2D/3D Action RPG from the creator of Final Fantasy:

They're called "shuffle dungeons" because the environments are split across the two DS screens and every so often one of the screens will slide off and a new area will be introduced. Players must run back and forth between the screens, being careful not to be caught in the shuffle. If caught, you will lose hit points and that level of the dungeon will be reset. A timer appears in the corner of the screen that will be shuffled next, indicating how much time you have to do your business. After a few shuffles, the stairs leading to the next level will be revealed.
...
Bringing residents back to the deserted village will allow them to reopen their shops, giving Sword access to amenities and services. During his dungeon diving affairs, he'll find items that can be used to upgrade the shops back on the surface. Back in the world, you'll also be able to raise your Fupongs by feeding them food you find in dungeons.

It also has some Animal Crossing element. You can decide how your town develop and interactions with other residents.

In the spirit of creativity I'll say it depends on how they pull it off. From just watching the video though it looks really tiresome.

I can already see one of my pet peeves beginning to rear its head.

If the shuffled screen is random and the player isn't required to go through all of them to advance, then I foresee some special items/equipment accessible only by luck-of-the-draw.

It looks kind of childish. I can't get into it.

I agree, when I play Zelda, part of the fun is getting all of the items, but this seems too random for secret items.

Yeah, character design is pretty awful-ish. Made by the designer of the original Sonic the Hedgehog

7.5 in Game Informer... if that's worth anything to you.

I won't mind this one bit since I never use guides. It can even help on replayability.

I think it helps to think of this game as basically an entry in the roguelike/mystery dungeon genre.

In those games, whenever you go to a new floor, it is randomly generated.

This game takes that randomness and makes it more real time.

FUN game and now its only

9.99 At gamestop... Its a must buy at 10 bucks

i think the game took me 22 to 25 hours to beat it

you can make the game harder or eaiser by what you bring with you..

i had to bring 15 pieces of meat to the final boss just to beat it (each piece of meat restores 8 hps)

I've been playing this the last couple days. Not bad at all. I commented earlier that I didn't like the character designs, but outside of the main character I like them all. They look straight out of Wind Waker.

It's not the greatest game ever, but for $10 its worth a pickup if you're interested in the premise.

So I have Izuna 2 to play (having recently finished Izuna 1) and came to the conclusion that while I did really enjoy Izuna 1, afterward I was burned out a bit, so I've decided to set Izuna 2 aside until later. Given that, is there any reason to pick this game up? Is it different enough to play now, or is this just going to get put even further back on the shelf? I probably wouldn't have been burnt out by Izuna 1 if it weren't for the final dungeon, which was just too long for it's own good. Otherwise I really enjoyed Izuna 1.

Is it different from a roguelike? Yes, it's an ARPG.

I'm 8 hours in, and it's pretty repetitive. I'm ready for it to be over, but RPGamer says its 20 hours :-#
