Wow...those jokes are terrible...Who is that chick anyways? She looks like Joan Jett's evil (talentless) sister.

so... is this like a one time joke thing or is this a serious regularly running program? the reason i ask is i can see the attempt at humor in the prior, but the latter fails if its serious.

That was... wow. I think I need to cleanse myself here. What the fuck was the little... the little "head-bob" thing she did after every sentence?

The quality of this is on par with the liberal attempt at talk radio, Air America.

You really can't be partisan and expect to be funny, it violates the Carlos Mencia law of comedy:
"Either everything is fair game for ridicule, or nothing is".
A dedicated liberal or conservative "comedy show" is always doomed to fail because they will pull their punches when it comes to their own side.
The main reason The Daily Show & The Colbert Report have succeeded so well for so long is because they are politically anarchist in nature, and don't give a damn for either side when it comes to the success of their show (i.e., they do not mix their own political views with their respective shows).
It is funny however, to see many other shows attempting to reach the same success and reach out to the younger crowds politically, only to be the equivalent of putting a fat chick on stage and trying to dance awkwardly for the audience.

If conservatives want to compete, they need a funny, charismatic mouthpiece. Bill, Rush, and Sean aren't going to cut it when you're competing against the Daily show, the Colbert Rapport, and Bill Maher (his show can be pretty funny if you take it with a grain of salt).

The thing about satire/sardonic humor is to avoid "hate." The kind of "Obama was at Ground Zero to memorialize the hijackers" isn't true, isn't funny, and is just spiteful as fuck.
It's like a drunken hateful republican Henny Youngman routine. Rapid-fire one-liners with no context and only an occasional chuckle.
TDS uses politicians' own words and clips well. They skewer the media, and politicians as well. Equally? No, but "equally" would be "forced" when you have one party in power for 6 straight years, no?
Showing O'Reilly, Rove, McCain spokespeople, etc. talking out of both sides of their mouths about Hillary Clinton and sexism and Sarah Palin and sexism? The humor's there already. And the political point is made to boot, making it even funnier.
Saying Obama wanted to memorialize terrorists is not even close to that. It's like comparing my playing "Rock Band" to Neil Pert's drumming ability. There's some mimicry involved, but the gap is so wide between the two that calling my gameplay a "clumsy imitation" does Pert a disservice. ;)

Pretty unfunny. And I hate laugh tracks.
I think it is safe to say that conservatives own radio commentary, liberals own TV commentary. It's just the way life is, and I doubt it will change.

Depends what you mean by "TV Commentary." Out-and-out conservatives dominate the news channels.
Ediorially, at any rate. Us lefties get Olbermann and Charlie McCarthy Alan Colmes.

Isn't it kinda funny in an "holy cow this is so bad it's pretty awesome!" kind of way?
I mean, there HAS to be a funny comedian out there who either takes on the Democrats, right?
Anyone got any good political material from 92-00? Bill Hicks did great stuff on Bush 1, and had he not died in early 1994, would have taken on Clinton, I'm sure. But off the top of my head I can't think of anyone.

Can someone please explain to me what the hell happened in the last 20 minutes? Not what's going on in this thread, but with the whole campaign thing that Friday's debates are canceled, McCain and Obama were to focus on passing this bailout package, and McCain suspending his campaign for the time being.

I think that deserves a separate thread, so I made one (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=198169).

A bigger disservice than spelling his name wrong? ;)

Pretty lame. The only thing I actually laughed at was the Pamela Anderson bit, that was okay.
