This may be old news, but I swung by Target today and saw GH versions of said titles, with the ugly red band and everything. BB.com still lists them as 39.99, but I imagine a full-on price drop should be coming soon - that means $14.99 after GGC.

No new copies that I saw online.

I hope I can get a $20 copy without the GH case.

I already got Jak II for under $20 almost a year ago thanks to set of odd circumstances I don't quite recall. All the insanity sales start to blur into each other after a while. Anyways, after enjoying Jak & Daxter quite a lot Jak II was a huge disappointment. They tried so hard to make it more sophisticated but only succeeded in making it annoying. I especially got sick of seein gthe same cut scene for the umpteenth time because
i was having difficulty with the section immediately after. I don't mind having to struggle with part of a game but not being able to get around the cut scene made it torturous. I gave up and gone back to it since. Someday, I suppose.

If you really liked Jak & Daxter and would like a clone of that then pick up Ty the Tasmanian Tiger. Blatantly similar game but with some vital differences to make it interesting in its own right.

You're gonna have a blast w/ Jak II -- it's hella hard, but very satisfying. I have a couple more hours to go to finish, and it's been more a struggle of finding time to play than actually wanting to -- it's a lot of fun.

Didn't like Jak, but waiting for the R&C drop.
Good news!

A BB RZ cert is like a gift card, it's 'cash'. If they didn't let you use it with a coupon, I'd contest that.

Those of you who don't like GH--Assuming you can't find the non-GH version for 20 bucks, you'd rather pay 40 bucks for the current version, than the 'red stripe' GH version for 20?

Err, insane difficulty? I played most of the way through the game, and there was only 1 area that I would call insanely difficult. Otherwise I never died more than a few times in any area. I guess it's not easy, but certainly nothing like Ninja Gaiden or anything :)

 That's pretty sad, Seal, especially since Going Commando makes it so that you don't even have to worry about saving.

I played through Going Commando a while back, though I never touched Ratchet 1. I love how the weapons give you so many choices on how to play. It's also tweaked so, if you're struggling at a certain point, it usually makes it easier for you. Dying doesn't have much of a penalty, either. Some may think this makes it too easy, but I see what they're doing. They want it to be easy for people to get into and keep playing. It did get a little less user-friendly near the end, and some weapons were just too weak further in, but that's to be expected.

I find Insomniac's games (Spyro 1-3, Ratchet) better than Naughty Dog's (Crash 1-3, Jak). Never played much of the Crash games, played about 8 hours of Jak/Daxter, and haven't touched the copy of Jak II I got when it was released.

I would actually say that the game can be very difficult at several points. If it helps give you some perspective, I would say I'm just above average when it comes to gaming skill, no more, no less. However, the game does have a built-in tracker that follows your progress and adjusts accordingly. So if you really can't get past a certain part, the game may restart you with more health, less enemies, etc. It's a pretty good system that keeps you going at a nice pace.

Really? Huh, didn't know that...maybe that's why that damn hoverbike race seemed easier the dozenth time I did it. Now that I think about it a few parts were a bit challenging, but once you figure out the best way to do something you can usually finish it pretty quick. I actually like the difficulty in Jak 2, most action/platformers seem to have really low difficulty for some reason.

Anyway, I'm considering picking this game up again. As I said before, I got most of the way through it, but I traded it in to take advantage of a trade-in special since I knew it would drop well below the credit I got for it (and now it has :P). I wasn't impressed by J&D1 at all, but Jak 2 definatly was a different type of game. Not to mention I might as well finish it so that I can get ready for Jak 3, I hear it's going to be the last game in the series (for now, anyways).

I didn't find it insanely difficult. My complaint was the way it yanks control away from the player for cutscenes is done is such a way as too maximize frustration. There was a severe lack of checkpoints in appropriate places that made those areas that required repitition to master more annoying than I could tolerate.

Thanks everyone. So Jak II doesn't allow cutscene skipping then?

That would be great if Toys'R'Us had a B2G1 sale, but its unlikely.

For example, in a early mission there is this building you go inside. There you can grab some items but nothing really happens until you try to go through a doorway. At that point you have to relinquish control for a while until the burglar alarm gets done announcing its intention to have the robot tank you just passed by hunt you down and kill you. You then proceed through a platform obstacle course with the tank on your heels. Because this is done from an odd perspective it's almost impossible to figure out how you need to manuever without dying several times. Each time you have to sit through that tedious burglar alarm sequence.

Similar situation come up later in the game. I realy wanted to like this game but I'm left with the impression that the playtesters were told to only report bugs and keep their mouths shut about gameplay issues.

I actually liked the control on Rise to Honor! It was different than the usual button mashing, and I thought it felt pretty fluid - kinda like Mark of Kri... for what it's worth. I'd say it takes a while to get used to though - especially the shooting sections - but after you get the knack, it's a hell of a good time! :D

The complaint about the size of the city is due to the amount of time you spend just getting to your next stop. It begins to feel more like commuting to work in a really bad neighborhood than playing a game.

The rising eco is a very good contrast. After the initial attempt, if you didn't succeed, it didn't make you sit through an intro every friggin' time. This difference between the two is what made it so disappointing. I'm hoping the second Ty the Tasmanian Tiger game doesn't suffer from the same defects since I recommend the first to J&K fans.

GTA: VC is only $20 at TRU now. I don't remember it being a green tag item, but if it was it isn't anymore.

It was as of Wednesday at my local store. Specifically, it had a green tag marked $29.95, meaning it would ring at $15.

Can someone PLEASE confirm if R&G:GC is $19.99 right now at Best Buy or is it still $39.99?

So far only at Target. I think the price drop will be universal by this weekend.

Can someone PLEASE confirm if R&G:GC is $19.99 right now at Best Buy or is it still $39.99?

Thanks The_Continental and Trustcompany,

I think I am going to buy Rise to Honor at CC today so I can have the non-gh, and then just price match later on.

By the way, the product number would be the same for both the non-gh and gh right? Just wondering...

Well, I guess I can leave a 2 or 3 week grace period, but anyone not owning R&C: GC after that is going to have to schedule an appointment for me to saw their head off.

they pulled non GH on Wed. I got mine on Tues. at BB through a PM and got the non GH versions. The guy from the game section said Wed. was when they were getting in their GH shipment and pulling the regular versions.

I picked up Rachet and Clank Going Commando today at Best Buy with the GGC. They had two copies left without the Red Greatest Hit on the game plus a whole bunch of greatest hits copies.

They also had Rise to Honor (GH version) and Socom 2 with a greatest hits sticker placed on the orginal version.

They didn't have GH versions of Jak II only the original and I didn't ask for a price check on that one.

If they pull the non-GH versions, what do they do with them/ I would assume selling them for 20 bucks would be better than not selling them at all. And I would also think it's incredibly wasteful to send them back and repackage them in GH covers....
