Hello

I'm going to Tokyo soon, and I was looking for some information for good and fun arcade games in Tokyo. The site www.destructoid.com suggests to come and look here, that's how I discovered this forum. And there I am :)

Where would you suggest to go to ? I noticed the Sega Club, but it seems to have a "major" reputation, that is to say too much commercial-oriented with few interesting games. Taito Arcade seems to be better. Do you have some good place to suggest to spend an evening ? Maybe some smallest rooms but more interesting ?

Thank you in advance ! :)

I will stay in Asakusa. So, Akihabara is quite near, and there must be some places there for good gaming ! :)

There's two arcades in Akihabara that I found when I was over there about 2 months ago - the Sega arcade and Taito station.

Both are pretty much identical - multiple floors, lots of people playing fighting games. I played Street Fighter IV for a good while and got my ass kicked left and right. There's also a good number of bullet hell shooters, and then the crazy Japanese games I don't think the average gaijin could play - Magical Quiz Academy, various horse racing games, etc.

Anyway there's one big main street in Akihabara where all the nerdy game and electronic stuff is, and it shouldn't be too hard to find. Once you're on it, just walk up and down it. You'll see SEGA at some point and just sort of know it's an arcade. Same with Taito Station - you'll see little Space Invader doods on signs and just know it's an arcade.

Hey! Arcade in Akihabara is the shit. Unfortunately I can't give you detailed directions, but it's on the main street of Akiba...right next to a Matsuuya fast food restaurant. There's a Melon Book store on the bottom floor.

Its best to just walk around and find them but its not that hard. I was super addicted to that drumming game, I spent so much money on that thing...

I didn't know Pachinko was so big there, too bad you're screwed if you don't know any Japanese.
