I just called Amazon and they credited my account 10 bucks for the promotion. Seems like no one got the certificate over email, they didnt even know what I was talking about at first until I directed them to the gears of war page for the promotion details.

Just called and they said it was a known issue, and it should be resolved by the end of this week, and my account has been 'flagged' so the tech will double-check it on Friday to make sure everything's alright. This was for Fable II, BTW, so the 10 business days were up.

I personally have my own beef with CC. I pre-ordered Fallout 3 before it was released, and I still haven't gotten it. It just shipped out yesterday, and via USPS. I'll be lucky to get it NEXT week. The same thing happened with Spore, and they're totally unresponsive and uncaring in their customer support. So they may have good deals, but I'm not bothering with them anymore. It's possible we just need to wait a little longer with Fable II. They did say within 10 days after shipment, and I don't think it's been 10 yet. Or has it? Wait, I guess it has. Damn it.

When CC didn't ship Fallout 3 on time, I contacted their customer support, asked for a cancel and a refund of the CC gift card, and they agreed to it. Then I went to Best Buy and they price matched CC. That reminds me to check my credit card to see if they did refund the GC.

If you have bad credit history, you can increase your make believe salary all you want and it isn't going to help one bit. The credit score is mostly based on if you pay back on time. I hate to turn this thread into a credit discussion, but here's something I don't understand. Credit companies are basically crooks, and they make their money when you DON'T pay your bills. They love it when you charge the thing up and only make minimum payments. Yet, you get bad credit if you don't pay it off? Shouldn't they love people with bad credit?

I pay mine off, every penny, every single month. In other words, I never charge more than I have in actual, solvent funding. I have fantastic credit. You'd think they'd hate people like me. You'd think it'd be the people with crap credit that they'd be offering the $50,000 cards to, not me. (I actually have a $50,000 credit limit. That's more than twice the annual household income!)

Because I actually called them right before I read your post, and pretty much the csr didn't have a clue about this issue. I spent about 13 mins on the phone, since the csr had to pull up all the info about the promo and then had to see if I qualified. So apparently it isn't a known issue like what was stated.

But pretty much the guy flagged my account as well for the gift card dept. and filed an internal complaint. So he said I should receive it before the week ends.

I also emailed them and have received no reply, (and the csr saw I sent it too), which is one reason I called.

I hope this isn't the case with the other gift cards since I have 2 other ones that I should receive.

It's not always that good though. I just received Resistance 2 today (1 day after launchday) and Little Big Planet arrived yesterday (1 week after launchday). It seems the earlier you preorder (like couple months in advance) the better your chance of getting it on launchday or closer. For me, this is worthwhile to save $79 a year. But for others, esp if they do not want to preorder so early, they might rather pay the prime premium.

They are having problems keeping track of these gift card offers, I had Valkyria Chronicles ordered but when I heard about these gift card problems. I called and they said I was not entitled to one even though they offered it. So I cancelled. will now be very careful about what and when I buy from Amazon.

has nothing to do with when you pre-ordered and everything to do with what warehouses get stocked with particular items. Im in MA the bulk of my orders come out of Arizona or Utah, occasionally though stuff will ship out of NH which basically makes free shipping next day. As i said it just depends on if the warehouses that are local to you stock the items you're ordering.

Prime is a ripoff if you dont order much, and especially a ripoff if you dont split it with friends. I mean when you get right down to it, alone you're paying 80 bucks to simply get your items faster. I dont know about you but unless you're an impatiant mofo or you order from Amazon once or twice a week, thats a total waste of money. One must remember 2 things. First, you can get free shipping on anything over $25, and free is....well free. 80 bucks saved it nice.
and Second, if you absolutely HAVE to have orders shipped fast, 2 day shipping for a game title runs about 8 bucks on Amazon which is what prime is. So that means if you order 10 or less games you MUST have ASAP from Amazon in a year you spend no more than you would if you used Prime. Personally, im lucky if i buy 10 games a year at launch price so prime would be a stupid waste.

Yes, that is true with regards to how long it takes to get from the particular warehouse to your house. I was referring to whether or not they ship it early (as in before the launch date) or not. In my experience, if I preorder a couple of months ahead, they will ship it out a few days before launch day. If I wait too long and order a few weeks before launch then they ship it out on launch day or a couple of days later. Just telling you my experience and what happens when I preorder early versus not.

I have Gears of War 2 in my hands right now and am playing it 2 days before launch day. You can still preorder it on amazon today and there is no way you will get it before me. How can you say it doesn't matter when you pre-ordered? Obviously it does.

Damnit...I should have kept up with this thread and the problems people are having with Amazon honoring the giftcard promo.

If I knew about it, I would have canceled my Valkyria Chronicles preorder (just picked up my preorder at GS today too) and buy it next week at CC. And, I don't save anything on Amazon because I get charged friggin' tax. I would have loved to use the $10 off to pick up Eternal Sonata for the PS3.

Too late now since my order shipped. I could return the copy to Amazon if I don't receive my GC and they won't acknowledge, but if I have to pay return shipping, then it's not worth it and I paid like a $1 more than at Gamestop.

Right, but Fable 2 came out in October 21. That's a lot longer than 10 days ago, and at this point we want to jump on the problem before we get permanently janked.

Yeah, I'm not real pleased about it either. I still think we should get some kind of official CAG petition or something. You guys don't think Cheapy would consider addressing Amazon.com on our behalf? He is a C-list internet celeb, after all, and it seems like there are a lot of us ticked about this. If he talked about it on the CAGcast, and maybe even had one of us on there to whine, that would be a lot of bad publicity, and if Amazon.com was smart, they'd try to pacify us. We're a big community of cheap-asses, after all. CAG even got featured recently in a 1up.com article on recession gaming.

As far as the topic at hand, it's possible they're still researching the problem and will get back to us. I too am awaiting a response to my e-mail, though, and it's pretty concerning. I preordered Resistance 2 and LBP about a few weeks to a month before release for the GC promo. I have Prime. So far, the games shipped the day before release and arrived the day of release. LBP had release date shipping, but R2 didn't and I still got it on launch day. Hell, I ordered Overlord for 360 when it was $13.99, shipped today and also arrives tomorrow. Only took one day to arrive to my location (Yonkers, NY).

Anyway, this whole GC stuff is starting to sound concerning. It hasn't been 10 days since LBP and R2 released yet, but still. I hope they don't try to screw me.

I would recommend just putting them on image shack or something and posting links. You can also place the images in the post with spoiler tags but then its a lot of unnecessary image loads with links only the people who need them are wasting the bandwidth.

I called Amazon and had the worst luck with CSRs. Got a horrible one from overseas. Most of the time I can get them to understand me and me understand them but this one was awful. She had the hardest time with understanding Little Big Planet. I even spelt it. She kept thinking i was saying Last Remnant and spelling that back to me(which is on the same order). Then when she finally understood or at least pretended to she put me on hold only to come back a few minutes later and tell me there is already a refund on my account and why should they give me any gift card at all (Because I had returned a few items on this order as well).

At this point I asked for someone in the states because we clearly could not understand each other or she was incompetent (Which is exactly what I would assume if she spoke English fluently). She insisted that she try and help me three times before she finally agreed to transfer me to a supervisor.

The supervisor was overseas as well but at least we could understand each other. He send an email to Marketing and told me they would get back within 3-5 business days. My guess is I will get an email in 3-5 days along the lines other people got about not being in the right time frame or it being for bill me later etc. Hopefully, while I wait the code shows up regardless.

I emailed a couple days ago regarding Fable II and LBP and just got a reply - basically saying something similar regarding the thing about it being sent out already and it must have been caught by a spam filter - which I think is BS - because I check my junk folder daily just in case - and I never saw the email. In any event, they included a code and also stated the LBP code would come on the 14th.


I finally just got mine as well with the same message. I also emailed a couple days ago, but I'm not sure if it was the email or my phone call where the csr flagged my account. Anyhow, hopefully all the rest of the codes also come as well. Nov 14th is kind of past the 10 days though for LBP...

They just credit you back on the card that was used for the order. I had to fight with customer service for the first time at Amazon when they told me with 2 emails saying that the game wasnt part of the $10 gift card promo. Eventually they just credited my account the $10.

I'm guessing that if you add something to your cart that is sold by Amazon (like Call of Duty 5 or something), go to checkout, you should see $59.99 and then -$10.00 promo.

if you go through the payment process in checkout with an item you should see a little check box that says promotional discount and it will be applied to your purchase. Just keep in mind they're kinda sleazy as its automatically applied unless you uncheck the box, so dont order something with it applied unless you absolutely want it, because once you apply it and submit an order if you cancel that order you simply lose the promotional discount/credit.

Yeah, we've all been getting those bizarre responses. I wonder what the hell happened with all of that anyway? I certainly hope they have things squared away for the future. The gift cards (or credits or whatever you want to call them) are a phenomenal promotion, but it'll get old having to e-mail and harangue them about it to get our cash.

Honestly, while I don't hit all the gaming blogs and boards out there, I'm fairly surprised that this hasn't earned at least one Kotaku entry at this point. If the CAG community alone seems to at best be batting .500 on these recent promotional codes, imagine how many thousands of others are riding along in the U.S.S. FUBAR. These are, after all, AAA titles we're talking about here.

I'm really starting to wonder if they are insidiously engaging in a war of attrition, hoping that a good percentage of us will eventually just give up, as one does have to ask the question of how much is $10 of store credit worth? Of course, if people somehow collectively put the full-court press on them, they could simply say that there was some sort of major clerical/tech error, and then they'd somehow 'make it right'. Bottom line: don't ever order from Amazon again based on a code promotion. And if you're one of the lucky ones that got what was rightfully yours this time, just know that it seems like there are more bullets than empty chambers in this revolver.

My guess is most likely nothing. It seems that the rule is that it takes at least two complaints on the same unresolved issue to get the ball rolling. I want to hate on the customer service reps, but it's clear that they're totally in the dark on what's going on here. Well, thanks, but I can't say that I've had the worst luck, as I did, after all, get the codes that were overdue. And quite honestly, it wasn't as bad as it seemed a few days ago. They've got 'til the end of Friday to get the Gears code out to people, but I'll give them through the weekend.

No more Amazon code deals for me, though, not until I see strong evidence that they get this shit sorted out.

What time does Amazon usually send the codes out? I'm still waiting on my Valkyria Chronicles $10 GC and today is the 10th business day since the game was released. I can understand if I get it tomorrow, but just curious when they send it out.

If you haven't received the code by now, odds are very good that you won't get it unless you 'raise your voice'. According to the form emails they sent out when then do give you the code after you've made at least one call/email complaint, they suggest the possibility that you didn't get it the first time around because of your spam filter settings. Basically, they take the stance of "Hunh?? We had no idea! We couldn't know! Oh well...sorry! Here's your code now!"

I got my Call of Duty World at War gift card today. I'm pretty surprised I got it so fast after the troubles I had with Fable 2.

I put both the Fable 2 and Call of Duty gift cards towards Chrono Trigger DS, bringing the price down to a much more reasonable $20. :D

I finally received my $10 GC code from Amazon yesterday which two days after I sent them an email. Funny enough, I received the "the email might have been labeled as spam" message a few hours after I received the official Amazon email with the promotion code.

Oh well, I'm happy that I finally received my promotion code from preordering Valkyria Chronicles.
