fighter to the genre. I would without a dought try this game one day.

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
It really depends on the series. Naruto has always been 2d fighting and that got old.Now its moving to 3D , it actully feels like your in full control. I can not really choose either because each game runs either one or the other so i pick both.

What are some of the key elements that you look for in a Action RPG title?
Being able to customize your char, knowing when you get new gear it will change how you look, using a diffrent weapon changes how the game is played, and being able to level just about any thing from chars, pets, spells, and weapons. The most important would have to be making me want to pour countless hours into a title and feel like it was all worth the effort.

If you’ve heard of From The Abyss, where did you hear it from?
I have actully seen it on gamestop browseing thru Rpgs on Ds. It wasnt a sure buy because i havent got the chance to do my usual info check. I wanna make sure the game will give me that money well spent feeling.

Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?
When a new fighting game comes out I try to rent it at least. Super Turbo has always been my bread and butter, but I'm willing to play anything.

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
I don't discriminate when it comes to character design. There doesn't have to be the typical Ryu/Ken build. Play Waku Waku 7 for the Neo-Geo and you'll see some weird ass characters. In regards to the style, I think it's pretty impressive. It has that Odin Sphere look to it.

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
I'll always prefer 2D because I was in sixth grade when Street Fighter 2 blew up. I remember all the clones that followed and I still remember Virtua Fighter coming out. I'll play anything, but if I had a choice it would be a 2D fighter.

I really like the somewhat outlandish character design, and feel that it has a good style that the cel shading really complements.

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
It doesn't make much difference to me as long as the game works well with what it does use, though I will say that I've felt that fewer 3D fighters achieve this than 2D ones.

I tend to look towards what that particular fighting game is bringing to the table, especially concerning the look, the characters, and the action. I'm not the best at fighting games, but I certainly do enjoy playing them.

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
I think it looks great. There hasn't really been a fighting game with the style that Battle Fantasia is bringing to the table. I'm excited about what the game has to offer, and I'll definitely be giving it a try when I can.

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
I'm a big 2D fighter fan, since most 3D fighters aren't done that well to begin with, but mostly because there's nothing quite like hand-drawn art to really allow a game to bleed cool.

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?

I very much like the character design and style of Battle Fantasia, although I prefer more in-depth moves (something like Arcana Heart).

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?

2D fighters, hands-down. I never really got into 3D fighting games, and I think they lack much of the intensity of 2D fighters. It's too bad more companies don't make 2D fighters any more.

Battle Fantasia (360) Entry Questions:

1. Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?

I definitely get excited when I hear an announcement for a sequel in my favorite fighting franchises (e.g. Soul Calibur IV, SF IV, etc.), but I also get equally excited about new fighting game properties. It's good to get new ideas and character designs in the genre. Fighting games have been one of my favorites since my childhood, so any title is a welcome addition.

2. How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
It looks very interesting. The high definition graphics and hybrid 2D/3D design piqued my interest. It's still uncommon to find next gen fighters, since a lot of the franchises are still churning out 2D iterations or re-releases.

3. Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
I have no preference. 2D works better for some fighters, and 3D for others. I enjoy them all, and the overall game design and balance are the most important aspects.

1) Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?

Im always glad to hear about new fighters, and in the past I was always cautiously optimistic because not many of my friends played fighting games so I got bored playing the computer over and over. Online has allieaved this some, but i still prefer playing with people I know over strangers over the internet. This has skewed my interest to my favorite series in the past but now I am more willing to try fighters that arent sequels of other fighters that I enjoy.

2) How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?

I really enjoy it, its a nice break from all the super macho guys and scantily clad girls that grace most fighting games

3) Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?

From the Abyss (DS) Entry Questions:
What are some of the key elements that you look for in a Action RPG title?

An action RPG needs to have a control scheme that isn't overly complicated, but also doesn't turn into a simple button-masher. Developing a strategy as you go is key to making an Action RPG mechanic work, as the player should be planning the next move rather than tapping buttons with their eyes closed. There also needs to be a reason to keep the action going. Meaning that I don't want to be stick in a dungeon without knowing where to go next. I don't want to give up on a game just because I'm lost. Switching up the levels helps too, because nothing is more boring than repetitive cookie-cutter combat.

RPGamer.com - They usually have RPG-related news before most other news sites, and even mention games that are import-only. They also have more interviews with RPG creators than many other sites.

Battle Fantasia (360) Entry Questions:
Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?

Fighting games are a very hit-or-miss genre for me. Even a great series can have terrible entries (I'm looking at you Street Fighter EX and Maximum Impact). Although, when I see more information about a game, it becomes easier to judge whether I think it's good.

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?

From what I've seen, it looks incredible. I was a little worried initially when I heard it was 2.5D, but after seeing gameplay footage, the battles look crisp and fluid. The characters and their weapons look interesting, and I'm glad they decided togo with a different art style than the Guilty Gear series.

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?

I think 2D fighters, while they can be very technical, have more of a fun factor than most 3D fighting games out there. They tend to not take themselves too seriously, and try not to be so realistic, which many 3D fighters have been guilty of doing lately.

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?

1. Alot of fighting games have either crappy controls where you can't
pull off moves easily (Virtua Fighter), AI that pulls off all the impossible
moves you can't do easily (Street Fighter), or all the moves are the
same for different characters (DBZ Budokai). It's hard to get excited
about fighters for that reason, most of them are unbalanced in some
way. Soul Calibur series is about the best I've played.

2. Seems kiddy, it's like they didn't put any real thought into character
creation. It's as if they said "What's not copyrighted? Hey a bunny in
a hat! Crank this sucker out and watch the gullible ones shell out
cash." This seems like a title for little kids. Plus the graphics hardly
seem to push the 360's envelope. Seems like this game would have
done better in XNA and put on XBLA.

3. Depends on the system. I grew up playing Street Fighter I & II,
Last real 2D fighter I played was probably Capcom vs. SNK Millenium
edition for PS2... I loved SNK vs Capcom for dreamcast. The japanese
version of Rival Schools for dreamcast was awesome with the board
game was so much fun! But then the bastards took it out of the US
version! :censored: All the soul calibur games are fun because they don't
require insane amounts of forethought to pull off cool moves. 2D and
3D each have their merits but it all comes down to game design and
implementation to make it good.

The controls and gameplay have to be tight. If the controls aren't responsive, or if the gameplay isn't smooth, a game with a lot of potential will completely fall apart. Also, customization. By the end of the game, I want my character(s) to feel unique, and that I could replay the game and make them differently.

Battle Fantasia (360) Entry Questions:

1. Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?

-Really I get more excited over new games added to the fighting genre than current sequels coming out in an already established line of games. The reason being I want to get into fighting games so badly (enough to purchase a Soul Caliber III here or a Tekken IV there) only to lose interest after a quick play through and find myself wondering why I can't get into it. I keep praying for the next fighting game (The Current King in my domain remains to be Super Smash Bros. Melee), to overtake my interests for more than just a few days and leave me with a feeling of enjoyment and knowing I made a good purchase.

2. How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?

When I first browsed a few screen shots of Battle Fantasia I thought the genre categorization was wrong. It looks well I beautifully crafted RPG, and honestly I think that might be what gets it going as a great fighting game. Honestly I find that fighting games lose their appeal the fastest in the visual department. After hours of play and watching the same styled artwork duking it out in the same style we've come to know...it gets boring for me. I know I'll at least be trying this game out simply because it looks unique, and in this age of video games, unique is a hard trait to come by.

3. Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?

I really don't have a preference as I try to come in with an open mind to the game and not judge based on dimensions of the fighting style. Instead I would rather reflect on how such a viewpoint was carried out, and how it fit with the overall feel of the game's mechanics and graphics. So, for me each game would have it's own preference. Some I may wish had been 3D, and others I'm happy they picked what they did.

Battle Fantasia (360) Entry Questions:

Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?

Any game added to the fighting genre is worth checking out. These days, there's not too many new fighter series being released, always King of Fighters or anything similar. It's a fresh breath of air to get something new that can be made into a series of its own. But of course, that doesn't mean I hate sequels. I'm interested in the upcoming SFIV. Despite the fact it might NOT be a good sequel, I hope that they don't ruin the series.

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?

Very unique. When you get fighting games, you usually have your run-of-the-mill karate kid and the guy who uses swords. But for BF, it's like walking into a fantasy book excluding the dragons and damsel in distress. Look at the mouse! You fight with a mouse! What more could you possibly ask for?

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?

2D. Why? I love hand-drawn stuff. If done right, there's a lot of detail and each attack looks very interesting and amazing. Take a look at Hokuto no Ken for the PS2 (the fighter, Japanese only, of course). When pulling off special attacks, you can the great animation that makes you feel you're inside a comic book. Then when they unleash their finisher moves, just seeing the move being carried out is very satisfying.

However, 3-D fighters have a small place in my heart. If they could get the feel and sight of 2-D but the fluid actions of 3-D, I'd get the game in an instant. And that's what Battle Fantasia is. The actions are so smooth but you have the feel of 2-D at the same time. WOW.

1. Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?

It really varies, but for the most part I look forward to a series that I might be used to. Though if the company that makes one of my favorite fighting games makes a new one I will begin to gain an interest in it

2. How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?

I actually like it a lot. The style really brings a certain uniqueness that you do not get to see a lot in fighting games.

3. Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?

Actually I prefer 2D fighters due to really being brought up on them. I played the 3D fighters and just could not really get into them. Games in which the characters are rendered in 3D but the gameplay is in 2D are something I also enjoy.

Battle Fantasia (360)

1. I care about any announcement for any fighting games simply because I love fighting games in general. I'm particularly excited when it's a new IP with a roster of new and interesting characters.

2. I think they're really cute and stylish. I'm particular into the vibrant colors and wacky ideas of the setting.

3. I have no preference between the two. Both 2D and 3D fighters have their own pros and cons. I love to play both as long as they're both fun and balanced. I can't find myself enjoying one over another.

What are some of the key elements that you look for in a Action RPG title?
The key elements that attract my attention first are the story and character designs. If the story sounds interesting, and if the art style is decent, I'll more than likely check it out. For gameplay, I am focused towards pacing, both on how smooth and easy the game plays and if it's challenging and fun rather than irritating.

If you’ve heard of From The Abyss, where did you hear it from?
I've seen it on the AKSYS site, and there have been discussions about it on the gaming forums I visit. I haven't heard of it before it was localized.

GameFAQs - Informative FAQs, and reviews as well. While there is a lot of junk to sift through, their forums have criticisms and praises from a multitude of viewpoints to judge a purchase by.

Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?
I'm a huge fighting game fanatic, and I've been awaiting this 2D weapon fighting title for a while. I'm interested to see what's been patched from the first release.

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
The style is very distinctive and sets a unique mood for a fighter. It certainly stands out. The character designs seem too standard in the fantasy genre, but it's not generic.

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
I'm a 3D fighting game player, but I started with 2D and I've been trying to explore that genre more. I prefer 3D gaming due to the intuitiveness of spacing and the non-reliance of constant button buffering for long combos.

1. Any fighting game, usually. It has to be 2D though, and even then, I only get hyped at certain things, like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom or BlazBlue.
2. The style is definitely different than what I'm used to for fighting games, but it looks great. Some of the character designs will take some getting used to though.
3. 2D fighters all the way. It just plays and feels better.

What are some of the key elements that you look for in a Action RPG title?

I come from the school of Zelda and Metroid when it comes to Action RPG games where you would initially see a place you couldn't get access to until you beat a boss or find an item that lets you overcome that obstacle. Lots of hidden stuff if you explore around with your newfound skills is also very nice.

If you’ve heard of From The Abyss, where did you hear it from?

I was looking at the DS section at Gamestop's website and filtered the list to RPGs. Never heard of the game before so I looked it up on Youtube and saw the trailer for the game and it looked good

Battle Fantasia (360) Entry Questions:

Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?

As fighting games are my favorite genre, I try to follow all the news that pertains to them. Needless to say, I get very excited about new fighting games. Sadly, most of my friends do not, so while I'll be hyped up for info on lesser known games like Arcana Heart, Battle Fantasia, and even stuff I'd never expect to see come out here like Daemon Bride, the excitement does dwindle a bit because I know if I do buy those games, my friends and I will end up playing for only a little bit, and they'll want to go back to Street Fighter instead of trying to learn something new. This is why I feel that developers need to include GOOD netplay into their fighting games so people like me could find other people to play with. That's how Sega got me into Virtua Fighter 5.

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?

Honestly, I wasn't really feeling the character designs, but I gave it a shot when my brother got a PS3 and I was able to download the demo from the Japanese PSN marketplace and they kinda grew on me a little. I was never too fond of medieval/fantasy characters and settings. I'm not one to really dismiss a fighting game based on looks as before the huge wave of fighting game announcements, a new fighting game didn't come out too often.

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?

While I dabble in both, I prefer 2D more than 3D. 2D fighters are usually a lot more fast-paced and unlike most 3D games, has a better jumping game and the use of projectiles to control space. Not to say that 3D games are inferior, they both just offer different kinds of gameplay and I prefer 2D. I will play either as long as they're good though.

What are some of the key elements that you look for in a Action RPG title? I look for the action element and gameplay mechanics mostly. If they are fresh and it is easy to walk around and perform moves, I consider buying the game. Even a storyline as tedious as the "save the princess" Mario series can be fun with great controls. This also encompasses repetitive elements; if new ideas are implemented throughout the game to break up the tediousness of fighting enemy after enemy, that's also a plus.
If you’ve heard of From The Abyss, where did you hear it from? I've heard of From The Abyss from Nintendo Power magazine. I was excited to play it when I first read the article.

Battle Fantasia (360) Entry Questions:

Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series? Usually, I am only excited by the announcement of certain fighting series because they've been toned more than others, but the announcement of Battle Fantasia really got me excited. It's like an anime-based RPG fighter!
How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia? I love it. As we've seen, sometimes hand-drawn graphics can be more expressive than computer-generated graphics. Take a look at Devil May Cry 3 - it was a little lacking compared to games like Odin Sphere and Okami. Basically, I think it comes down to space on the disc. People can only make 3D characters so descriptive without removing parts of the game. With 2D cel-shaded graphics, it's a lot easier to add more detail to the characters while increasing the game's size. Disgaea is a good example in that regard.
Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why? I prefer 2D fighters for the reasons I mentioned above. Plus, it's harder to hit enemies in a 3D arena.

Camera Control, Depth of Game Mechanics and Combat system, & Story. I want to be immersed into my game so that if feels that the switch to Action RPG instead of Turnbase is seamless. The depth of Game Mechanics could be little things like inventory structure, world maps, buying/selling goods, character control (which is a nice feature being able to swap skill sets and inventory on the fly.) Combat system is just giving me something that makes me want to stay and enjoy the game. The Story keeps me engrossed even if there are some combat flaws or any other minor inconvenience.

Pretty much I do get excited on any fighter announced whether 2D or 3D. Mainly because I like to see other companies take on the fighting genre. What have they tried out new, improved upon, graphics they've incorporated. It's the only way I'll get exposed to some great titles. That's how I found out about Guilty Gear from ARC System Works. I'm a Street Fighter fan, but I do enjoy Tekken, SNK, CvS, MvC, and many more.
I'm totally digging it. I mean, I've never heard of an RPG fighter and this is a really cool spin. Coming from a great company that has done some killer combo system and mechanics with Guilty Gear and the upcoming BlazBlue. The graphics are always above PAR. They just ooze with color and style
I love them both actually. Sometimes I feeling like bashing someone in 2D because of the graphics and combo. Other times, I prefer or more realistic approach and go for the kill in 3D. Love the fact I have a choice :)

Either a great combat/battle system, or a great story. It makes it more enjoyable if you at least have one of these elements.
I've seen it through the gaming blogs and watched previews.
Cheap Ass Gamer - great community, great deals on games. Game Trailers - awesome video content, lots of previews, GT TV is also excellent, and AVGN. MetaCritic - i love how you see reviews from all types of publications. easy to navigate & they don't just post game reviews, they do pretty much everything else.

Battle Fantasia (360) Entry Questions:

I do. A fighting game is always a good multiplayer experience whether its online or off. The only thing that ticks me off is when they release them one after the other (like Maddenizing it). I'd rather have a whole new experience rather than tweaked up ones.
Its very nice actually. It's sort of like a cross between 2d/3d, almost like SF4 but not quite like it.
2D fighting is still the best. I'll never get tired of them. I've wasted hundreds on the arcades for SFII and I wish I could do it all over again. 2D is still alive and well but with added new features like 3D backgrounds (MVC2) and even 3D characters looking like 2Ds ala SF4.

I prefer 2d, I feel there is more technique and skill applied when you can only go head-to-head...alot of 3d fighting takes luck to win.

Battle Fantasia (360)
1. I do not get excited over every single fighting game to be released, just any one that I've seen in action that has any mild innovation, design or mechanical.

2. From what I've seen on the internets, I thing it's great. The characters pop out, the animations are interesting and well done, and most importantly that they mixed both the animations and the models so that each character is unique.

3. It depends, in terms of gameplay I find that 3d has a lot more potential satisfaction because of the environment, but unfortunately this also leads to repetative strategies and very unimpresive, to say the least, to the human eye. Although 2D is more simplistic in it's straight forward gameplay mechanics, it's potential for user creativity through strategy soars. It can easily become a shorter version of timed chess when each player has limited attacks and defences to work with. And also in 2d style fighters, characters tend to be different with varying yet balanced skill sets. Whereas 3d fighters seem to be the same skeleton with different skins, and slightly varying animations.

Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?

Any fighting game, I like to hit stuff!

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?

I grew up on Street Fighter, and my favourite of the series was Alpha 3, and a lot of games have stuck to that 2D style and its something that always draws me into fighting games, because its something I find visually appealing but not to say I don't enjoy the likes of VF5 or Tekken - I just prefer the 2D fighting with the bright colored graphics!
Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?

2D because you get a better experience overall as there isnt the 2.5D dimension in it that you get with 3D fighters and you can actually have a lot more fun in a 2D fighter. So many games like Darkstalkers, Street Fighter etc all look and play great but some of the 3D titles play like a sack of crap. 2D fighters are a tried, tested and proven successful format for a fighting game. But I enjoy both! :P

Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?

It depends on what they bring that is new to the table. I get excited if I hear about something original and fun, it matters little whether its part of the standard IP. I might be more interested in finding out if it was standard IP, but if I hear bad things, that doesn't matter.

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?

I like the JRPGish design and would be interested in how they incorporate that into the gameplay.

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?

2D cel shading is still fine for most fighters. It really depends on how they present the game. For side scrollers, 3d won't make much difference.

From The Abyss
1 - What are some of the key elements that you look for in a Action RPG title?
The ones that I tend to enjoy the most are the ones that keep things more on the simple side when it comes to inventory, attacks, and upgrades. If things are overly complicated, I tend to just go cross-eyed and throw up my arms in confusion.

2 - If you’ve heard of From The Abyss, where did you hear it from?
I have been listening to approximately 12 - 15 different gaming podcasts a week at work, and many of them start to blend together in my brain, so it would be hard to nail down exactly which ones have discussed this game, but I'm assuming I've probably heard about this game on one of the IGN podcasts.

3 - Name 3 gaming sites you visit regularly and why.
Kotaku, Joystiq, and IGN. I will usually go to Kotaku first to see all of the stories that have come out for that day, and then immediately go to Joystiq to verify which ones are actually likely to be true. IGN is the main site I reference for professional reviews, but I also enjoy several of their podcasts.

Battle Fantasia
Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?
I tend to care most about just a select few franchises, such as Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur, and, my favorite, Tekken. However, I am open to trying others.

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
It seems solid. Honestly, for an old school 2D fighter, it can be hard to not look like many games that came before it. So with that said, I think it has a familiar feel after a quick glance, but is different enough to be identifiable after closer examination.

Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
My favorite recent fighters have been 3D games: Tekken, Mortal Kombat, and Soul Calibur. However, for 3D fighters, there is a fine line between great and frustrating. For example, the Dead Or Alive series tends to be much less fun than the games I mentioned above, despite seeming very similar at first. For 2D fighters, I think it is easier to have a good time with a variety of different games because the developer doesn't have to master the camera and movement in a 3D space. I'll give the edge to 3D, but only when it is done just right.

Just received this sweet game. Thanks again.

ON a curious note, I'm curious if the 3 winners so far were receiving Battle Fantasia as well, since we all have mentioned winning From the Abyss. I understood the contest as one CAG winning both games, if they had desired to answer to both questions. Especially since only 3 winners have voiced their delight so far. However, others may have not responded yet, so that could be the case as well. In any case, I would like to know if the winners were both games?. If not, that's cool too, these games are doing something unique and different that I love. I thank you in advance for a great website and contest and best of luck if there are other winners.

What are some of the key elements that you look for in a Action RPG title? RPG elements like new and different skills that help break up the monotony of sometimes very simplistic hack and slash gameplay.
If you’ve heard of From The Abyss, where did you hear it from? I believe I first picked up rumour pieces from RPGamer.com and continued to do a bit more digging on my own as not many news sites really covered the japanese release of the game.
Name 3 gaming sites you visit regularly and why. Kotaku.com would be my most regularly visited as it is great for random gaming news on a variety of topics within and around the industry. Shoryuken.com would be second as I'm deeply enthusiastic with fighting games right after my deep love for japanese style rpgs, and the blog/forum is much more focused on fighting games in general, as well as comes up with information threads on fighting game based information much faster than other journalism outlets. Lastly would be IGN as they have probably the most enjoyable podcasts of most sites and funny enough is how I was convinced to pay CAG a visit since there was basically an entire podcast devoted to how awesome CAG was.

Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series? I get really excited about all new fighting games announced as any new fighting game is always good to help push the genre. It's a hard genre to get people into, but with a community any fighting game can be fun.
How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia? I really love the oddball characters like Watson with unique fighting styles. In general though, most if not all of the characters in Battle Fantasia look interesting in both gameplay and visual designs which is rare.
Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why? Personally I enjoy 2D fighting games more as fighting games have insane amounts of replay value and in general, 2D games age much better. The games also have a different feel to them because of how they are designed. Often times 3D fighters with jumping or any vertical movement feel very floaty while they try to imitate 2D games, but how they look in 3D makes them feel different even if the timing is matched (for instance Street Fighter 4). It's nice to see much more fast paced games such as Battle Fantasia though that try to do best with what they are using rather than try to imitate 2D with 3D models.

Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series?

How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia? I really like the animation and art style.
Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why? There really isn't much of a difference between the two for me so I don't have a preference. 3d fighters are pretty much 2d fighters with walls and sidesteps.

Battle Fantasia (360) Entry Questions:

Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series? Any fighter has me at hello. I do have certain favorites such as Dead or Alive or Street Fighter, but I'm willing to try anything.
How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia? At first I was rather put off by them, but I got used to it, I enjoy the musically historic look to the characters and backgrounds.
Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why? Very difficult question for me. It's like asking who your favorite kid is. I enjoy any type of fighting game as long as it's good. Considering I started out with Street Fighter, and have loved it since, I'd give 2D fighters a slight edge there.

3. Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?

1. I know it isn't correct to answer a question with another question but, How do you not get stoked about a new fighting game coming out?. Some of the best games for consols are fighting games. Regardless of the expert rating I always at least give them a rent.

2. The Characters look pretty cool. The vivid colors and anime esque design seems to make them pop. I haven't seen any video of the animations and game play but seems to me as if the characters set it a bit apart from the standard MK and SF.

3. I grew up playing a ton of SF and MK and love the 2D stuff. I have played a few of the 3D. But for pure playing satisfaction in a party atmosphere I perfer the 2D.

I get exited if the game looks like it will be fun.

2. How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia?
It looks great, Its 3D but it has that 2D look to it, Looks like "World Warriors" Very tongue in Cheek.

1. Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why?
I like them both but since i grew up old school i usually go for
the 2D Fighters because They show the artistry of the hand drawn
sprite and you can see the feeling they put into that drawing.
It just feels better.

Do get excited at the prospect of the announcement of any new fighting game or do you only care about your favorite fighting game series? I'm always looking out for new fighting games, though when comparing them to my favorite, I'm a little biased.
How do you feel about the character design and style of Battle Fantasia? I think that the style and character design seem a little out of date. I feel like they could have put a little more detail into it.
Do you prefer 2D or 3D fighters and why? I prefer 3D because I personally think it looks better, but 2D fighters have yet to disappoint me either.
