Hi everyone, I am Coldguy aka the map guy for my little site at http://retromap.net let me tell about the mission:

I want to make a map where every single retro gaming store is listed and reviewed so that when a retro gamer travel he/she knows where to go to pick up some classic games.

Simple isn't it? Well I am over 600 store with the help of various communities since someone told me about CAG I decided to do a little plug/cry for help here. I am asking the people of this forum to add their local shops onto the map. There are tabs on the site for the format and suggestions on how to uncover hidden gems in your area. If you can please contribute, even if it is deleting a duplicate store, any and all help is appreciated. I will check in this thread to answer any question or add places to the map if you just want to post them here. Again thanks for reading and lets make this map go around the world!

what about stores that sell their retro games at price higher than ebay? You should put them on with a bad review so that people know not to go there.

I added a few stores.

I will include them and make a comment telling people not to go to those stores. Simply put if it is a bad store, I want people to know about it before going in. Also if you are in the area and that is the closest thing to you, also a good idea to maybe browse but not by. All stores should be represented with an honest review.

Is there a map somewhere I should be able to find?

Yes on the site (takes you to a blog) there is a link on the top that said "The Map" click on that and then you will see a small google embedded map, under that is a link directly to the map for larger viewing purposes. Or you can skip all that and just click the link below:

There is about 7 stores in st. louis and columbia and Jeff. City called Slackers that has retro stuff.

Also, you have the Game Xchange in Kansas City on Noland Rd. 516 SE 291 Highway Lees Summit, MO is the other one.

There are also 4 gameco stores. 1 by the Oak Park Mall in Lenexa. 1 on Santa Fe in Olathe, 1 in the Great Mall of the Midwest in Olathe and 1 on N. Oak Trafficway up by Barry Road.

Here's one in Vegas:

Gameworld

3455 S Durango Dr Ste 104
Las Vegas, NV 89117
7023071440

They've got the games you want but they'll rip you a new one just to get 'em (Valkyrie Profile for $110?!??!) That, and their customer service is horrendous.

How do you feel about flea market type places?

If they are regular people (come same day during the week) that's fine, if they are once in a blue moon then no.

Eh, close enough. I don't know their hours/days of operation, and I think they close over the Winter, (they're outdoors) but I know they're open during the summer, on all weekends:

Star-Lite Swap Meet
8327 S Tacoma Way, Lakewood, WA 98499
(253) 588-8090
No website

Large swap meet, in a former drive-in theater lot. (Note: the isles aren't straight. You will get turned around.) Entrance fee is $1, non-rainy summer weekends are recommended. There are regular dealers, and more-or-less garage-sales. For the dealers, expect eBay-ish prices, (Don't forget to haggle, though.) and a good selection. Don't expect many games from the garage-sales, (I think the regular dealers clean them out at the start of the day) but the older computer games are surprisingly available and cheap. Remember to check for label-side scratches on discs, and don't expect a return policy.

4/5 (Assuming you care about computer games.)

Are you looking for non-franchise places to buy videogames? (i.e. places other than gamestop, gamecrazy, big box)... or strictly retro style?

On the West side of Cleveland there are a handful of places like Record Exchange, Buybacks, ect... where they deal with all media and I've been told there is a straight up retro gaming store somewhere around here (might have passed one on Ridge road last week) but I'd have to look it up.

Buybacks is a chain, just so you know. Don't know if that matters though. or is that what you were saying?

Simply put here is the question:

Do they sell games of a retro variety? If yes then they get on the map, to me the retro variety ends at n64/Saturn/psx/dreamcast, so if it is earlier then that you are set.

Also looking for some talented people to help me make the site look better, let me know if you are interested.
